PSL transfer news: Orlando Pirates set to earn over R150m
Orlando Pirates could potentially earn R150 million from the sales of Mohau Nkota and Relebohile Mofokeng. Both players were instrumental in the Buccaneers' run to the semi-finals of the CAF Champions League. Nkota recently made a high-profile move to Saudi Arabian side Al-Ettifaq. He is expected to sign a three-year deal that will reportedly see him earn over R12 million annually. Unconfirmed reports indicate that the transfer fee for Nkota is around £1.5 million (R36 million), with additional add-ons that could elevate the total to £2.15 million (R52 million) if certain performance targets are met. Meanwhile, Mofokeng could leave Orlando Pirates for a substantial R120 million, with Dutch giants PSV showing interest in signing the talented young winger in the coming days. 'R100 million is like a round figure. It's more than that! The amount they were negotiating for was initially R120 million. You know it's not exactly what you want that you get, and that's why they are talking about the R100 million, but it's believed to be more than that,' the insider told Soccer Laduma . Should Orlando Pirates successfully sell Mofokeng to PSV, they could very well exceed R150 million in earnings during this transfer period. Both players came up through the club's development system and competed in the DSTV Diski Challenge just three years ago. Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 0211. However, he's already brushing shoulders with some elite talent. 20-year-old winger Nkota has recently sealed a move to Saudi Arabia. There, he links up with the likes of Georginio Wijnaldum and former PSG, Fulham, Lyon and Atlético Madrid attacker Moussa Dembélé. Transfers: All Pirates arrivals and departures According to KickOff , Orlando Pirates have landed an almighty coup in signing Oswin Appollis from Polokwane City. The Sea Robbers managed to pay only R12 million for the star winger despite Polokwane having a much larger number in mind. 'Aware that his (Appollis) contract was heading into its last 12 months, Polokwane then agreed to sell him to Pirates. Though the 23-year-old's valuation has been placed at R20 million over the past year, it has been established that he will move to Pirates for 60% of that amount. This places the transfer fee in the region of R12 million.' Let us know by leaving a comment below or sending a WhatsApp to 060 011 0211. Orlando Pirates: Mohau Nkota's message to Riveiro
Former Orlando Pirates winger Mohau Nkota has praised his former coach, Jose Riveiro, as well as his development coach, Joseph Makhanya. The 20-year-old attacker joined Saudi Pro League side Ettifaq Club after just one season with the Buccaneers. He scored five goals and provided seven assists in 39 matches across all competitions. On Monday, Nkota penned a heartfelt message on his social media platform. 'I'm filled with mixed emotions. There's sadness in leaving behind the only football home I've ever known, but also excitement for the journey that lies ahead. I've grown as a player, but even more importantly, I've grown as a person,' the former Orlando Pirates winger wrote. 'I'm proud and honoured to have won my first major cup with Orlando Pirates. The memories we've created and the friendships formed here will last a lifetime. 'To the fans – thank you for your unwavering support. Your cheers, your chants, your passion, and even your constructive criticism – all of it fueled me every single step of the way. I never forget the electric atmosphere you created on match days. It was a privilege to play for you. Nkota also took time to thank Makhanya, with whom he worked in development. The winger made his debut for Orlando Pirates first team late in 2024 and immediately became a fan favourite under Jose Riveiro. 'To coach Joseph Makhanya, you have been more than just a coach-you have been a true father figure. Your guidance has shaped me not only as a player but as a man and to the man who made me the person I am today-Coach Jose Riveiro thank you. Your influence on my journey has been immeasurable, and I will carry your lessons with me wherever I go,' Nkota wrote. With Nkota gone, Pirates announced the signing of a new winger.
