'If you challenge me, it will result in your death': Indian man arrested for fighting with co-passenger on US flight

A 21-year-old Indian-origin man, Ishaan Sharma, has been arrested and charged with battery after allegedly assaulting a fellow passenger on a flight from Philadelphia to Miami, authorities said. According to jail records, Sharma is facing a USD 500 bond. Local outlet reported that Sharma allegedly got into a mid-air altercation with another passenger, Keanu Evans, who claimed the fight began without any provocation. What happened? "What I hate is that the video doesn't capture what started the whole thing, you know?" said Evans. "It only captures me defending myself." Evans said, "He was doing some, like, dark laugh like, ha ha ha ha ha. And he was saying things like, you, you puny mortal man, if you challenge me, it will result in your death." Live Events Evans said he then went to use the restroom and told the flight attendants what was going on. The flight attendants told him to push the button for assistance if the argument continues. Evans said he pushed the button, the media report said. Watch video here: — ONLYinDADE (@ONLYinDADE) "He kept threatening me with death," said Evans in the report. "That's what made me get up and press the button above me and I just turned around and I looked at him and I responded to him. A lot was going on, and immediately he just got up and he put his forehead on my forehead like he was challenging me." Evans said the situation quickly escalated and Sharma was "looking at me very angrily and we're looking eye to eye, forehead to forehead, and then he just grabs me by the throat and just starts choking me. At that moment it was, you know, fight or flight responses kick in. I'm in a tight, confined space on an aircraft, and all I can do is just defend myself". "If you see on my face, I've got some scratches from him," said Evans. A video of the brawl quickly went viral on social media. Upon landing on Monday night, Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office deputies took Sharma into custody. Officials noted he had a facial injury that required stitches. The report added that cell phone footage showed Evans and Sharma in the middle of the fight as other passengers urged them to stop. "Let him go," said an unidentified passenger. "Stop, let him go." A flight attendant reportedly also tried to break up the fight, but was unsuccessful. "Sir, you have to sit down," a flight attendant, seen on video, tells the men. Evans told 7News that he was attacked while simply returning to his seat and he did nothing to provoke Sharma. PTI

"Dark Laugh, Saying Things Like...": What Happened Moments Before Indian-Origin Man Attacked Plane Passenger Mid-Air

A 21-year-old Indian-origin man has been arrested in the US after allegedly attacking a fellow passenger during a mid-air brawl on a Frontier Airlines flight. According to the New York Post, the incident occurred on Monday on board a Frontier Flight from Philadelphia to Miami. The accused, identified as Ishaan Sharma, allegedly attacked a fellow passenger "without provocation," following which he was arrested as the plane touched down in Miami. After the mid-air fight, the 21-year-old sustained a black eye along with lacerations on his eyebrow, while the victim suffered minor injuries. According to the Post, Sharma assaulted Keanu Evans for no apparent reason soon after their flight took off from Philadelphia. A video shot on a mobile phone shows the two men engaged in a violent fight as other flyers and a flight attendant attempt to break up the brawl. "Let him go. Stop, let him go," a fellow passenger is heard in the background, while a crew member tells them, "Sir, you have to sit down." "He was doing some, like, dark laugh like, 'Ha ha ha ha ha.' And he was saying things like, 'You puny, mortal man, if you challenge me, it will result in your death,'" Evans recounted. He said that Sharma became irate when he pressed the assistance button and called for help from Frontier staff. Following the fight, Sharma sustained a black eye and a laceration on his left eyebrow. Evans, on the other hand, suffered minor scratches. "It makes me feel bad because I don't want people to get the wrong idea about who I am as a person," the victim said. The 21-year-old was taken into custody at Miami-Dade and is charged with battery, per the outlet. After his arrest, his lawyer reportedly said that Sharma was just meditating on the flight and "silent practice" was seen as a threat by Evans. "My client is from a religion where he was meditating. Unfortunately, the passenger behind him did not like that," the lawyer stated. However, the judge was not convinced. They set Sharma's bond at $500 and issued a stay-away order, barring him from contacting the victim or going near his school or workplace.

Man allegedly tries to drown dog in ocean near Miami Beach, arrest documents say

A man was arrested Friday afternoon for allegedly trying to drown a dog in the ocean near Miami Beach, arrest documents said. Yerko Ivan Mendoza-Patino, 37, is currently facing several charges, including animal cruelty with the intent to injure or kill, providing false identification to law enforcement, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. The arrest According to the arrest documents, Miami Beach Ocean Rescue lifeguards notified Miami Beach Police and Fire Rescue around 3:25 p.m. of a man seen drowning a dog in the area of the 300 block of the beach. Once officers arrived, they saw the man – later identified as Mendoza-Patino – dragging a white pit bull into the ocean, putting the dog's head underwater "several times" as he walked deeper into the water. Several beachgoers reportedly followed Mendoza-Patino into the water, yelling at him to let go of the dog as a large crowd gathered around the area, causing a "breach of peace," the arrest documents said. View this post on Instagram A post shared by ONLY in DADE (@onlyindade) A video shared with the social media account ONLYinDADE showed the crowd on Miami Beach Friday, with some beachgoers even in the water trying to talk to who appears to be Mendoza-Patino to stop the act. "The dog appeared to be struggling and in distress," the arrest documents said. "Lifeguards entered the ocean, caught up to [Mendoza-Patino], and ordered him to release the dog. The defendant refused to release the dog, pulling away and yelling at lifeguards." Eventually, several lifeguards brought Mendoza-Patino to shore while keeping the dog above water. Once ashore, Miami Beach Police officers tried to detain him while safely removing the dog from Mendoza-Patino's control, but he actively resisted officers by tensing up his arms and refusing to release the dog, the arrest documents said. Shortly after, officers were able to detain Mendoza-Patino on the ground and pull the dog away from him. After struggling more with officers, Mendoza-Patino was finally handcuffed and taken to the Miami Beach Police Department before being booked into Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. Meanwhile, officers notified Miami-Dade Animal Services of the dog and the animal was also taken to the police department. At this time, the dog's condition is unknown.
