Sabrina Carpenter's Biggest Song Misses No. 1 Again As It Returns
Sabrina Carpenter's 'Espresso' climbs to No. 2 on both the Official Vinyl Singles and Physical ... More Singles charts in the U.K., missing No. 1 again. NEW YORK, NEW YORK - MAY 05: Sabrina Carpenter attends the 2025 Met Gala Celebrating "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style" at Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 05, 2025 in New York City. (Photo by) After Sabrina Carpenter released her single "Espresso" in April 2024, it didn't take long for the song to become a global hit. In the United Kingdom, the tune proved to be a breakout smash for the rising star, quickly soaring to No. 1 on multiple tallies during its initial heyday. "Espresso" became a champion on several rankings, and the excitement surrounding Carpenter and her discography has only grown, thanks in part to her ongoing Short N' Sweet Tour. Despite its success, "Espresso" once again fails to claim the No. 1 spot on a handful of rankings as it soars on multiple charts in the U.K. "Espresso" Returns to the Official Vinyl Singles Chart This week, "Espresso" reappears on the Official Vinyl Singles chart, where it is forced to settle for the runner-up spot. The tally is currently dominated by "Don't Cry for Me Argentina," performed by Rachel Zegler, the star of the current revival of Evita on the West End. The track, originally composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber – who is credited as an artist on the recording – blocks Carpenter from reaching the top. "Espresso" launched at No. 2 on the Official Vinyl Singles ranking back in June 2024. In the year and a half it has spent on the tally, Carpenter's cut has collected 17 appearances inside the top 10, but it has never managed to rise to the summit. "Don't Cry for Me Argentina" Leads Several Charts Carpenter also misses out on sending "Espresso" to No. 1 on the Official Physical Singles chart for the first time, as that list is likewise led by "Don't Cry for Me Argentina." Unlike on the vinyl ranking, however, "Espresso" doesn't return, because it was already present last frame, down at No. 45. This time around, it rockets more than 40 places to No. 2, a slot it has now owned five times. "Espresso" Surges Across Multiple Charts "Espresso" breaks back onto three of the six U.K.-based charts it appears on this week. In addition to the vinyl tally, the global smash reenters the Official Singles Sales ranking at No. 12 and the Official Singles Downloads list at No. 82. The tune climbs to No. 46 on the main ranking of the 100 most-consumed songs in the country at the same time. It drops slightly on the streaming roster, but still maintains a spot inside the top 40. Multiple Sabrina Carpenter Hits Return to the U.K. Charts "Espresso" is one of six singles by Carpenter that currently appear on the U.K. charts. Several of those return to at least one tally, including "Juno," "Please Please Please," and "Nonsense,' as all of them have become bestselling hits once again.

ABBA Nearly Charts A Brand New No. 1 Hit
ABBA earns four new top 10s on the Official Vinyl Singles chart, led by 'So Long' at No. 2 after the ... More band reissued several smashes on collectible vinyl. (Photo by Siegfried Pilz/United Archives via Getty Images) ABBA has long been known as a singles act, with many of the group's tunes proving far more popular decades after their release than the band's traditional albums. Throughout the years the Swedish musicians were together, they produced dozens of popular cuts, some of which remain among the most successful in pop music history. Multiple ABBA tracks reappear on the charts in the United Kingdom this week after the group reissued them on vinyl. The superstars almost claim a new No. 1 as a decades-old composition surges on the charts. ABBA Misses No. 1 By One Space ABBA scores four new top 10 hits on the Official Vinyl Singles chart this week, and remarkably, the group's titles appear one after another in a hugely successful streak. The band nearly secures a new leader, but just misses the throne as "So Long" opens at No. 2. The Official Vinyl Singles tally is led instead by Biffy Clyro, whose "A Little Love" launches at No. 1. Three Additional New Top 10 Hits As "So Long" starts in the runner-up space, three other ABBA cuts follow closely behind in the next trio of positions. "Mamma Mia," "SOS," and "I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do" debut at Nos. 3, 4, and 5, respectively this week. ABBA's Dozens of Top 10 Smashes ABBA has now snagged an impressive 33 top 10 hits on the Official Vinyl Singles tally. That roundup includes six No. 1 smashes, including iconic releases like "Waterloo," "Ring Ring," "Lay All Your Love on Me," and the more recent release "I Still Have Faith in You," all of which have spent at least one frame at the summit. ABBA's Vinyl Reissues After ABBA issued "Mamma Mia," "So Long," "SOS," and "I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do" on collectible vinyl, those tracks also manage to debut inside the top 10 on the Official Physical Singles chart, though they rank in slightly different positions than on the vinyl list. Each composition also becomes an immediate top 40 bestseller on the all-format, all-genre Official Singles Sales tally. On that roster, "Mamma Mia" was the top performer, as it enters at No. 22. "I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do" followed at No. 32, with "So Long" and "SOS" sandwiched between the two.

John Lennon Sends Multiple Singles Back To The Charts, Joining The Beatles
While The Beatles can almost always be found on at least one or two charts in the United Kingdom, the same can't be said for the group's individual members, though the four musicians — Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, George Harrison, and John Lennon — do manage to return from time to time. McCartney and Starr sometimes score new wins with brand new material, while Harrison and Lennon bounce back thanks to catalogs filled with successful albums and beloved singles. Lennon returns this time around with a pair of tracks as he blasts back onto multiple rankings in his home nation. This week in the U.K., Lennon's biggest hit is 'Power to the People.' The track is credited to John and Yoko as a duo, with their last names left off. Also featured is the Plastic Ono Band, as 'Power to the People' is a collaborative affair. That tune reenters a pair of rosters across the Atlantic. It blasts back onto the Official Vinyl Singles chart at No. 24, while simultaneously reappearing on the Official Physical Singles list at No. 27. At the same time, Lennon's solo cut 'Mind Games' also finds space once more on the Official Physical Singles chart. This time around, it appears at No. 78. 'Mind Games' and 'Power to the People' have experienced similar trajectories on these tallies. Both tunes have not yet reached double-digit frames on either ranking, and the two have peaked inside the top 10, but never reached No. 1. The Beatles are also doing well on the U.K. charts at the moment, but there's only a limited amount of crossover between the group's success and Lennon's, as the band and its member only share one tally this frame. The rock troupe doubles up on the Official Albums chart, as the compilation 1962–1966 joins a climbing 1967–1970. The band fills two spots on the Official Physical Singles list, as 'From Us to You' and 'I Want to Hold Your Hand' reenter that ranking at Nos. 53 and 74, respectively.

The Beatles Bring Several Beloved Singles Back To The Charts
The Beatles' 'I Want to Hold Your Hand' and "Now and Then" both become bestsellers again in the ... More U.K., as the two singles return to sales charts this week. (Original Caption) The Beatles are shown at a press conference at the Warwick Hotel. Standing left to right are: Ringo Starr, (wearing polka dot shirt), Paul McCartney, John Lennon, and George Harrison. These days, when it comes to sales and streaming charts, The Beatles are more successful with albums. That's common among legacy acts, as fans tend to focus their attention on the full-lengths that originally propelled the musical icons to superstardom, as well as compilations that assemble their most familiar singles. The Fab Four regularly appears on multiple album rankings in the United Kingdom, where the rock legends remain most popular. While the focus is usually on albums, interest in several Beatles cuts grew last week. The band manages to push a number of tunes back onto different lists, scoring multiple bestsellers long after most music fron the rockers was released. The Beatles currently appear inside the top 40 on two separate sales rankings in the U.K. One of the group's oldest tunes, 'I Want to Hold Your Hand,' is a true bestseller once again. The track reenters the Official Vinyl Singles chart at No. 23. It lands just one spot lower, at No. 24, on the Official Physical Singles chart, which includes not only vinyl purchases, but also CDs and cassettes. On that roster, The Beatles don't merely bounce back — they soar from second-to-last place (No. 99) into the top 40. The band fills a pair of spaces on the Official Physical Singles chart this frame. 'I Want to Hold Your Hand' jumps more than 70 positions, while 'Now and Then' returns at No. 56. That comeback tune, marketed as the final release by The Beatles, was completed with the help of artificial intelligence and dropped in late 2023. 'Now and Then' was a quick No. 1 on seemingly every ranking it touched, including the Official Physical Singles chart. 'I Want to Hold Your Hand,' however, has never managed to conquer either of the tallies on which it appears. It has come close, peaking at No. 2 in the several months it has been present on these rosters — which didn't exist when The Beatles first shared the song more than half a century ago.

Chappell Roan's Track Record Is Perfect On One Chart — And That's Where She Returns
Chappell Roan's successes just keep coming. The pop singer and newly-crowned Grammy winner became a household name more than a year ago, as her first full-length and the singles featured on it – as well as one particularly important standalone release – began dominating streaming platforms just like many of today's young stars. But Roan has proven she's not just another viral sensation. She's also become a powerhouse when it comes to selling physical music, particularly on vinyl – a format many of her peers rarely impact. She scores several vinyl bestsellers in the United Kingdom this week as multiple smashes return to the same list. Roan is back inside the top 10 on the Official Vinyl Singles chart in the U.K., the list that tracks the bestselling individual songs on wax in the nation. This frame, she brings both "Pink Pony Club" and "Good Luck, Babe!" back to the uppermost tier. Neither cut appeared anywhere on the tally last week, but now they return at Nos. 8 and 10, respectively. Roan has only sent two songs to the Official Vinyl Singles chart so far — and both have hit No. 1 at some point. For the moment, her record on the list remains flawless. Between the two, "Good Luck, Babe!" is the longer-running success, as it's now spent 31 frames somewhere on the ranking. "Pink Pony Club" has managed about half as many appearances, with this latest frame marking its fourteenth on the roster. Both "Pink Pony Club" and "Good Luck, Babe!" are charting across six different tallies each in the U.K. right now. Of the two, "Pink Pony Club" is the bigger winner at the moment, as it is currently living inside the top 10 on every single one of those rankings. Most impressively, it holds at No. 2 on the Official Singles chart — the most important overall songs roster in the country. "Good Luck, Babe!" continues to impress as well, remaining inside the top 40 after more than a year of activity on that same list. Roan's success isn't limited to singles. Her only full-length, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, also makes a triumphant return this week to one roster. The set reappears at No. 40 on the Official Vinyl Albums chart, becoming a bestseller once again after previously peaking at No. 1.
