Nothing just made a move that fans have been waiting on

Phone (2). | Image credit – PhoneArena As the countdown to the Phone (3) begins, Nothing isn't just hyping up the new hardware – it's also making serious moves on the software side. Remember when Nothing dropped its own Gallery app alongside Nothing OS 3.0 last year? Well, now it's finally getting the editing tools it should've had from the start. Carl Pei shared the news in a series of posts and this update really does bring some important new tools that make the app feel a lot more the core of the update is a full editor that lets you handle both photo and video tweaks right inside the app. No need for third-party tools anymore. Here's what you're getting: Basic editing tools: Six crop and rotation options to get your framing right. Six crop and rotation options to get your framing right. Color tuning: 12 adjustment sliders to fine-tune how your photos look. 12 adjustment sliders to fine-tune how your photos look. Filters: 10 filters designed by Nothing, with adjustable intensity (0–100). 10 filters designed by Nothing, with adjustable intensity (0–100). Video controls: Trim clips, adjust volume, and tweak slow-mo playback speed. Fans finally get the long promised filters. | Image credit – Nothing The app is designed to take advantage of Nothing's own hardware and camera pipeline, so everything should feel snappy and smooth. The company even claims that moving from the camera to the Gallery app is now 20% faster, with image processing speeds improved by 25%. The app now brings a more unified and polished feel across Nothing's UI, from motion effects to typography. Even features like Image Cutout are now powered by the Dot Engine, which brings a unique feel when you long-press on a subject in your photo. There's also AI-based photo categorization. The looks is more unified. | Image credit – Nothing Nothing's promising pro-level control over image quality, too. You can fine-tune things like white balance, contrast and tone curve at full resolution, with almost no quality loss or compression. There's even haptic feedback baked into every tool, giving you a more precise, tactile editing and a bonus for HDR fans: Nothing's Ultra XDR support now keeps HDR data intact using gain maps embedded in JPEGs – something most third-party apps can't manage. In theory, what you see should match exactly what your camera captured... though, of course, we'll have to test that ourselves to be sure. The contrast is not right? You can finally fine-tune it. | Image credit – Nothing Finally, editing is done entirely on-device, which is a big deal for those who care about privacy and quality. This app doesn't push you to the cloud. No forced logins, no syncing across devices, no subscriptions. Your photos stay on your phone – end of story. That is what Nothing says, at least. And that alone makes it stand out. Google Photos, for example, is powerful and convenient and its on-device/cloud hybrid editing is impressive. But once you edit something, it usually ends up synced to your Google account. That can be fine for most people and Google does have some of the strongest security in the business – but if you're the type who wants total control and local-only editing, Nothing's approach might feel way more appealing. It's great to finally see Nothing give its software the type of attention it's been promising for a while. After all, it's something fans have been asking for since the start and was missing from every update so far. Carl Pei says even more features are coming soon and if Nothing wants to be taken seriously in the premium phone space, this kind of polish is a must. Especially with the Phone (3) expected to come in hot around the $800 mark. That's serious iPhone and Galaxy phone money and if Nothing's asking for flagship cash, the experience – software included – needs to match. The Phone (3) launches next week, so keep an eye out. Nothing's bare-bones gallery app scores a major upgrade as Phone 3 launch draws closer

C. Scott Brown / Android Authority TL;DR Nothing has rolled out a significant update for its native gallery app. The update introduces new editing tools for cropping, color grading, and adding filters to images. Nothing Gallery now also features a native video editor that lets you trim clips, adjust volume, and adjust slow-mo video speed. Nothing introduced a native gallery app to its devices with Nothing OS 3.0 last year, offering users an alternative to third-party gallery apps like Google Photos. The app was pretty barebones at launch, featuring a minimal interface and basic photo management tools. Now, Nothing is rolling out a major update that brings some much-needed image and video manipulation tools. Nothing CEO Carl Pei announced the update on X earlier today, highlighting all the included changes. For starters, the Nothing Gallery update brings tools for basic image adjustments, including six cropping and rotation tools. It also introduces a color grading option with twelve tuning parameters and ten Nothing-design filters with intensity adjustments. Nothing has also baked in a basic video editor that lets you trim clips, adjust the volume, and tweak slow-mo video speed. Both the image and video editors have fairly minimalistic interfaces, with tools split across three tabs in the former and two in the latter. Each tool offers subtle haptic feedback for an intuitive user experience. The Nothing Gallery update even brings some performance improvements, with Nothing claiming that transitioning 'from the camera to Gallery is now over 20% faster, with image processing up to 25% quicker.' Additionally, Nothing has introduced AI-powered photo categorization and a unified visual experience that looks more native to Nothing OS. The Nothing Gallery update will begin rolling out via the Google Play Store today, and it should reach all eligible devices by tomorrow. It arrives as Nothing is gearing up to launch its first true flagship, the Nothing Phone 3. The company is expected to announce the device early next month alongside a new pair of headphones. Nothing Phone 3 To Debut With Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 And Major Updates

Last Updated: Nothing Phone 3, powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset, launches in India on July 1. In less than two weeks from now, Nothing will launch its Nothing Phone 3 smartphone in the international market. The UK brand has been teasing key details about the upcoming device on social media. Recently, Nothing co-founder and Head of Marketing Akis Evangelidis hinted towards the software update policy of the company for the new handset. It would mean that the tech brand is looking forward to providing the longest software support for Nothing Phone 3. On X, Evangelidis shared that the upcoming smartphone will be the company's 'first true flagship and a major step up from Phone (2)". For this, they have opted for the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset, which he stated was 'Qualcomm's latest top-tier chip with an all–big core setup, making it even more efficient." In reply, Evangelidis wrote, '8 Gen 3 has a weaker GPU, NPU, connectivity and ISP – and default software support is 4 & 4. Phone (3) will have 5 & 7." While Evangelidis did not provide enough details, his post indicates Nothing Phone 3 will be made available with '5 and 7" software update and not '4 and 4". This means the new smartphone will receive five years of Android OS updates as well as seven years of security patches. If it happens, this would mark a major upgrade over the earlier software support cycles. The Nothing Phone 2, which came out in 2023, offered three years of major Android updates along with four years of security updates. The company assured that the recent Nothing Phone 3a Pro will have three years of Android upgrades and six years of security updates. Notably, tech giants like Google and Samsung have been offering seven generations of Android upgrades with their flagship devices. Meanwhile, Evangelidis has teased that the image quality on Nothing Phone 3 is getting a 'big upgrade with the new Spectra 18-bit Triple ISP." 'It allows for real-time segmentation of up to 12 layers and helps separate and enhance different elements in your photos – so you'll see much better detail, colour accuracy, etc," he added. Nothing Phone 3 will be launched in global markets, including India, on July 1, 2025. Fans can buy it on Flipkart in the country.

Nothing Phone (1) may no longer qualify for Android 16, but the latest update is the next best thing

Nothing's first-ever smartphone, Phone (1), made its debut on the market three years ago. The device originally shipped with Android 12 right out of the box, but Nothing promised it will provide owners with three major OS upgrades. That means that Android 15 was the last major OS upgrade for Nothing Phone (1), something that hasn't changed even though most companies are now offering several years of OS updates for their phones. Although Nothing Phone (1) is no longer receiving OS upgrades, the UK brand offers customers who are still using the device the next best thing: a feature-packed update. Nothing OS v3.2 is now making its way to the original Phone, the company confirmed over the weekend. The update includes important new features and improvements that Nothing Phone (1) have been hopeful to get ever since they were debuted on Nothing's other phones. New Features : Introducing Privacy space: Swipe right in the app drawer for quick and easy access to your secure zone. You can now set a separate privacy password for both App Locker and Privacy space. Hotspot Manager: Easily manage devices connected to your hotspot. Other Improvements : Fixed issue with incorrect light strip display when playing music in Glyph Composer. Use the touch feedback toggle in Settings to disable the face unlock vibration for the lock screen. Updated to Android security patch for June. Fixed accessibility issues in Launcher, Gallery and other apps. General bug fixes and stability enhancements. Nothing Phone (1)'s industrial design makes it stand out | Image credit: PhoneArena As per Nothing's announcement, your Phone (1) may experience temporary overheating and increased consumption during the upgrade, but it should quickly return to normal after the update is complete. The update is rolling out in waves, so it might take some time to reach all Nothing Phone (1) users. It's unclear whether or not this phone will continue to receive feature-packed updates, so perhaps an upgrade to a newer device might be in order. Secure your connection now at a bargain price!
