Part of westbound Notre-Dame Street to be closed indefinitely
Part of Notre-Dame Street is set to be closed for an indefinite period of time. (Ville de Montréal) Part of westbound Notre-Dame Street in Montreal's Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough is set to be closed for an indefinite period of time starting Tuesday morning. This comes after a 10-inch water main break that occurred near Alphonse-D.-Roy Street, according to city spokesperson Philippe Sabourin. 'The valves were closed yesterday [Monday], and repairs were scheduled for today [Tuesday] with one lane closed,' he explained. 'Since the closure is not watertight, [the borough] had no choice but to completely close the westbound lanes.' The closure is set to take place between Davidson and Alphonse-D.-Roy streets, with a detour via Sainte-Catherine Street. Montrealers are being asked to avoid the area.

Court grants delay on dismantling homeless encampment in Montreal's east end
A judge has granted another injunction against the dismantling of a homeless encampment on Notre-Dame Street in Montreal's east end. The removal of the tents will not happen before July 10, when lawyers from the Clinique juridique itinérante (CJI), the city, and the provincial transport ministry will be back in Superior Court. The CJI, which represents the people living in the encampment, had argued that an eviction would cause serious harm and shouldn't be done when shelters are overcrowded. The tents are located along Notre-Dame between Pie-IX Boulevard and St-Clément Street in the city's Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough. Meanwhile, lawyers for the City of Montreal and the Ministry of Transport argued in the legal proceedings that the tents raise safety concerns, including the frequent interventions from the police and fire services. The court initially granted an injunction on the eviction on June 18 after the CJI filed an emergency injunction request on June 10. With files from Noovo Info
