Pedestrian critically injured in Dana Point hit-and-run collision
Authorities are searching for a hit-and-run driver that struck a pedestrian and left them critically injured in Dana Point last week. It happened a little after 10 p.m. on Friday, June 27 near La Cresta Drive and Silver Lantern Street, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Department. A photo of the vehicle from surveillance footage at the scene of the crash, according to OCSD. Orange County Sheriff's Department Deputies dispatched to the area arrived and found the victim, an adult man in his 40s. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he is said to be in critical condition. They believe that the suspect was driving a light-colored sedan, possibly silver or beige, at the time of the collision. It is likely to have damage to the rear passenger side, deputies said. "A vehicle was observed near the collision site, and it is believed that the occupant(s) might have additional information about the incident," said OCSD's news release. Search for gunman underway after security guard killed outside of Anaheim bar
Detectives are searching for the gunman who allegedly shot and killed a security guard outside of a bar in Anaheim over the weekend. The shooting happened a little before 1 a.m. in the 8000 block of Katella Avenue, outside of 99 Bottles & Cocktails, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Department. Upon arrival, deputies found the victim, 48-year-old Fountain Valley man Salvador Ramirez, suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. They say that he was working as a security guard at the bar when he was shot. Ramirez was taken to a nearby hospital where he died on Monday night. Investigators were unable to provide much information on the suspect, who they say an adult male who was last seen leaving the area on foot. UPDATE (2:45 p.m.): The Okaloosa County School District has issued a response after a teacher was arrested for allegedly having sexual relations with a student two decades ago. UPDATE: MCPSS reassigns bus driver to different role after bus overturned in February According to OCSD officials, 58-year-old Timothy John Sexton had been placed on administrative leave after the school district's 'receipt of a report via FortifyFL.' District officials said they sent the report to the Florida Department of Children and Families and the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office and, after deputies investigated, Sexton was arrested. School board policy states that pending the outcome of his criminal case, Sexton may be suspended without pay. 'Our teachers are held to the highest standards of professionalism, ethics, and integrity when it comes to the safety and well-being of our students,' said Superintendent Marcus Chambers. 'Despite the significant time that has passed, if the allegations against this employee are substantiated, we will respond swiftly and appropriately. 'This is a zero-tolerance issue.' UPDATE: 2 brothers arrested after deadly Mobile County shooting According to an Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office news release, a tip was reported in March 2025 to Fortify Florida, an app that allows users to report suspicious activity or tips to the appropriate law enforcement agency. 'Through interviews with the victim and witnesses, investigators obtained enough evidence for probable cause,' the release said. Investigators said the relationship began in April 2001 when the victim was 14 and continued until July 2005 when she was 17. The investigation led to the arrest of 58-year-old Timothy John Sexton at his home on Jeff Drive in Crestview. He is charged with sexual battery by a person in a custodial authority and sexual battery with a victim between 12-18 years old. Sexton is a teacher at Crestview High School and a former teacher at Pryor Middle School, the release said. 'There is no expiration date on seeking justice for victims,' OCSO Sheriff Eric Aden said. 'This arrest underscores our unwavering commitment to pursuing the truth, no matter how much time has passed. We are proud of the work done by our investigators and encourage anyone who has been a victim to come forward.' Man, 54, arrested for alleged racist, threatening rant in Orange County
A 54-year-old Orange County man has been arrested in connection with a video that reportedly shows him spewing hateful and racist language at a business where several Hispanic adults can be seen. In the footage, which has racked up nearly 15,000 views on at least one Instagram account, a man, who police say is Lake Forest resident Eric Walter Ramminger, is captured screaming graphic insults and obscenities at a woman who works at the business on May 30. 'In America, we do not like you, okay? We do not like you!' he's seen yelling while violently pounding on the shop's window. The 54-year-old, who appears to be inebriated, is also seen threatening the woman and her customers. 'You think you're safe, but you're not going to be safe for soon,' he says. 'You might get away with this one, but you're going to have a f****** problem.' He goes on to call the woman a 'piece of s***' and an 'a**hole' before saying, 'Listen, I will blast your face off,' while encouraging the woman to come outside, presumably to fight him. Teenage boy, 15, killed, 5 others hurt in parking lot crash during pick up at L.A. school The woman, who looks like she's trying to get Ramminger out the door, dodges one of his swings and swipes back at him, prompting one of the men in the room to stand up, possibly to come to the woman's aid. It's unclear how the situation ended. A man narrating the Instagram video to his followers said that the woman called the police and they took hours to get there, arriving only after 'the danger had ended.' In a news release, officials at the Orange County Sheriff's Department disputed that claim. 'We received a call about a man yelling at a business near Ridge Route and Lake Forest drives at 6:47 p.m. on Friday, May 30,' the release states. 'With the information provided to dispatch, the call was assigned as a low-priority call. The deputies responded to the call and arrived at the business in less than 30 minutes.' Sheriff's officials said that a report was taken and given to investigators, who took Ramminger into custody on Wednesday at around 2:30 p.m. on suspicion of trespassing, assault and battery, criminal threats and charges related to hate crimes. 5 Okaloosa County School District students graduate from Project SEARCH program
OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. (WKRG) — Five Okaloosa County School District students with disabilities graduated from a special program last week, ready to start their new careers. Termite season is among us, Gulf Coast — here's how to get rid of them According to an OCSD news release, the Project SEARCH High School Transition Program celebrated its third consecutive graduation at the Hilton Garden Inn on Okaloosa Island. The program teaches young adults with disabilities the essential job skills and workforce training needed to enter the workforce when they complete the program, the release said. The program is designed for students 18 to 21 years old who have completed their high school credits but have deferred their diploma to participate in Project SEARCH, the release said. 'Project SEARCH fosters career exploration and on-the-job training through a business-led collaboration with community partners,' the release said. 'Project SEARCH is life-changing for these students, offering them the skills and confidence to thrive in the workforce,' OCSD Superintendent Marcus Chambers said. 'The dedication of our educators and community partners reflects our commitment to inclusivity and student success.' This year's class included students from Baker, Crestview, Laurel Hill and Silver Sands high schools. 'It's inspiring to see the profound impact this program has — not just on our students but also on the staff who support them,' Exceptional Student Education Director Kathy Ard said.
