Heads of State movie review: John Cena-Idris Elba-Priyanka Chopra Jonas' action comedy is predictable but entertaining
Heads of State is a fun film which works because of its high entertainment quotient. read more Star cast: John Cena, Idris Elba, Priyanka Chopra, Jack Quaid, Paddy Considine, Stephen Root, and Carla Gugino Director: Ilya Naishuller After impressing the audience with Hardcore Henry and Nobody, filmmaker and musician Ilya Viktorovich Naishuller is now gearing up to take cinegoers on an adrenaline rush with his upcoming action comedy Heads Of State. While the movie's promo looked fun, let's see whether it turns out to be an entertaining affair or not… STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Heads of State starts with a senior MI6 agent, Noel Bisset (Priyanka Chopra Jonas) and his team, along with the CIA, doing a covert operation at Bunol, Spain, during the Tomatino festival to hunt down Viktor Gradov (Paddy Considine), an arms dealer turned extremist. However, Viktor, along with his henchmen, who had set a trap for the officers, hunts them as his tech genius, Arthur Hammond (Stephen Root), infiltrates the echelon, the high-tech political secret system of the USA. Cut to the actor-turned-American President Will Derringer (John Cena) and UK Prime Minister Sam Clarke (Idris Elba), who are not fond of each other, meeting at the Oval Office and taking potshots at one another. Their assistants convince them to travel together to the NATO Summit, as it will make the biggest headlines in global newspapers. However, their aeroplane gets attacked by Viktor's henchmen, and while the plane crashes, the duo manages to survive. As Sam and Will need to reach the summit, they need to find the motive behind their assassination and the conspiracy which can impact the global system. Well, honestly, Head of State reminds me of old-style Bollywood movies when it comes to plot, but scores high on the visual presentation, along with action choreography and crisp editing by Tom Harrison-Read. Ilya has handled a generic plot quite well to make it entertaining with some eye-grabbing highlights and made sure people enjoy the onscreen camaraderie between the lead characters. However, the romantic angle between Idris and PeeCee seems to be forced or rather unnecessary, in the movie. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Talking about the performances, John, Elba, and Priyanka seem to have fun with their parts with their witty dialogues and performing kickass action. Paddy, as Viktor, is decent but lacks the punch as the antagonist. Jack Quaid literally won the heart with his superb comic timing as Agent Comer. On the whole, Heads of State is a fun film which works because of its high entertainment quotient. Rating: 3 (out of 5 stars) Heads of State is releasing on 2nd July

Priyanka Chopra On Working With John Cena & Idris Elba In Heads Of State: 'I Didn't Feel Left Out At All'
Priyanka Chopra on working with John Cena & Idris Elba in Heads of State: 'It wasn't like high school… I had a great time.' Premieres July 2 on Prime Video. When John Cena and Idris Elba team up, chaos is inevitable — but with Priyanka Chopra Jonas entering the scene, it transforms into full-blown cinematic mayhem. Their latest film Heads of State, set to premiere globally on Prime Video on July 2, brings together this high-powered trio in an action-comedy packed with slick suits, sharp dialogue, and global political pandemonium. After their unforgettable camaraderie in The Suicide Squad (2021), Cena and Elba reunite — this time as President of the United States Will Deringer and British Prime Minister Sam Clarke. Priyanka Chopra steps into the fray as MI6 agent Noel Bisset, bringing both edge and elegance to the explosive ensemble. Reflecting on her experience filming alongside the two powerhouse stars, Priyanka shared, 'Oh, it was amazing. I didn't feel left out at all. It wasn't like… It wasn't like it was high school. They wanted to work together when they did Suicide Squad, and that's where the inception of the movie came about. And Peter Safran (Producer) was like, we've got to bottle and sell this. So I'm just really happy to be on the ride with them and be the only girl in this, like, really masculine energy. I had a great time." Directed by Ilya Naishuller, the mind behind Nobody, the film boasts a star-studded supporting cast including Paddy Considine, Stephen Root, Carla Gugino, Jack Quaid, and Sarah Niles. With its high-octane set pieces, razor-sharp banter, and political satire, Heads of State is shaping up to be a summer blockbuster with global appeal. The movie will stream in multiple languages including English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. Ahead of its release, Priyanka hosted an intimate screening for her family and close friends. Early reactions have been glowing with praise. One attendee called it a must-see and lauded Priyanka's performance, while another described the film as terrific and congratulated her personally. Others shared their enthusiasm online, urging viewers not to miss the film when it drops on Prime Video. Priyanka reposted many of these reactions on her Instagram Stories, giving fans a preview of the buzz building around the movie. The trailer teases a blend of international espionage, high-stakes diplomacy, and unapologetic comedy, with Priyanka leading some of the most thrilling sequences. Produced by Amazon MGM Studios, Heads of State fuses political absurdity with blockbuster energy — a slick, fast-paced film with global stakes. Beyond Heads of State, Priyanka Chopra continues to expand her global acting footprint. She is set to star in SSMB 29, directed by SS Rajamouli and co-starring Mahesh Babu — a project that marks her first collaboration with the legendary filmmaker. She is also preparing for The Bluff, a swashbuckling adventure set in the 19th-century Caribbean, in which she plays a former pirate forced to confront her past to protect her family. The film also features Karl Urban and Ismael Cruz Córdova. First Published:

Priyanka Chopra calls out quote on virginity and marriage falsely attributed to her: ‘Don't believe everything you scroll past'
Priyanka Chopra is busy promoting her upcoming Hollywood action comedy Heads of State, but she couldn't help but notice a quote doing the rounds on social media which has been falsely attributed to her. The actor decided to call it out and clarified that she never said those words. She also cautioned against the misuse of social media. The quote in question read, 'Don't look for virgins as wife. Get a woman with good manners. Virginity ends in one night but manners last forever.' Priyanka shared the screenshot of a portal attributing the quote to her on her Instagram Stories and wrote, 'This is not me, my quote or my voice. Just because it's online, doesn't make it true.' Priyanka Chopra warned her followers against falling for similar fake content. 'Creating fake content is now an easy way to achieve virality. None of the links or 'sources' attached to this claim, or many others online, are reliable or credible. Take a minute to crosscheck such content and don't believe anything you scroll past. Stay safe online,' added the actor. On her appearance on The Ranveer Show in 2023, Priyanka had insisted on the importance of being a 'bold girl' instead of a 'good girl'. She had said, 'Good girls don't make history. Bold girls make history. Bold people make history. So if you want to be the lead actor of your movie, which is your life, you've got to make choices that might be contrary to what you've heard.' Meanwhile, Priyanka Chopra's next film Heads of State will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on July 2. Directed by Ilya Naishuller of Nobody fame, the globetrotting adventure movie features Priyanka alongside Idris Elba and John Cena. It's about the US President (Cena) and the UK Prime Minister (Elba), who must set aside their rivalry to thwart a global conspiracy and save the world — if they can work together. Priyanka is currently shuttling between the US and India as she's also filming for SS Rajamouli's next directorial opposite Mahesh Babu. Meanwhile, season 2 of her spy thriller show Citadel, which was set to release in 2025, has been delayed until spring 2026 as the show, produced by Joe and Anthony Russo's AGBO, is facing challenges once again. The first season of the hit show featured Priyanka Chopra alongside Richard Madden. The spy series, which spanned across six episodes, also starred Stanley Tucci, Lesley Manville, Ashleigh Cummings, Roland Moller, and Rahul Kohli, among others. Shooting for the second season was completed in November 2023. However, Amazon MGM is now making changes to improve the final product. Congress leaders harbouring Emergency mindset: BJP MP
Indore: BJP MP and spokesman Sudhanshu Trivedi on Wednesday accused Congress leaders of harbouring 'Emergency period mindset' that they were above Constitution and their ambitions outweighed national interests. "Congress believes in the objectionable slogan of 'India is Indira and Indira is India.' The same mindset of Emergency remains prevalent in the party even today. And leaders like Rahul Gandhi consider themselves above Constitution," Trivedi said while addressing a press conference to mark 50 years of Emergency. He said that June 25, 1975 marked a black chapter in the history of Indian democracy as fundamental rights of citizens were trampled, freedom of expression was shackled, and voices of the Opposition were crushed. "Congress wants to run the country according to its convenience. If it wins elections, it doesn't have any problem with Constitution, but after any setback in polls, it starts claiming that the Constitution is in danger," he said, referring to Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi waving the 'red book' in Congress rallies. Trivedi questioned Gandhi's comments during his foreign visits and said, "Months ago, Rahul Gandhi went abroad and asked why the defenders of democracy - US and Europe - were silent on India. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like The Dark Truth Nobody Talks About! Expertinspector Click Here Undo Calling them defenders… Such utterances show the party's Emergency mindset. Their political ambitions outweigh interests of the nation." To a query, Trivedi said that the West Asia crisis was nothing but a fight between Muslim countries for supremacy. "One pole of this fight is Saudi Arabia, the leader of the Sunni world, and the other pole is Iran, the leader of the Shia world. We hope that a positive spirit will emerge and the crisis in West Asia will be resolved peacefully soon," he said.
