NASCAR Suspends Austin Hill One Race For Intentionally Wrecking Aric Almirola

NASCAR suspended Xfinity Series driver Austin Hill for one race for retaliating Saturday against Aric Almirola by hooking his car in the right rear, sending Almirola hard into the Indianapolis Motor Speedway wall. Hill will serve his suspension this weekend at Iowa Speedway. Austin Dillon will replace him in the Richard Childress Racing No. 21 Xfinity Series car. "Richard Childress Racing will not appeal the penalty NASCAR issued to the No. 21 team following the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway," the team said in a social media post. "We remain focused on winning a championship with Austin Hill in 2025." The penalty is more than a suspension. A driver who is suspended loses all playoff points earned during the regular season. Playoff points help a driver advance in the three-race playoff rounds if they do not win. Hill is fifth in the Xfinity Series standings and is ranked third in playoff points with 21 (not including the points he would earn by finishing in the top 10 of the regular-season standings). The suspension was not a surprise, as NASCAR often suspends drivers for that type of retaliatory move on high-speed tracks. Earlier this season, NASCAR did not suspend Austin Cindric but instead docked him 50 points and fined him $50,000 or a retaliatory hook on Ty Dillon in the Cup race at Circuit of the Americas. That incident has remained a topic of debate. Hill said on the radio to his team that the accident wasn't on purpose. Almirola, speaking on the CW race telecast after the accident, said it was obvious that it was. NASCAR held Hill five laps after the incident for reckless driving. "It was definitely intentional," Almirola said. Almirola said he did make contact with Hill to force him to wiggle so Almirola could make the pass. "I got him loose and he just turned left and hooked me in the right rear," Almirola said. "[It was] honestly one of the biggest hits in my entire NASCAR career. Very reminiscent of the hit I took when I broke my back [in 2017 at Kansas]." Bob Pockrass covers NASCAR and INDYCAR for FOX Sports. WATCH: New Texans RB Nick Chubb jukes past defenders for easy TD

Nick Chubb might not be an All-Pro for the Houston Texans, but he's looking the part of a lead running back in practice. Chubb, who is expected to take over as the lead back while Pro Bowl runner Joe Mixon misses a majority of training camp with a foot injury, made several Texans defenders miss him behind the line of scrimmage while he broke past the second level for what would have been a touchdown in a real game. With fans in attendance, No. 21 showed a bit more juice and gave fans something to talk about heading into the afternoon. Here's a clip down below. Chubb, who spent seven seasons with the Cleveland Browns, inked a one-year deal worth $2.5 million in May, though it could be worth up to $5 million if he hits his bonuses. With Mixon's injury, Chubb is going to have the first crack at working through the starting rotation over rookie Woody Marks and Dare Ogunbowale. A 2018 second-round pick out of Georgia, Chubb lived up to the billing with four Pro Bowl appearances and an All-Pro year in 2022. Part of Chubb's tenure — and eventual downfall — in Cleveland was hindered by injuries. He suffered a suffered a season-ending knee injury in Week 2 of the 2023 season against the Pittsburgh Steelers, forcing him to miss the first six games of 2024. Once he returned, Chubb averaged a career-low 3.3 yards per play over his final eight games. In Houston, Chubb hopes to recapture even half of his success prior to his injury while forming a duo with Mixon, who is expected to be back at some point early in the regular season. So far in camp, he's impressed the right people. "He's a pro. Nick has been the same guy. I've always admired Nick from when he was back at Georgia, playing," Texans coach DeMeco Ryans said. "I've always admired him and it's no different. I can see why the guy has been good in his career. It's because he's a hard worker. He doesn't say much, but he shows you by his actions." The Texans return to practice on Monday.

Le Mans star leaps out of car and punches and kicks rival's motor in wild scenes

The Road to Le Mans Race 2 was marred by a violent outburst from one of the drivers, who leaped out of his car and attacked his rival on the first lap of the race after a collision A startling clash between two Ferraris sparked chaos on lap one of the Road to Le Mans Race 2. The Michelin Le Mans Cup contest was thrown into disarray as the blue No. 23 and red No. 21 Ferraris tangled instantly. The No. 23 Biogas Motorsport Ferrari 296 GT3, driven by Josep Mayola Comadira, collided with Gino-Generoso Forgione's No. 21 AF Corse Ferrari 293 right at the scrappy race start. ‌ Comadira rammed into the back of Forgione's vehicle around a curve where many competitors braked suddenly, putting an end to both of their race ambitions, much to the annoyance of the Swiss driver at Le Mans. ‌ Following the crash, the cars lay stationary trackside. However, Forgione then burst from his vehicle and stomped towards his opponent's car, which had been flung upwards during the collision, reports the Express. Enraged, Forgione then started launching kicks at the No. 23 car's door before battering its window with his fists. His assault on the windows and roof continued until race officials intervened and steered him away. "It was not a moment of which he will be particularly proud of," observed TNT Sports commentator Martin Haven about the unbelievable fracas. "As you can understand, racing at Les Mans and getting tagged out in the first corner is not going to leave you feeling very happy," he continued. "The problem is, everyone is checking up there because of the spinning Porsche. He has spun because he is checking up because the cars in front are slowing down dramatically." ‌ Graham Goodwin, also on commentary, responded: "It is not giving Gino-Generoso Forgione any credit at all for the behaviour at the end there, but he will feel that he checked up and the car behind did not. "That I think is a knock-on effect of the argy-bargy at the front of the field. Yeah, not very happy is the international sign language there." A safety car was drawn before the support race for the 24 Hours of Le Mans restarted, as a sizeable clean-up was required after the many incidents that occurred during a crash-ridden opening lap. Before the race began, issues prevented the No. 59 Racing Spirit of Le Mans Aston Martin driven by Anthony McIntosh from starting. Meanwhile, CLX chose to replace the nose of No. 97, which required it to start from the pit lane. This race was the second Le Mans Cup contest, with the first being held on Friday. In the GT3 category, in which both the No. 21 and No. 23 cars were striving to win on Saturday, the No. 65 Team Motopark Mercedes-AMG GT3 claimed victory. Lena Buhler and Mattéo Quintarelli in the No. 20 23 Events Racing Ligier JS would go on to win the race overall, and Buhler became the first woman to achieve such a feat in a Road to Le Mans contest.
