5 drivers to watch in the 2025 Quaker State 400 at EchoPark Speedway
The NASCAR Cup Series is ready for the 2025 Quaker State 400, and it will be a weekend of firsts. EchoPark Speedway, formerly known as Atlanta Motor Speedway, will host its first races since the name change, while NASCAR begins the first of five rounds in its inaugural In-Season Challenge. With only nine races left in the 2025 Cup Series regular season, the 36 drivers eligible for the championship must maximize their points and playoff points moving forward. However, EchoPark will be a risky venue for drivers, representing NASCAR's third superspeedway track alongside Daytona and Talladega. Below, we dive into five drivers to watch during the 2025 Quaker State 400 at EchoPark on Saturday night! Shop Quaker State 400 tickets No. 20 Christopher Bell, Joe Gibbs Racing Christopher Bell won the last Cup Series race at EchoPark in February, barely beating Carson Hocevar and Kyle Larson in a three-wide photo finish. Bell has been strong at the venue over the last two seasons, and following a wreck at Pocono Raceway, he will be looking to sweep the season's two races at EchoPark for a fourth win in 2025. No. 22 Joey Logano, Team Penske Joey Logano won the 2024 Quaker State 400 at EchoPark, marking his first playoff win en route to a third Cup Series championship. Logano and Team Penske continue to lead the way on superspeedways, including EchoPark in February, when the organization led 131 of the 266 laps. The driver of the No. 22 car should be strong and competing for another victory. No. 5 Kyle Larson, Hendrick Motorsports Kyle Larson has zero superspeedway wins in the Cup Series and enters EchoPark in a slump. Larson hasn't led any laps in the last four races, and despite his struggles on superspeedways, the track gives him optimism for this weekend. The driver of the No. 5 car finished in third place in February and could be knocking on the door for his first superspeedway victory. No. 12 Ryan Blaney, Team Penske There is no better driver at EchoPark than Ryan Blaney in the NextGen car era. Over the last six races at the venue, Blaney has a worst finish of ninth place, earning 36-plus points in each event. The driver of the No. 12 car hasn't won at EchoPark in the NextGen car era; however, his time could be coming soon on Saturday night. Shop Quaker State 400 tickets No. 77 Carson Hocevar, Spire Motorsports Carson Hocevar nearly won his first career Cup Series race at EchoPark in February, and the No. 77 team's performances indicate that a breakthrough is coming soon. Hocevar has been very fast in the summer, and going back to a track where he nearly won in February could be the perfect situation. The driver of the No. 77 car is getting close to victory lane, and the night of the 2025 Quaker State 400 could be the moment. Borussia Dortmund signs Jobe Bellingham, Real Madrid star Jude's younger brother
Sunderland's Jobe Bellingham kisses the trophy following the Sky Bet Championship play off final between Sheffield United and Sunderland, at Wembley Stadium, London, Saturday May 24, 2025. (John Walton/PA via AP) DORTMUND, Germany (AP) — The Bellingham name is back at Borussia Dortmund. Jobe Bellingham signed a five-year-deal on Tuesday with the German club where his older brother developed into one of the world's best midfielders before joining Real Madrid in 2023. Advertisement The younger Bellingham, 19, leaves Sunderland just over two weeks after helping it to win promotion back to the Premier League through the playoff final. He reportedly turned down an offer from Eintracht Frankfurt. Bellingham is eligible for Dortmund's opening group-stage games this month at the Club World Cup in the United States. He will wear No. 77 at the tournament, Dortmund said. Dortmund starts against Brazil's Fluminense on June 17 followed by Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa on June 21 and South Korea's Ulsan HD four days after that. Following in his brother's footsteps Just like Jude, Jobe Bellingham is a central midfielder who likes to get forward and support attacks. Advertisement Jobe has followed in his brother's footsteps by coming through the Birmingham City academy and making his senior debut at the age of 16 in 2022. He's also played for England Under-21s. There are a couple of differences between the Bellinghams, too. Jobe is two years older than Jude was when he signed for Dortmund in 2020, and he also has experience of playing a center-forward role in a handful of games for Sunderland. His performances for Sunderland in the second-division Championship this season saw Bellingham named the league's young player of the year in April and named in its team of the season. Advertisement Bellingham joins a Dortmund team which narrowly secured Champions League qualification for next season by rising to fourth place on the final day of the Bundesliga. ___ AP soccer:

Denny Hamlin wins fuel-mileage battle at Michigan International Speedway
Denny Hamlin took the lead with three laps remaining to win a fuel-mileage battle at Michigan International Speedway. Hamlin moved into first on Lap 197 of 200 past William Byron, who had to pit for fuel in the closing laps and finished 21st. Chris Buesher finished second, followed by Ty Gibbs, Bubba Wallace and Kyle Larson. Ross Chastain, Zane Smith, Kyle Busch, Ryan Preece and Brad Keselowski rounded out the top 10. For the third consecutive race, Carson Hocevar had a good chance to break through for his first Cup Series victory, but the Spire Motorsports driver suffered a cut left-rear tire while leaving with 19 laps remaining. The Portage, Michigan, native was forced to pit under green and fell a lap down in 30th after leading 22 laps. Hocevar tied a career-best finish at Nashville Superspeedway last week and was in contention for the Coca-Cola 600 before an engine failure in his No. 77 Chevrolet. The race was stopped ror more than 11 minutes by a red flag for cleanup of a five-car crash in Turn 2 on Lap 67. Alex Bowman took the worst of it, getting turned into a head-on collision with the outside wall by contact from Cole Custer (who had been hit by Austin Cindric). Bowman walked away from his mangled No. 48 Chevrolet, but his freefall in the points standings continued with his seventh finish of 27th or worse in the past nine races. 'That hurt a lot,' Bowman told Prime pit reporter Kim Coon. 'That was probably top of the board on hits I've taken, and unfortunately I've had a lot of hits. So I hate that for the 48 team. Couldn't really do anything except think about 'Oh (expletive) this is about to hurt really bad.' 'Hate that for our team. It's been a rough two months. I mean, honesty, we were pretty decent (in practice), I was pretty optimistic to start today. We got super loose and just had a long pit stop trying to make an adjustment to make it better. And never really got a chance to race again after that. I'm confident that my guys would have gotten the car better, and we could have gotten back up through there, but unfortunately, when you get in the back like that, (expletive) gets pretty crazy, and stuff like that happens.' WILL BE UPDATED Stage 1 winner: Buescher Stage 2 winner: Byron Next up: Sunday, June 15, 3 p.m. ET at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez road course in Mexico City on Prime.

Ryan Blaney races to first NASCAR Cup Series victory of the year at Nashville
Associated Press LEBANON, Tenn. (AP) — Ryan Blaney gave fans a burnout to celebrate kicking off the second half of the NASCAR season by running away down the stretch for his first Cup Series victory of the year Sunday night at Nashville Superspeedway. 'I'm ready to go celebrate,' Blaney said. The 2023 Cup champ had been racing well with five top-five finishes over the first half of this season. He finally got to victory lane in the No. 12 Ford Mustang for Team Penske for his 14th career victory and first since Martinsville in November. 'I never gave up hope that's for sure," Blaney said. "We've had great speed all year. It just hasn't really been the best year for us as far as good fortune. But (No.) 12 boys are awesome. They stick with it no matter how it goes.' He became the ninth different winner this season and the fifth driver to win in as many races at Nashville. He also gave Team Penske a second straight Cup win at Nashville's 1.33-mile concrete track. Blaney, who started 15th, quickly drove his way to the front as he won the second stage. He easily held off Carson Hocevar by 2.83 seconds. Hocevar matched his career-best finish at Atlanta in February after complaining during the race that his No. 77 Chevrolet was undriveable. 'Either I'm really dramatic or they're really good on adjustments," Hocevar said. "Probably a little bit of both, but, yeah, proud of this group proud of this car. A place that is really, really difficult to pass, we're able to go 26th to second.' Denny Hamlin finished third in his 700th career Cup Series race, matching the third-place finish by Jeff Gordon at Darlington in 2013 for the best finish in a driver's 700th race. Joey Logano, who won here last year, was fourth and William Byron fifth. Hamlin was hoping for one more caution that never came after seven cautions for 35 laps. 'Just couldn't run with the 12 (Blaney) there in the super long run," Hamlin said. "After 40 laps, I could maintain with him. But then after that, he just pulled away and stretched it on us.' There was a sprint to the finish under green forcing teams and drivers to pick and choose went to pit. Blaney had led 107 laps when he went to the pits under green flag on lap 248. Hamlin took the lead before going to pit road on lap 256. Brad Keselowski had the lead when he went to the pits on lap 269, and Blaney took the lead for the final 31 laps. Waiting on a call Hamlin raced Sunday night hoping to take advantage of his starting spot spot beside pole-sitter Chase Briscoe. Whether Hamlin would chase his third win this season had been in question with his third child, a boy, due the same day. Hamlin practiced and qualified well, so he drove his No. 11 Toyota even as Joe Gibbs Racing had Ryan Truex on standby in case Hamlin got the call that his fiancee was in labor. Hamlin won the first stage. Tyler Reddick beat his boss Hamlin, a co-owner of his 23XI Racing team, to new parent status, which Reddick announced on social media earlier Sunday. His family welcomed their second son at 2:20 a.m. on May 25, then Reddick followed up hours later by finishing 26th in the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte. Early night Ricky Stenhouse Jr. didn't finish his first race this year. He was the first out when Hocevar tapped his No. 47 Chevrolet, spinning Stenhouse into the wall between Turns 3 and 4 for the second caution of the race on lap 106. Punishment and more penalties possible? AJ Allmendinger started at the back of the field and served a stop-and-go penalty after the green flag for an unapproved adjustment to the splitter during Saturday's practice. His No. 16 Chevrolet was sent back to the garage and then the scanning station before practice and qualifying. The No. 66 Ford of Chad Finchum failed inspection twice leading to engineer Austin Webb's ejection. The Garage 66 team also lost pit stall selection. Up next NASCAR heads to Michigan International Speedway for the Cup Series on June 8. ___ AP auto racing: recommended
