Before Nothing Phone 3 launch, Nothing gives its Google Photos alternative gallery app an AI makeover
Nothing Phone 3 is coming on July 1 and just before its high-profile global unveiling, Nothing has announced a major update for its in-house gallery app, jacking up its features to make it more relevant and useful for its growing fan-base. Though it will be available across all Nothing devices, the Phone 3 will possibly be the first to launch with the updated Nothing gallery Nothing gallery app is a custom alternative to Google Photos that is available by default on all Android phones. It was first introduced late last year with the Nothing OS 3.0 update. Nothing usually does these things keeping its community in the loop and an in-house gallery app was a highly requested feature. Though, in the beginning, it was all bare bones with basic functionality leaving room for much, much more with future updates the first of which is now available for prime-time and CEO Carl Pei took to X, the platform previously known as Twitter, to green light the update while revealing full details of what's in store for Nothing phone users. Right out of the gate, it is getting some high-level photo and video editing capabilities. Pei said, users can now 'fine-tune key image parametres' including contrast, white balance, tone curve, and more at full resolution with 'close to zero compression or quality loss.' He added that all processing will run locally on device with 'no cloud uploads, no forced accounts, no subscriptions,' highlighting privacy as a critical feature of the new app is also promising up to 25 percent faster performance while processing images. The time to switch from camera to gallery is also reduced by 20 percent, according to Pei, who added that this was the result of tight integration between its phone hardware and camera pipeline. Your interactions with the app will also be now backed by subtle haptic feedback for more precise and intuitive tuning and the gallery app is also getting smarter with AI being able to categorise photos for a more unified visual experience. 'From typography to icons to motion, every element feels native to Nothing,' Pei Nothing gallery update is now available for Nothing phone users and the updated app is also available for download on the Google Play Store with Pei teasing, 'more exciting features are in the works.'- Ends advertisement
