Sacrifices of Kargil heroes remembered
Nellore: Political parties, district administration, and educational institutions paid floral tributes to soldiers who sacrificed their lives during the Kargil War, honoring their role in protecting India's sovereignty. The district administration organised the 26th Kargil Vijay Diwas at Tikkana Pranganam, where rich tributes were offered to the martyrs. BJP Nellore unit held a candlelight rally from VRC Center to Gandhi Bomma Center, commemorating the heroes. Vikrama Simhapuri University (VSU) conducted a special event at Kakutur village in Venkatachalam mandal, paying floral homage to the fallen soldiers. At Tikkana Pranganam, district collector O Anand recalled the sacrifices of the martyrs, emphasising the need to foster patriotism among youth for national interest. Reflecting on his childhood during the Kargil War, Anand noted he was eight years old, listening to war-related news. He highlighted that 20 soldiers from Nellore laid down their lives in the conflict. Acknowledging the irreplaceable loss, he assured administrative support for the holistic development of martyrs' families and proposed establishing a 'Martyrs Statue' in the city. Addressing retired soldiers' long-pending land issues, Anand promised swift issuance of possession certificates. Joint collector Kollabathula Karthik and District Soldiers Welfare Officer Harikrishna attended the event.

Promote industrial growth extensively
Nellore: District Collector O Anand has directed the officials to ensure establishment of more industries to generate employment to the unemployed youth in the district. Addressing the District Industries and Export Promotion Committee (DIEPC) meeting, the Collector has disclosed that as many as 1,616 applications against total 1,700 received under Single Desk Portal (SDP) were solved, while 64 applications were rejected, another 64 are kept pending. The Collector said that most of the applications which were kept pending were related to Pollution Control Board (PCB) and Legal Metrology (LM) departments. He ordered that officials should show special attention over pending applications and solve them by discussing the issues with PBC and LM departments. He said that officials should organise awareness programmes about the World Bank supporting programme called 'Ramp' to promote more indistries in the district. The Collector said that as many as 76 units were physically grounded under Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) in the district. On the occasion, the Ceollector reviewed the progress related to the proposed industrial units of Jakson Infra, Utkarsha Alluminimum, Dhathu Nigam Limited and Cribco Green Energy Limited. Joint Collector Kollabathula Karthik, District Industries GM Maruthi Prasad, APIIC JD Sivakumar, Atmakur RDO Pavani and others were present.

Sanitary workers hailed for keeping Nellore city garbage-free
Nellore: District Collector O Anand has lauded that the role of sanitary workers as most crucial in keeping Nellore garbage-free city. As part of ongoing Swachh Andhra Divas (SAD), the Collector has felicitated 25 sanitary workers working in municipalities and panchayats in a special programme organised at SR Sankaran Hall at the Collectorate here on Saturday. Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said that he felt happy on felicitating the sanitary workers as they are rendering remarkable services in the interest of protecting the people's health despite facing severe health hazards. The Collector said that after the declaration of SAD six months ago, the government's sanitary workers in both municipalities and panchayats, were rendering invaluable services by hitting on to the roads right from wee hours. On the occasion, the Collector urged the staff working in municipalities and panchayats to create awareness among people on segregation of dry and wet waste. He said that a toll-free number 1800 425 0017 has been set up at the Collectorate to receive complaints regarding drinking water and sanitation in the municipalities and panchayats in the district and promptly redress them. On this occasion, the Collector also felicitated the representatives of Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) G Chitti Babu, SK Gulam Shafi Ahmadh and Gaddam Satish. Nellore Municipal Commissioner Y O Nandan, District Panchayat Officer Sridhar Reddy and others were present.

People asked to join as partners in P-4 programme
Nellore: District Collector O Anand has called upon the people to join as partners in P-4 programme with an objective to eradicate poverty in the district. The Collector has inaugurated a one-day workshop on.P-4 concept at Tikkana Pranganam on the premises of the Collectorate here on Thursday. Stating that P-4 was a voluntary concept, he said that it would provide an opportunity to the local philanthropists and financially well-settled sections in the society to voluntarily join the programme and ensure its success. He said that in view of propagating the programme, the administration has set up a call center with the number 1800-425-1999 for clarification of doubts over P-4. The Collector urged the officials who participated in the workshop to utilise the opportunity as it is meant to motivate the people towards skill development and various business opportunities. He said that it will be mandatory to receive feedback from the local public representatives and MLAs in the selection of Bangaru Kutumbalu. Voluntary organisations should be involved to ensure success of the P-4 programme. Atmakur RDO Pavani, Planning department in-charge officer Lakshmi Narasimhulu and others were present.

Derive benefit from MNREGS, farm labour told
Nellore: District Collector O Anand has advised the agricultural labourers to utilise the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MNREGS) as such scheme is meant to provide employment to the farm labour. The Collector has inspected the ongoing Canal Silt Removal Works (CSRW) being conducted under MNREGS at Nagula Devi Gunta village of Alluru mandal on Tuesday. On this occasion, the Collector interacted with the farm labour over the problems like delay in payment of wages, facing discrimination related to allocation of works and any other issues. While describing MNREGS as a boon for poor in the villages, the Collector said that farm labour need not worry over daily breadwinning as they would have handful work if they use this scheme in a proper manner. The Collector suggested to the labour who were supposed to attend MNREGS works, to secure Aadhaar Card as it will be mandatory as per the guidelines. Later, the Collector inspected the Divakar Reddy Housing Layout being established in 12 acres of land in the village and enquired about the infrastructure facilities. On the occasion, beneficiaries told the Collector that due to lack of drinking water facility, they did not enter the houses despite the structures completed long ago. Responding to their plea, the Collector ordered the officials to take steps for providing drinking water at once. Subsequently, the Collector made a surprise visit at the BC Welfare hostel in Allur mandal and enquired with the students over the facilities being provided to them and had lunch along with inmates. Kavali RDO Vamsi Krishna, Alluru MRO Lakshmi Narayana, MDO Rajinikanth and others were present.
