Two Miami favorites were named among the top 10 best pizzerias in the U.S.
Miami may be known for stone crabs and Cubanos, but let's set the record straight: our pizza game is no joke. This month, Miami once again polished its pizza cred when La Leggenda Pizzeria and 'O Munaciello were named among the top 10 pizzerias in the U.S. by the prestigious 50 Top Pizza awards for 2025. Two homegrown joints—La Leggenda Pizzeria and 'O Munaciello—tied for number 10 in the country, giving the Floridian city a major, well-deserved win. While La Leggenda dropped a spot from number nine last year, 'O Munaciello moved up the ranks to make Miami home to one tasty tie. Tucked into the charming stretch of Española Way in Miami Beach, La Leggenda is the passion project of Naples-born pizzaiolo Giovanni Gagliardi. Friends in Italy call him 'La Leggenda' (the legend), and after one bite of his blistered, pillowy Neapolitan pies, you'll understand why. Gagliardi slings dough in a domed, wood-burning oven that looks like it was plucked straight from a back alley in Naples. His Margherita STG is textbook-perfect: imported mozzarella di bufala, bright tomato sauce, fresh basil. It's a no-frills flavor bomb that nails the fundamentals. 'O Munaciello is a Florence-born pizzeria with two Miami outposts—one in MiMo and another on Coral Way. Think candlelit interiors, rustic wood tables and a menu straight from the streets of Tuscany. These guys aren't playing tourist with Italian food—they're keeping it real. The dough? Fermented for 72 hours. The ingredients? Shipped from Italy weekly. 'O Munaciello has been turning heads since it opened, even snagging New Times' Best Upper East Side Restaurant in 2018. Founded in 2017 by Italian food journalists, 50 Top Pizza is one of the most respected guides in the world. Getting on the list is hard. Cracking the top 10? Huge. While New York predictably dominated (including the number 1 spot Una Pizza Napoletana), Miami's double entry shows the tides are turning. The 50 Top Pizza awards will take place in September, and here's hoping Miami makes that list, too.

Pizzerias in Miami and Miami Beach are named among best in the country
An Italian guide just named two Miami-area pizzerias among the best in the country. As part of its 50 Top Pizza USA 2025 rankings, 50 Best Pizza named La Leggenda Pizzeria in Miami Beach and 'O Munaciello, which has locations in the MiMo district and on Coral Way, as two of the best pizzerias in the United States. The restaurants were tied at no. 10 on the list The ranking wasn't exactly a surprise to either restaurant, both of which serve Neapolitan-style pies. Both have made the list before — and both thanked their customers for support. In an Instagram post, La Leggenda owner and chef Giovanni Gagliardi, who was born in Napoli, thanked his team and his wife and business partner as well as his customers for their support. 'It's a huge honor to be recognized among the best pizzerias in the U.S., but for me, it's also a reminder to keep pushing, improving, and embracing every challenge,' he wrote. 'I want to dedicate this award to all of you, our amazing and loyal customers — there are so many of you, and I'm truly grateful.' In addition to being named as one of the top pizzerias, 'O Munaciello, owned by Valentina Borgogni, was also named as the pizzeria with the best fried food in 2025. The restaurant also has a location in Florence, Italy. 'A big thank you to all of you who make us love our work more and more every day!' a post on the restaurant's Instagram said. 'It is thanks to you that we are still first best pizzeria in Florida and this year ranked 10th in the entire United States. Thanks to all our employees and the entire 'O Munaciello family around the world!' Only one other Florida pizzeria made the list: Fabrica Pizza in Tampa, which also serves Neapolitan pies. Not surprisingly New York restaurants dominated the list with 12 pizzerias in the top 50. The city is home to the no. 1 pizzeria, Una Pizza Napoletana from Anthony Mangieri. The restaurant on the Lower East Side was ranked no. 1 in 2022 and 2024.
