Akhilesh Yadav to move into new office-cum-residence in Azamgarh

1 2 Varanasi: Built on a campus of over 3 bigha area (81,000 sq ft), a two-storey building will be the residence of Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav in Anwarganj area of Azamgarh district, into which he will formally move at noon on Thursday and address party workers. Busy with finalisation of preparations for the housewarming ceremony under supervision of local SP MP Dharmendra Yadav at Anwarganj, the party's district president, Hawaldar Yadav, said, "Our leader has often said that if Etawah was like a heart for him, Azamgarh is its beat. And now he will even have a new residence here." According to Hawaldar, most of the 3 bigha area is open, while a two-storey building with a sloped roof has residential space on the upper floor, while the party office will run on ground floor. The building comprises about six rooms and two halls, including one for meeting with party workers. Painted white, the new premises is located around 3 km from the main city and 6 km from Manduri airstrip. For the Saifai Yadav clan, Azamgarh turned into a safe castle due to vote bank. In the previous 18 general elections and three by-elections for Azamgarh LS seat, Yadav candidates emerged victorious 15 times, while Muslim candidates emerged victorious thrice, including in two by-elections. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch CFD với công nghệ và tốc độ tốt hơn IC Markets Đăng ký Undo Non-Yadav and non-Muslim candidates won this seat in 1952, 1957, and 1984. Even the Bharatiya Janata Party won this seat in a general election once fielding turncoat politician and jailed MLA Ramakant Yadav and a by-election fielding Bhojpuri cine star Dinesh Lal Yadav Nirahua. In view of the same equations, SP founder, late Mulayam Singh Yadav, made Azamgarh axis of his east UP politics. Due to around 40% OBC and almost 20% Muslim population, even in neighbouring districts Mau, Ambedkarnagar, Ghazipur and Jaunpur, he used to create a cascading effect of the tempo maintained by him there at assembly and LS seats of these districts too. After winning the 2014 LS election from Azamgarh, Mulayam spared it for Akhilesh in 2019. After winning the 2019 LS poll from Azamgarh, Akhilesh surrendered it in 2022 to return to the UP assembly. But before quitting the Azamgarh LS seat, he fulfilled demand of his party leaders and supporters to have a house in the district. Hawaldar said the land for this home was purchased in 2020. The association shown by Akhilesh with east UP helped him and his alliance win around 31 seats of 61 assembly constituencies in 10 districts of this region. In 2024, SP not only wrested the Azamgarh seat from BJP but also performed well in all neighbouring LS seats, including Ghazipur, Ballia, Mau, Jaunpur, and Chandauli.
