Campa Goes Global: Reliance Consumer Products Partners with Nepal's Chaudhary Group to Launch Soft Drink Brand
New Delhi – In a strategic move to expand its international footprint, Reliance Consumer Products Ltd (RCPL), the FMCG arm of Reliance Industries, has formally entered Nepal's beverage market with the launch of its iconic soft drink brand, Campa Cola. The company has partnered with Nepal's largest business conglomerate, Chaudhary Group (CG), for local production and distribution an alliance expected to reshape the competitive landscape of the region's soft drinks segment. The announcement was made on Monday through a joint statement by both companies, highlighting the long-term commitment of RCPL to the Nepalese market. 'This launch marks a significant milestone for us as we extend our portfolio beyond Indian borders and reaffirm our commitment to regional growth,' said Ketan Mody, Executive Director, RCPL. 'Our collaboration with the Chaudhary Group is not just a business alignment—it's a shared vision to enhance the beverage experience for Nepalese consumers.' Under the partnership, Chaudhary Group will facilitate the manufacturing and nationwide distribution of the Campa range in Nepal. The initial product lineup includes Campa Cola, Campa Lemon, Campa Orange, and two energy drink variants Campa Energy Gold Boost and Campa Energy Berry Kick. This rollout follows the successful relaunch of Campa Cola in the Indian market in 2023 after Reliance acquired the brand in 2022. This development also places Nepal among the growing list of markets where Campa has been introduced, following its debut in the United Arab Emirates, Oman, and Bahrain earlier. The expansion underscores RCPL's ambitions to compete with global beverage giants by positioning Campa as a high-quality, value-driven alternative in the carbonated drinks segment. The Chaudhary Group widely known for its flagship brand Wai Wai noodles is a formidable force in the region, with a vast business presence across over 200 companies and 260 brands operating in sectors ranging from FMCG and financial services to infrastructure and education. The partnership brings together Reliance's robust FMCG supply chain expertise and Chaudhary Group's deep local market insights and distribution network. Speaking on the collaboration, Nirvana Chaudhary, Managing Director of CG Corp Global, said, 'We are proud to partner with Reliance Consumer Products to bring Campa to Nepal. This aligns with our mission to deliver high-quality and accessible consumer products to every corner of the country.' Industry observers view this move as a well-calculated strategy by Reliance to tap into South Asia's growing demand for affordable and recognizable beverage options. With Nepal's young demographic, rising urbanisation, and expanding retail landscape, the market offers fertile ground for a legacy brand like Campa to re-emerge as a household name. As competition in the beverage segment heats up across the subcontinent, RCPL's cross-border expansion, backed by trusted regional players like the Chaudhary Group, could signal a new era for homegrown brands with global aspirations. © Aashish Tripathi is a Nepal-based Indian journalist working in India, reporting on South Asian business, policy, and market trends.
