Amazon Prime Day deals on 4k TVs from Samsung, Hisense and Toshiba
There's a whole host of TV offers on the first day of Amazon's Prime Day deals Today (Tuesday, July 8) is the first day of the long-awaited Amazon Prime Day bonanza. Despite its namesake, it is a four-day-long event, with bargains offered until Friday, July 11. Shoppers can expect new deals daily, with reductions across a plethora of departments, including tech. Consumer journalist Nisha Mal has rounded up some of the best deals on Smart TVs from leading brands such as Samsung, Hisense, and Toshiba, as well as an Amazon-owned offering. Before discussing the TV offers available at Amazon, it is also worth noting some offers from rival retailers. At Argos, consumers can buy a TCL 55-inch Smart 4K TV for £259, down from £289. TLC describes it as the 'best companion to enjoy any HDR movies, games, sports and entertainment'. It's built with Google TV, and AI feature Google Assistant. Elsewhere, Currys is selling an LG 50-inch LED TV for £279. Its 'High Dynamic Range' feature allows for more accurate colours, improved brightness levels and a deeper contrast. Take a look at Amazon's best TV discounts, as part of its Prime Day promotions: Hisense 55-inch 4K QLED Smart TV, was £699 now £312 One of the biggest savings on the first day of Amazon Prime Day is on a Hisense 55-inch TV, which is built with a selection of AI features, including Sports Mode, AI Picture and AI Adaptive Depth. It also has Alexa for voice control commands, a voice-controlled remote control and a whole host of apps such as Netflix, YouTube, Apple TV, Disney+, Paramount Plus, NOW TV and more (subscription fees apply). A five-star review describes it as a 'really nice TV', adding: "Lots of apps support - built-in Wi-Fi enabled Freeview app means no need to connect to an aerial. The sound quality is crisp and clear with no distortion at higher sounds. Picture quality is excellent with good viewing angles. Brightness can be adjusted to your preference so no issues there." Another wasn't happy with app availability, writing: "Good quality, but doesn't have Spotify or Discovery plus as apps, which is disappointing." A third owner remarked: " Excellent TV for the price and fantastic for gaming due to its VRR and QLED image. Pair it with a good Atmos soundbar, and you've got a good package. Just get it insured as QLED TVs backlights sometimes go." Toshiba 32-inch Fire TV, was £135 now £129 Toshiba's 32-inch TV has good reviews from Amazon buyers, mostly due to its affordable price point. In terms of the spec, the 'Dolby Audio Processing' feature enhances the cinema viewing experience, and it also has a built-in Fire TV that combines all streaming apps in one place, such as Amazon Prime, Netflix and Apple TV (subscription fees apply). Meanwhile, the 'HD Ready' feature improves the clarity and detail of the screen. One customer said: "Just the job, perfect fast delivery." Another added: "Value for money, looks good." A third noted drawbacks, stating: "Nice looking TV. At first, it seemed very easy to set up and connect to my satellite TV subscription, as well as all terrestrial channels. After a few days, I lost everything, and it has taken two months to get things working again. It needs to be easier than this." Samsung 75-inch Smart TV, was £599 now £569 This Samsung LED 4k TV has dual LED technology for enhanced viewing and lifelike colours with bold contrast. The Smart & Gaming Hub stores a viewer's favourite smart TV and gaming apps in one place for ease. Gamers can play the latest games from Xbox, Blacknut, Nvidia, and more without a console. One reviewer rated it five stars for 'meeting all their needs'; they said: " Excellent value for money from Samsung. "It meets all my wants and needs for a TV. It's good quality, at a very reasonable price. I highly recommend it." An additional buyer rated it three stars, with a mixed review: "Rather cumbersome and not very clear image. Sounds is great. The navigation on the start panel is overcomplicated to use every time switching apps." Another user praised its picture quality: "Really good, clear, and crisp picture, well worth the price. Very happy with the product." Amazon 32-inch Fire TV (Newest gen), was £249.99 now £169.99 This Amazon-owned branded 32-inch telly gives owners quick access to live TV, video games and music. People can stream more than 100,000 films and TV programmes with subscriptions to Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+ and more (subscription fees apply). You can also access free films and TV episodes with apps such as YouTube, Pluto TV, Tubi, and more. The Fire TV also constantly adds new Alexa skills, features, smart home capabilities, and voice functionality. "Brilliant value, great picture and sound. Very easy user interface, worth every penny," one customer noted. A second owner described it as 'pretty good for the price' but also noted a downside: "My only issue is that some programs or channels seem to take a while to show, particularly with the live channels like BBC or ITV etc. Other than that, I am quite pleased with TV." A third added: "Amazon TV, great picture, easy controls, and a reasonable price."

ghd Helios Hair Dryer which 'dries hair in minutes' available at a discount
ghd Helios Hair Dryer which 'dries hair in minutes' available at a discount Here's everything you need to know about the salon-grade styling tool, which dries hair in minutes without causing heat damage ghd's Helios Hair Dryer (Image: Nisha Mal ) Any beauty lovers out there will definitely have heard of the ghd Helios Hair Dryer which everyone's been talking about. But is it worth buying for yourself? Last Christmas Father Christmas (aka my fiancé) bought me a ghd Helios Hair Dryer, and the salon-grade styling tool has a special place in my heart. Currently, potential buyers can snap up the device on sale, as part of ghd's summer bonanza. The Helios Hair Dryer is on offer for £139, knocked down from £179. It's not very often that shoppers can find sales on the brand's best-sellers, so this one is worth shouting about - at least in my book. Thanks to its powerful airflow, the hair dryer blasts my long hair in minutes without causing heat damage. I have a limited-edition Christmassy green colour, which isn't available anymore, but the sale includes lots of hues such as black, white, plum, blue ink, and icy blue. Ghd describes this hair styling tool as a 'game-changing innovation'. For money-saving tips, sign up to our Money newsletter here For me, it really has been game-changing in reducing frizz, plus it doesn't dry out my ends even though I have it on the highest heat setting. Other premium options include the iconic Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer, which is up for grabs at Currys for £279.99, usually £329.99. It has three speed settings and an anti-flyaway tool. Nisha Mal, a writer for the Mirror, has shared her thoughts on the product (Image: Nisha Mal ) For budget-friendly good performers, look to Boots, where the Mark Hill Style Addict Perfect Blow Dry Kit is on sale for £34.99. It comes packed with a host of accessories, like a blow-dry brush, clips and rollers. Back to my Helios Hair Dryer, it makes hairwash days slightly more enjoyable, and so much quicker. It comes with two settings that control the strength of the airflow. The buttons aren't labelled or numbered, but option one provides a medium gust, and option two delivers full force - being impatient, I usually opt for the latter. There are also two heat options - again, not labelled or numbered - but one is hot and the other is really hot. I can fully dry my hair in approximately 10 minutes but for me, a major downside is that it is a heavy tool, especially for those who like doing a bouncy blowdry. Lifting my arms above my head with this device is like a mini workout and it took me months to get used to the weight of it. Speaking of blow drys, this is where the nozzle attachment comes into its own. The funnel-like attachment helps concentrate the airflow. I section off my hair and use an Olivia Garden blow-dry thermal brush, which helps to define the ends. ghd asserts that the hairdryer features a 'bespoke acoustic system to ensure low sound levels'. However, I don't think this technology makes much of a difference, as the hairdryer is rather loud. The hairdryer sports a sleek design, with chrome accents at the base of the handle and at the back. It comes with its own pouch, making it handy for storage and travel. Article continues below Another disadvantage is the lack of a diffuser attachment included. This must be purchased separately - not ideal given the price of the tool. You can buy one here for £29.99.

Top picks from Rochelle Humes' Next summer collection
Writer Nisha Mal has been obsessed with Rochelle Humes' latest Next collection and highlights some of her favourite summer pieces Next has been going big with its summer drop this season. Most notably, the retailer's collection with Rochelle Humes has caught my eye, as it includes some classic, tailored pieces that will withstand micro-trends. The collection consists of timeless linen fabrics, colourful fitted coats, and lightweight summer knits for the UK's unpredictable climes. One of my favourite pieces from the collection is this Neutral Cotton Linen Blend Trophy Jacket, which can be worn throughout the year. Priced at £64, it is great for the office or a fancy dinner on occasions when I don't know what to wear but want to look like I've made an effort. The neutral colour means I can pair it with almost all of the accessories and bags I have in my wardrobe. It can be worn with jeans and trousers, or even a leather mini skirt and tights for wintertime looks. Linen has no give and can often feel restrictive, which one reviewer found: "Not suitable. Material stiff and thick, and the jacket too short." Alternatively, New Look is selling a cropped, boucle trophy jacket which is considerably cheaper at £29.99 (originally £49.99). The navy jacket has chunky gold buttons and a collarless design. In keeping with linen, Next's stunning blue co-ord is also worth shouting about. It comprises a longline sleeveless waistcoat (£39), and then buyers have the choice between either a longline skirt (£34) or a pair of city shorts (£26). The sky blue set is made from a textured finish material. I particularly like the waistcoat, which has a high neck, and is finished with front pockets and a button-down fastening. However, the skirt loses points for me mostly due to its long, ankle-length. Standing at 5ft (5 ft 1 on a good day), it's a shame it isn't offered in petite. If it were a midi or even knee-length, I might get away with it, but seeing as it's so long, there's no chance it's going to fall right on me, unless I get it tailored (a job I will most definitely not do). For shoppers a similar height to me, the set's city shorts are the better choice. For a boho-inspired co-ord look to Nobody's Child, where this Blue Tie Dye set is offered. It comprises a cami with spaghetti straps (£49) and a matching long, floaty skirt (£99). I think this set would look beautiful worn on holiday, or at a festival paired with cowboy boots. Returning to Rochelle Humes' summer collection, this Brown Glossy Satin Maxi co-ord is ideal for upcoming summer weddings and special occasions. It comprises a halterneck top and a long, flowy skirt. Available in regular or petite sizing, the maxi-length skirt is decorated with a polka dot all-over print, and has a floaty pleated skirt (£50). The accompanying blouse (£32) has the exact same print. and has a tie-bow fastening at the back. The skirt has 12 customer reviews, mostly positive; however, one shopper has a warning about the material writing: "Absolutely loved the colour and fit of the skirt but creased so badly." For a casual holiday-inspired set look to Boden, where shoppers can pick up a colourful set comprising a loose-fitting pair of trousers (£120) and a matching, floaty shirt (£80). The Sieena linen set is all-white and features a tropical print all over it, including little banana prints, seashells, lobsters and even a little bird. My last Next pick is this knitted jumper, priced at £35. As we all know, British summertime is mostly a let-down, and having a jumper at hand is useful for on/off downpours. The keyhole design means I won't get overheated, and it's lightweight enough to pop into my handbag without taking up much space. The ecru-white knit comes in sizes small, medium, large, extra large, and extra large. Rochelle pairs it with light-wash jeans and tousled locks, but it'd look equally stylish with denim cut-offs or city shorts. The knit is also available in a blue colourway with pink and green stripes. In the reviews, a buyer praised its design and comfort, writing: "I love this jumper. It's so comfortable. I wanted a jumper that hung well, and this certainly does that. A slightly off-white colour. Worth the money." However, another found it too short, saying: "Loved the jumper but had to return as it was too short on me - I'm only 5ft3." Over at Roman, shoppers can snap up a Crochet Tunic Top (£40) in white, teal, black, and beige. It's the perfect holiday piece to wear over a swimsuit or with shorts. Choose from sizes 10-20.
