Sepang police chief ACP Norhizam Bahaman said the three individuals, aged 19 to 20, were arrested in Johor Bahru, Johor, and Gemencheh, in Negeri Sembilan, within 48 hours after police received a report on the incident. "They are believed to be known to the victim," he said in a statement today. The police have applied for an order at the Sepang Sessions Court to remand them to facilitate investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code. The public is advised not to speculate or share false information that could interfere with the police investigation. Meanwhile, the three suspects have been remanded for seven days starting today. The remand order was issued by sessions court judge Azaraorani Abdul Rahman this morning, Berita Harian reported. Police arrested the trio – a man and two women aged 19 and 20 – around Johor Bahru, Johor, and Gemencheh, Negeri Sembilan, between 9am yesterday and 2am today. Sepang police chief Norhizam Bahaman said all three suspects were known to the victim, University of Cyberjaya student Maniishapriet Kaur Akhara, who was found dead in her condominium unit by a friend at about 10am on June 24. She was staying in the room with five other students, but her housemates had reportedly returned to their hometowns for the holidays on June 21. An autopsy identified her cause of death as blunt force trauma to the head. Sepang police chief Norhizam Bahaman said the suspects, a man and two women, were aged 19 and 20. They were arrested around Johor Bahru, Johor, and Gemencheh, Negeri Sembilan, between 9am yesterday and 2am today. All three suspects were known to the victim. 'The arrests were made within 48 hours after the police report was lodged (on the victim's death). 'We will apply to remand all three suspects at the Sepang sessions court this morning to assist in investigations,' Norhizam said in a statement. Investigations are being held under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. The victim, University of Cyberjaya student Maniishapriet Kaur Akhara, was found dead in her condominium unit by a friend at about 10am on June 24. She was staying in the room with five other students, but her housemates had reportedly returned to their hometowns for the holidays on June 21. An autopsy identified her cause of death as blunt force trauma to the head. Police said there were no signs that her residence had been broken into, and that she had not suffered injuries consistent with rape. Police previously said that a male suspect had used Maniishapriet's debit card to withdraw money from five to six ATMs not long after the murder. A laptop, handphone, and cash belonging to Maniishapriet were also said to be missing.

KUALA LUMPUR: A man and two women were detained in connection with the murder of a 20-year-old female private university student in the Klang Valley. Sepang OCPD Asst Comm Norhizam Bahaman (pic) said the suspects, aged 19 and 20 years old, were nabbed in Johor Baru, Johor and Gemencheh, Negri Sembilan on Thursday (June 26) and early Friday (June 27) morning. "They were nabbed within 48 hours of the police report lodged on the incident. "The suspects will be brought to the Sepang Sessions Court for the remand application," he said when contacted on Friday. The case is classified under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, he added. "We hope the public will not speculate on the case or share unverified news that could jeopardise the investigation. "We will take stern action on any unlawful act," he said. It was previously reported that the victim, a Bachelor of Physiotherapy student, was found dead in a students' hostel. The victim, who was from Kuching, Sarawak, was discovered unconscious with visible injuries on her body by her friend at about 10am on Tuesday (June 24). The friend then immediately alerted the police. She was living with five other students but they had returned home for the holidays on June 21, leaving her alone at the hostel as she was scheduled to sit for an upcoming examination. The victim's ATM card was among several valuables reported missing from the scene, including a laptop, mobile phone, and cash. Cops also found no element of rape in the murder of the victim. A post-mortem revealed that the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head.
