Kasabian singer, songwriter and record producer, Sergio 'Serge' Pizzorno has receive an honorary degree from the University of Leicester. The 45-year-old co-founder of the Leicestershire indie rock outfit has racked up seven UK number one albums. Serge took to the stage at De Montfort Hall, on Wednesday 16 July, to accept his honorary Doctorate of Music at one of the University's summer graduation ceremonies. Speaking on the stage as he received his degree, Serge said: 'I'd like to give a huge thank you to the university for this incredible honour, and all of you graduating today, nice one, let's have a round of applause for you all.'Here you are gloriously robed, cap on head and brilliant. Also, a shout out to the lecturers, professors and academic wizards who guided you, to the parents and friends and families who sent you beer money thinking it was for text books. 'This is your life, not mine, your path will be beautifully different. Change is growth, it isn't failure, it means you're alive, you're learning, you're paying attention – never be afraid to change your course.'Embrace the scary stuff, because that's where the magic lives.'You are capable of more than you think, you won't find that by staying in your comfort zone. Also, play. Play with ideas, play with failure, play like it matters and sometimes play like it doesn't. The outcomes will arrive, the joy is in the process and that's where the real gold is.'Dedicate. When you find something you love, pursue it with everything you've got. There's no deadline on discovery, embrace that chaos.' Kasabian's accolades puts them on a par with the likes of Blur, Muse, The Prodigy, Paul McCartney, Barbra Streisand, Elton John and Ed Sheeran. Kasabian's members met while attending Leysland High School and Countesthorpe Community College, both in the village of Countesthorpe, south of has been with the band since 1997 with notable highlights including a 2014 Glastonbury headline spot and three appearances at Victoria Park, next to the University campus – one of which was to celebrate Leicester City FC's Premier League title in 2016. Together, they also wrote the music for the second series of the show, which aired in 2014. Serge is also listed as an executive producer on the film Walk Like a Panther (2018). In 2019, he released his first solo album, THE Nishan Canagarajah, university president and vice-chancellor, said: 'This homegrown talent has not only delivered his iconic brand of music to vast audiences worldwide but here too in Victoria Park – helping Leicester celebrate huge moments of joy through our local football team and adding to the fantastic vibrancy of our multi-cultural city. "Sergio has undoubtedly helped put the city of Leicester on the map and this accolade today is our way of acknowledging this and our sense of pride in his achievements.'

THE fate of a beloved panel show has been revealed following 32 series on air. Iconic comedy game Never Mind The Buzzcocks first launched on BBC Two in 1996. 4 4 4 It combines classic comedy panel show with a pop music theme. Following a six year hiatus, the show relaunched on Sky Max in 2021. The programme has now been renewed for a new series - its fifth since being revived. Greg Davies was selected as presenter when Never Mind The Buzzcocks returned to screen. Joining the Taskmaster star is Noel Fielding, who reprises his team captain role from the original run. Daisy May Cooper leads the other team, while Jamali Maddix is a regular panelist. Mark Lamarr was the original presenter, followed by Simon Amstell and then Rhod Gilbert. For several years, numerous guest hosts took over presenting duties. Some examples include Jonathan Ross, who was the first guest presenter. Meanwhile, Johnny Vegas, was the show's final guest presenter. Lliana took to Instagram to share a gallery of photographs of the comedian, 52, as she gushed over their 15 years together. She included sweet photographs of her and Noel sharing a kiss and cuddling up to one another, as well as solo shots of him out-and-about in nature. His birthday celebrations come after Noel sparked concern when he quit the second season of his AppleTV's show The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin. His publicists confirmed he would not be returning to film the show after the Christmas break due to an unknown 'health reason', with the series being scrapped. After a successful first series, which he co-wrote and starred in, filming for a second series took place at the end of last year. But when filming was set to resume after the Christmas holidays, cast and crew were told it had been axed three-quarters of the way into the shoot. Upon returning to film in January, cast and crew members were told the production was being axed due to 'the illness of a key cast member'. Two weeks ago, Noel also made a rare public appearance at a Kasabian gig in London's O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire. He appeared to be in fine spirits as he gatecrashed the stage amid the joint BRITs Week 25 gig with indie rock band Blossoms in aid of War Child. In a clip shared to X, the Great British Bake Off star could be seen greeting Kasabian lead singer Serge Pizzorno before taking the mic. Noel then gave a shout out to the cheering crowd gathered at the venue, before remarking: 'It's all kicking off backstage. Me and Prue just did Jägerbombs, Prue Leith.' The excited TV personality, dressed in a colourful jumper and is signature skintight jeans, then planted a kiss on Sege's head before returning the mic and walking off.
