N.S. RCMP investigating alleged shooting in North Preston
The Nova Scotia RCMP is investigating an alleged shooting near a school in North Preston over the weekend. Police responded to a report of a vehicle being shot on Downey Road near Nelson Whynder Elementary School and the North Preston Cemetery around 7 p.m. on Saturday, according to an RCMP news release. There were no reported injuries. Police believe the shooting, which shattered the window of a vehicle, happened around 6:30 p.m. The investigation indicates a metal pellet hit the vehicle. North Preston man charged with attempted murder following stabbing: N.S. RCMP
A 24-year-old North Preston, N.S., man has been charged with attempted murder following a stabbing in the community Tuesday. RCMP officers responded to a report of an assault with a weapon at a home on Churchill Terrace around 11:45 a.m. Police say two men, who are know to one another, were in a fight when one of the men stabbed the other. The victim, a 22-year-old North Preston man, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital by ambulance. Tyrese Seymour Byrne was arrested at the scene and has been charged with attempt to commit murder. Byrne was held in custody and was scheduled to appear in Dartmouth provincial court Wednesday. Man arrested for allegedly stabbing another man at North Preston, N.S., home

Officers responded to a reported assault in a home on Churchill Terrace around 11:45 a.m., according to Cpl. Guillaume Tremblay, RCMP public information officer. Police learned two men who were known to each other allegedly got into an altercation before one of them stabbed the other. The victim went to hospital and officers arrested the suspect at the scene. N.S. RCMP continues to seek information from public on shooting death of North Preston man
Tyrell Romone Beals is pictured in a photo submitted by family. Police in Nova Scotia continue to seek answers from the public into the shooting death of a 36-year-old man that happened one year ago. Halifax Regional Police received a report that a man was shot near the 1100 block of Downey Road in North Preston just before midnight on May 8, 2024. The victim, Tyrell Beals, of Westphal, N.S., was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police began investigating his death as a homicide and said at the time there was no information to suggest it was a random act. Police say Beals' homicide remains unsolved and they need information from the public to advance their investigation. 'We need your help to bring closure to his loved ones,' says Sgt. Jason Withrow of the RCMP/HRP Integrated Criminal Investigation Division in a news release Thursday. Police are asking anyone who was in the area of Downey Road on May 8, 2024, or has information regarding Beals' death to contact them at 902-490-5020.
