Nuvoco gets 952cr Vadraj assets after ED issues NOC

Mumbai: The special court allowed the restitution of attached properties valued at Rs 952 crore of Vadraj Cement (ABG Cement) to a company that acquired it through a resolution plan approved by the National Company Law Tribunal, after the Enforcement Directorate issued a No Objection Certificate (NOC). The ABG group obtained a loan from Infrastructure Leasing & Financial Services Ltd (IL&FS), which IL&FS later declared non-performing. Consequently, in the IL&FS money laundering case in 2020, the ED provisionally attached the Surat plant of Vadraj Cement. Subsequently, Nuvoco Vistas Corporation, a subsidiary of the Nirma Group, purchased the cement firm through the NCLT resolution plan. Nuvoco then approached the court to request the restoration of the cement plant. The ED stated that the ABG group had obtained Rs 952 crore in financial assistance from IL&FS, which was subsequently declared non-performing. The ED attached the immovable properties of Vadraj Cement, including its Surat Cement Plant, and the adjudicating authority confirmed the attachment in 2021. The ED filed a chargesheet with the court related to the issue. Mumbai Cricket Body Breaks Silence On Prithvi Shaw's Request To Leave Ranji Trophy Side

Embattled India batter Prithvi Shaw on Monday ended his ties with home team Mumbai after being granted a No Objection Certificate by the MCA to sign up with a new domestic side for his "growth and development as a cricketer". Shaw has been out of reckoning from the red ball set-up for some time but has played white ball cricket. However, his off-field disciplinary issues have grabbed more air time than his on-field performances. The Mumbai Cricket Association confirmed receiving Shaw's request and has given its approval to it. "The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) would like to inform that cricketer Prithvi Shaw had formally requested a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to represent another state as a professional player in the upcoming domestic season. After due consideration, the MCA has granted the NOC," the MC stated MCA Secretary Abhay Hadap said the body appreciates Shaw's contributions over the years. "Prithvi Shaw has been an exceptional talent and has contributed significantly to Mumbai cricket. We respect his decision and wish him the very best in his future endeavours," he stated. In the letter that Shaw sent to the MCA, the 25-year-old said he was grateful for the time he spent in the Mumbai team, for which he made his debut in 2017, but desires to move on now. "I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) for the valuable opportunities and unwavering support extended to me during my time representing the association. "It has truly been an honor and a privilege to be part of the MCA setup, and I am deeply grateful for the exposure and experience I have gained here," he wrote in the letter. He then went on to state his reasons for the wanting to leave the team. "At this juncture in my career, I have been presented with a promising opportunity to play professional cricket under another State Association, which I believe will further contribute to my growth and development as a cricketer. "In light of this, I kindly request you to issue me a No Objection Certificate (NOC) that will enable me to officially represent the new State Association in the upcoming domestic season," he said. However, the identity of the team that he intends to join next is not yet known. Shaw said his decision has been made after "careful consideration, and with utmost respect for the MCA." "I remain ever grateful to the association for the guidance and platform provided over the years." Shaw, who has played five Tests and six ODIs for India, was dropped from the Mumbai Ranji side last year on grounds of poor fitness and lack of discipline. Having missed the rest of the Ranji Trophy season, Shaw last played for Mumbai in the final of the premier domestic tournament Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy against Madhya Pradesh, which his side won by five wickets. Shaw's fitness levels and discipline were not only severely criticised by administrators over the course of last season, but Shreyas Iyer, who led Mumbai to the title win in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, also seemed trifle unhappy. "He needs to get his work ethics right, and if he does that, the sky is the limit for him," Iyer told reporters in Bengaluru. "We can't babysit anyone, right? Every professional who is playing at this level, they need to know what they should be doing. "And he has also done it in the past; it's not that he hasn't. He has to focus, he has to sit back, (and) put a thinking cap on, and then figure out himself. He will get the answer by himself," he added.

Prithvi Shaw (BCCI Photo) MUMBAI: Mumbai opener Prithvi Shaw wants to quit Mumbai and play for another state as a 'professional.' The 25-year-old wrote to the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) on Monday seeking a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from his parent association. TOI has learnt that Shaw is moving to Mumbai's neighbouring team, Maharashtra. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! 'He has sought an NOC from us today. We have now established a protocol for this, as per which we will first inform our apex council members and then take a decision. He should get the NOC by the evening,' MCA secretary Abhay Hadap told TOI. Shaw was dropped by the Mumbai senior selection committee last year from the Ranji Trophy due to poor fitness and was prescribed a two-week fitness programme prepared by the MCA trainers. Unhappy with his attitude towards fitness and practice, the team management had informed the MCA that Prithvi Shaw's body contains 35 percent fat and that he needed rigorous training before he could stage a comeback to the Mumbai side. It is learnt that Shaw had offers from a few states since last season, and after playing in the MCA's T20 Mumbai League earlier this month, he finally decided to move to Maharashtra. Shaw made a comeback in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy last year but was dropped for the Hazare Trophy last season. Peeved after being dropped from the Mumbai Ranji team last season, Shaw had posted his List A record on social media at the time. 'Tell me God, what more do I have to see... if 65 innings, 3399 runs at an average of 55.7 with a strike rate of 126, I'm not good enough… but I will keep my faith in you and hopefully people believe in me still… cause I will come back for sure... Om Sai Ram.' Jasprit Bumrah press conference: Lashes out at critics, dropped catches and no balls In recent years, Shaw turned out for Northamptonshire county and did fairly well for them in the Metro Bank One-Day tournament. After Mumbai won the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, beating Madhya Pradesh in Bengaluru last year, Mumbai captain Shreyas Iyer had made a pertinent comment on Shaw. 'We can't babysit anyone, right? He has played so much cricket. Everyone has given him inputs. At the end of the day, it's his job to figure out things for himself. And he has also done it in the past. It's not that he hasn't. He has to focus. He has to sit back, put a thinking cap on. He will get the answer by himself. No one can force him to do anything,' Shreyas had said. Shaw suffered another big setback in his career when he didn't find any buyers in the IPL 2024 auction in October last year in Jeddah. Game On Season 1 kicks off with Sakshi Malik's inspiring story. Doctors are not slaves: Himachal high court

'The public interest in retaining manpower cannot override the individual's right to professional advancement,' ruled Himachal Pradesh high court (HC), while directing state government to issue a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to a doctor for pursuing a super specialty course. Disposing of petition filed by Dr Pankaj Sharma, who challenged the rejection of his request for an NOC to pursue a DNB SS Medical Oncology course under the All India Quota, justice Sandeep Sharma quoted order of division bench from another petition: 'Doctors are not slaves and cannot be compelled to serve against their wishes if they are willing to forfeit bond money.' Advocate general Anup Rattan had argued that the state was facing an acute shortage of medical officers and could not afford to relieve specialists. Unimpressed by the submission, the court said: 'No doubt, this court cannot lose sight of the fact that there is a shortage of doctors in the state but that cannot be sole ground to stop progression of individual who, after his PG course, wants to do super specialty, that too at his own expense.' 'Needless to say, once bond money is deposited, person concerned cannot be compelled to work against his wishes,' read the HC order. Dr Sharma, currently posted as senior resident at Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru Government Medical College, Chamba, had completed his post-graduate degree in radiotherapy and was selected for a super specialty seat at Paras Hospital, Punjab. However, his application for NOC was denied by the director of health services on May 26 on the ground that he had not completed the mandatory one-year field posting after PG. Setting aside the order denying him NOC, the court directed the state to issue the NOC subject to his depositing ₹40 lakh as bond amount within a week and submitting a written undertaking that he would return to serve the state for five years after completing his course.
