Maybe 2025 Won't Be Such a Quiet Year for Rivian
The EV maker is launching a leasing deal with $0 down. Rivian is also initiating its first major marketing campaign. The R2 launch will be a critical turning point for the company. 10 stocks we like better than Rivian Automotive › Rivian Automotive (NASDAQ: RIVN) has come a long way in such a short time. It's challenging to produce vehicles, let alone make high-quality ones that are well-received by critics and consumers alike -- and Rivian has achieved that goal. 2025 was setting up to be a quiet year, with its next vehicle launch, the highly anticipated R2, not until 2026. But don't tell Rivian it's supposed to be a quiet year, as the company is attempting to spark lackluster sales in two ways. Come one, come all, Rivian is seemingly yelling at potential consumers as the company is bringing in spring with a new offer designed to boost sales. Through May, consumers can lease any Rivian R1 dual-motor electric vehicle (EV) with a Max battery and performance upgrade for $0 down. Rivian announced the "Nothing But Adventure" lease offer program, noting that it would cover your lease down payment with a $6,500 offer. Even better, consumers can also pair this savings with the usual $7,500 EV credit that is written into each lease. This is a move often seen when demand wanes, but it could be just the move Rivian needs right now to boost sales that have been lackluster in recent quarters. But its leasing offer isn't the only way Rivian is attempting to spark sales, and its second move will also build brand awareness. Investors know that Rivian's R1 vehicles have been a hit with consumers and critics, but what investors might not know is just how much consumers are invested in their Rivians. There are independently run Rivian Clubs of America spanning 35 states, which often include trips and other gatherings. Rivian is attempting to tap into this unique brand passion with its first major marketing campaign. The campaign, named "Real Rivian Adventures," will use actual stories from real Rivian consumers and turn them into advertisements. One example is the "Last Lemonade Standing," inspired by an owner's Facebook post. The ad situates a neighborhood boy using a Rivian vehicle outlet, in a feature unique to some EVs, to blend lemonade slushies to compete against another stand. The paid media plan will include spots on streaming services and social media, with possible buys on broadcast TV, per Rivian's vice president of marketing, Denise Cherry. This is a bigger move than investors might think, as Rivian has largely relied on word of mouth to grow its brand awareness. It's barely dipped its toes in advertising prior to this, and it could be just the move the young EV automaker needs in 2025 to spark sales in an otherwise quiet year. Now, investors can sit back and see how these moves impact sales throughout 2025. At the same time, investors will want to watch the development of the R2 launch coming in 2026. So far, everything is on pace for launch, and construction on the company's original plant for its additional production capacity is on track. Right now, it's all aboard for a marketing push, branding building, and launching the R2 -- maybe 2025 won't be so quiet for Rivian after all. Rivian Launches Killer R1S & R1T 3 Lease Offer
Rivian has taken the EV SUV and Truck segments by storm with ultra-modern and head-turning style, impressive range, real utility, and serious performance in its R1S and R1T vehicles. Getting into a premium EV just got easier with the announcement of Rivian's 'Nothing But Adventure' lease offers. Zero down payment should get your attention, especially for a premium EV. Both vehicles are tremendously powerful, quick, and capable. The R1T's standard Dual-Motor delivers 553 horsepower and 610 lb-ft of torque, while the Performance Dual-Motor ramps those numbers up to 665 hp and 829 lb-ft. There are tri-motor and quad-motor versions with upwards of 1,025 horsepower and 1,198 lb-ft of torque. The slowest dual-motor still rockets to 60 mph from a standstill in 4.3 seconds. The quad motor will do it in a supercar-like 2.5 seconds. Both 2025 Rivian models provide standard all-wheel drive and air suspension, as well as reduced weight, revised lithium-iron-phosphate batteries, and new suspension tuning. The 2025 R1T can tow a maximum of 11,000 pounds when properly equipped and is rated for a 1,764-pound payload. The R1S's towing capacity is significantly less at 7,700 pounds. In terms of people-hauling, the R1T has room for five, and the R1S can house up to seven passengers. Both models have a huge, horizontally mounted 15.6-inch infotainment system running navigation, media, and climate controls. Rivian does not provide Apple CarPlay or Android Auto on its OS. The infotainment screen is paired with a 12-inch instrument screen that throws up vital data like speed, range, battery consumption, energy efficiency, navigation directions, and cruise control settings. Even with minimal physical controls, Rivian's in-car tech runs smoothly and has an easy learning curve. U.S. customers can take advantage of the deals on the R1S (SUV) or R1T (pickup truck) Dual Max with Performance Upgrade by ordering from the R1 Shop with zero money down. Rivian will cover the $6,500 down payment. If you lease any R1 Dual with Max battery and Performance, there's an additional $7,500 via the EV lease credit that will be applied directly to the lease, and that sweetens the deal even more. Monthly lease prices start at $779/month for the R1T and $809/month for the R1S. With up to 410 miles of all-electric range on the R1S and 420 miles on the R1T, there's no worries about range anxiety, on top of not having to part with thousands when signing the lease deal. Customers must take advantage of this lease deal between May 1, 2025 and May 31, 2025, and they must take delivery on or before May 31, 2025 If you're not a first-time EV buyer and you have an EV to trade in for a new Rivian lease, you can choose a different R1 configuration and trade your old one in to get $10,500 in leasing offers. So, whether you want to get your first EV or your second (or third), there's a great deal to be had in the month of May. Learn more here. Whether or not Rivian's pre-tariff battery stockpile played a role, this is a great deal for lessees. The Rivian 'Nothing But Adventure' lease deal is only good for a month, and it provides thousands of dollars toward these two cutting-edge EVs. Each model provides tremendous space, power, comfort, and utility, not to mention impressive all-electric range and modern styling that looks like nothing else on the road. When leasing, take into account the monthly payment cost, taxes, and fees before signing.
