IMSA Watkins Glen results, points: Acura wins again as Blomqvist saves just enough juice
Stretching his hybrid battery to the aboslute limit when a rival couldn't, Tom Blomqvist took the lead on the last lap to win the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar race at Watkins Glen International. Blomqvist's No. 60 Meyer Shank Racing Acura ARX-06 crossed the finish line with less than 1% of its battery power reamining and finished 1.880 seconds ahed of the No. 40 Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac. The No. 10 WTR Cadillac finished third. 'The guys gave me a target, and we were able to execute,' Blomqvist told NBC Sports' Dave Burns on Peacock. 'The car came alive there. I knew we just needed a bit space. We were able to capitalize on a couple of restarts. The guys did a great strategy and the pace was set to be able to hit those really big fuel targets ,and that's what enabled me to go to the end and the others not. Calais Campbell to have conversation with Justin Jones about No. 93 Campbell has worn No. 93 his entire career. Jones has worn it since 2019. The Arizona Cardinals added defensive lineman Calais Campbell this week and he was introduced to the media on Thursday following his contract signing. He has worn No. 93 his entire 17-year career, including the nine seasons he played for the Cardinals from 2008-2016. However, in his return, No. 93 is currently occupied as veteran Justin Jones, who has worn that number since 2019, his second season in the NFL. Has Campbell already had a conversation with Jones about a possible jersey change? Not yet. "We haven't had a conversation yet, but he's another guy that I know fairly well," Campbell told reporters on Thursday. "We've trained together in years past and stuff for a few weeks, so we have a relationship. It's a conversation, something to figure out, you know, but we'll work through it and work it out." The offseason program will begin April 22. We will see if something gets worked out before then. Jones wore No. 91 as a rookie with the Chargers, but that is the number that L.J. Collier wears.
