Ottawa police step up patrols in wake of D.C. shooting A 37-year-old man suspended from driving for four years is facing new charges after being stopped on an Ottawa road. The Ottawa Police Service's Traffic Escort and Enforcement Unit says the driver of a pickup truck was stopped in the area of Knoxdale Road and Woodroffe Avenue. Police say the driver had a criminal suspension for impaired driving since 2021. The driver was charged with driving while suspended and having no insurance, and the vehicle was impounded for 45 days. An Ottawa driver had to call their mother to come pick them up after being caught speeding 51 kilometres over the speed limit in Manotick. The Ottawa Police Service's Traffic Escort and Enforcement Unit charged several drivers for stunt driving over the weekend. Police say a driver was observed going 101 km/h in a 50 km/h zone along McCordick Road on Sunday. 'Turning what should have been a relaxing Sunday afternoon into a significantly more consequential day.'
