Driver's Jeep towed away after being clocked speeding nearly 50km/h over limit: OPP

A provincial police officer patrolling in Loretto over the weekend reportedly nabbed a motorist exceeding the speed limit by nearly 50 kilometres per hour, resulting in an automatic stunt driving charge. Nottawasaga OPP says the officer stopped the Jeep on Northbound County Road 50 on Sunday after clocking it speeding 106 km/h in the posted 60 km/h zone. The offence cost the 58-year-old driver his licence for 30 days and his vehicle, which was towed to an impound yard for 14 days. Any motorist caught speeding 40 km/h or more above the speed limit in an area posted less than 80 km/h receives a stunt driving charge, which can result in six demerit points and fines up to $10,000, if convicted. "Let's all do our part to keep our roads safe—slow down and drive responsibly," the OPP stated.
