(AFP) However, just days later, he approached the MCA again, asking the cricket body to withdraw his NOC as he is available to serve Mumbai in the domestic season. Two months after his application, the MCA has given the southpaw its go-ahead, and as a result, the batter is available for Mumbai. The decision was ratified by the Apex Council on Monday. "Yashasvi has always been a proud product of Mumbai cricket. We have accepted Jaiswal's NOC withdrawal application, and he will be available for Mumbai in the forthcoming domestic season," MCA President Ajinkya Naik said in an official statement. In April 2025, Jaiswal caught everyone off guard by asking MCA for a NOC to move to Goa. The batter cited personal reasons behind this shift. Prithvi Shaw to follow Arjun Tendulkar? Mumbai batter seeks NOC to switch states in domestic cricket, says report
Prithvi Shaw has taken the path followed by his childhood friend Arjun Tendulkar and sought a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) to play for another state. The 25-year-old Shaw, who is currently out-of-contention from the Indian team, didn't had the best of seasons domestically for the past couple of years and has been in and out of the Mumbai team. The dashing Mumbai opener has been embroiled in controversies recently. Even the MCA accused Shaw of disciplinary issues and deemed him unfit. According to a Hindustan Times report, Shaw has received offers from a couple of state teams earlier this month. "Yes, Prithvi Shaw has written a letter to us, seeking a No-Objection Certificate. We are just discussing it with the Apex Council members. We will make our decision by today evening," MCA secretary Abhay Hadap confirmed to the newspaper. Earlier, Shaw's Mumbai teammate Yashasvi Jaiswal decided to play for Goa and also had sought NOC, but did a U-turn after a couple of weeks. Arjun, who is the son of legendary Sachin Tendulkar, had started his domestic career for Mumbai in T20s. However, sensing lack of opportunities in the Mumbai senior team. Arjun switched to Goa and made his Ranji Trophy debut for them in 2022 against Rajasthan. In his letter to MCA, Shaw stated that he has been offered to play professional cricket with another team. 'At this juncture in my career, I have been presented with a promising opportunity to play professional cricket under another State Association, which I believe will further contribute to my growth and development as a cricketer.' "In light of this, I kindly request you to issue me a No Objection Certificate (NOC) that will enable me to officially represent the new State Association in the upcoming domestic season,' added Shaw. Shaw first came into limelight when he led the Indian team to the U-19 World Cup win 2018 in New Zealand. The squad also featured Shubman Gill, who is currently the Indian Test team captain. The same year Shaw made his India senior team debut against West Indies in Tests. In all, Shaw played five Tests, six ODIs and a lone T20I for India. The last season Shaw was dropped from Mumbai's Ranji Trophy squad citing fitness concerns. Recently, Shaw had also featured for Northamptonshire in England's One Day Cup.

Prithvi Shaw decides to leave Mumbai, seeks to play ‘professional under another state': ‘At this juncture in my career…'
Out-of-favour Mumbai batter Prithvi Shaw has decided to represent another state ahead of the upcoming domestic season. He has written to the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA), seeking a No-Objection Certificate. It cannot be confirmed which team he will represent in the upcoming season; however, it can be confirmed that the right-handed batter has indeed written to the parent association, seeking a go-ahead. Prithvi Shaw decides to leave Mumbai ahead of the upcoming domestic season. Shaw has been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons since last year. The Mumbai senior selection committee first dropped him from the Ranji Trophy last year, citing his poor fitness. The MCA trainers then prescribed a two-week fitness programme. "Yes, Prithvi Shaw has written a letter to us, seeking a No-Objection Certificate. We are just discussing it with the Apex Council members. We will make our decision by today evening," MCA secretary Abhay Hadap confirmed to Hindustan Times. In his letter to the MCA, Shaw wrote, 'At this juncture in my career, I have been presented with a promising opportunity to play professional cricket under another State Association, which I believe will further contribute to my growth and development as a cricketer.' "In light of this, I kindly request you to issue me a No Objection Certificate (NOC) that will enable me to officially represent the new State Association in the upcoming domestic season,' he added. Prithvi Shaw also said that he made his final decision after careful deliberation and a lot of thinking. 'Please be assured that this decision has been made after careful consideration, and with utmost respect for the MCA. I remain ever grateful to the association for the guidance and platform provided over the years,' he added. Prithvi Shaw dropped by the Mumbai selectors Earlier, when Prithvi Shaw was dropped from Mumbai's squad for the Vijay Hazare Trophy, he snapped back on Instagram, posting his List-A numbers. "Tell me, God, what more do I have to see? If 65 innings, 3399 runs at an average of 55.7 with a strike rate of 126, I'm not good enough… but I will keep my faith in you, and hopefully, people believe in me still… because I will come back for sure. Om Sai Ram," he wrote on Instagram Stories. This Instagram story did not sit well with the higher authorities at the MCA. Speaking to Hindustan Times, a well-informed source questioned Shaw's lack of runs in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Even his fitness was put under the scanner. "The fitness concern is there, but the performance is also not there currently. He needs to work on his fitness, discipline and performance. The main issue is fitness. You see the matches. You get the image, right? Just by looking at his frame, the fitness issues are there for everyone to see," the source said. In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Shaw managed less than 200 runs in nine innings. Despite Mumbai winning the title, his performance was an eye sore as he averaged less than 25. Shaw was not even picked up in the IPL mega auction in Saudi Arabia. Despite a plethora of injuries to several players in the IPL 2025 season, no franchise picked him as a replacement player. The right-handed batter was viewed as the next big thing in Indian cricket when he made his Test debut in 2018. Ravi Shastri even called him a mixture of Brian Lara, Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag. However, Shaw quickly faded into oblivion when it comes to international cricketowing to his poor returns. He has so far played just five Tests, six ODIs, and one T20I for India.

Bombay HC imposes Rs 1 L on PIL petitioner seeking demolition of SRA building
The Bombay High Court on Tuesday imposed Rs 1 lakh cost on a petitioner who filed a PIL seeking demolition of a Kandivali (East) Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) project building, observing that it amounted to 'an abuse of the process of law'. The HC noted that in September, 2022, another bench had dismissed an earlier plea by the petitioner seeking similar reliefs, and the said decision was binding on him as per principle of res judicata ( a matter already decided by a competent court) and there was 'absence of public interest' in the plea. The PIL was filed by one Ankush Jaiswal, who claimed to be an electronic media journalist, alleging illegalities in the construction of a building with six wings in an SRA project called Bandongri Ekta Cooperative Housing Society Ltd. The petitioner, through advocate Satish B Talekar, claimed that there were various violations including flouting of the mandatory distance from the National Highway and not obtaining No-Objection Certificate (NOC) from the authority concerned before the construction work commenced on the government land. Talekar further claimed that Jaiswal's earlier petition was dismissed without getting into the merits of the matter. The bench questioned Jaiswal as to why he challenged the NOC nearly 22 years after the completion of the project. The HC also said the slum dwellers were rehabilitated in the said building and if the petitioner wanted them to come on the streets and that his PIL was 'serious violation of constitutional guarantee to others'. The judges questioned as to why Jaiswal was staying in the said project despite claiming that the same was 'dangerous to life'. Noting that the PIL was 'barred by principles of res judicata,' a bench of Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice Sandeep V Marne dismissed the PIL by imposing Rs 1 lakh cost on the petitioner. The HC noted that the said amount be adjusted from an earlier deposit of Rs. 1 lakh made by the petitioner in the court to prove his bonafide and it be paid to Maharashtra State Legal Services Authority (MSLSA).
