Blue Moon Trailer: Ethan Hawke & Margaret Qualley Star in Period Drama
Sony Pictures Classics has shared the official Blue Moon trailer for its upcoming biographical period drama. Following its world premiere at the 2025 Berlin International Film Festival last February, the movie is now slated to arrive in NY and LA theaters on October 17. This will be followed by its nationwide release on October 24. 'On the evening of March 31, 1943, legendary lyricist Lorenz Hart confronts his shattered self-confidence in Sardi's bar as his former collaborator Richard Rodgers celebrates the opening night of his ground-breaking hit musical Oklahoma!' reads the movie's official synopsis. 'By the time this night is over, Hart will have confronted both a world that no longer values his talent and the seeming impossibility of love.' The video introduces its main cast including Academy Award nominee Ethan Hawke as he transforms into legendary lyricist Lorenz Hart. The Broadway icon was best known for co-writing multiple famous songs, including 'Blue Moon,' 'The Lady Is a Tramp,' and 'My Funny Valentine.' Beside Hawke, the trailer also features Andrew Scott as Richard Rodgers and Margaret Qualley as Elizabeth Weiland. For his supporting performance, Scott won a Silver Bear award at the Berlin International Film Festival. Blue Moon is directed by Richard Linklater from a screenplay written by Robert Kaplow. Joining Hawke, Scott, and Qualley are Bobby Cannavale as Eddie, Simon Delaney as Oscar Hammerstein II, Cillian Sullivan as Stephen Sondheim, Patrick Kennedy as E. B. White, John Doran as Weegee, and more. It is produced by Linklater, Mike Blizzard, and John Sloss. The creative team also includes director of photography Shane F. Kelly, editor Sandra Adair, and composer Graham Reynolds. File Photo by Rune Hellestad/UPI | License Photo July 29 (UPI) -- Sony Pictures Classics released a trailer for Blue Moon, starring Ethan Hawke as legendary Broadway lyricist Lorenz Hart as he faces the potential end of his career. The trailer, released Tuesday, stars Hawke as Hart during the March 31, 1943, premiere of the Broadway musical Oklahoma!, which marked the beginning of his former partner Richard Rodgers' long string of successful collaborations with Oscar Hammerstein. The film, which also stars Margaret Qualley, Bobby Cannavale and Andrew Scott, deals with Hart confronting "his shattered self-confidence in Sardi's bar," the official synopsis reads. "They should put my picture on that bottle," Hawke says in the trailer. "The whiskey that made Lorenz Hart unemployable." The film, directed by Richard Linklater from a script by Robert Kaplow, opens in theaters Oct. 17 in New York and Los Angeles, with a nationwide release to follow Oct. 24.

‘Blue Moon' Trailer: Ethan Hawke Plays Songwriter Lorenz Hart In Ninth Film With Richard Linklater
Sony Pictures Classics has debuted the first trailer for Blue Moon, its songwriter drama marking the ninth collaboration between filmmaker Richard Linklater and actor Ethan Hawke, which is slated to hit theaters in Los Angeles and New York on October 17, before expanding nationwide on October 24. Written by Robert Kaplow, author of the novel Me and Orson Welles — which inspired the Linklater film of the same name — Blue Moon profiles the final days of Lorenz Hart (Hawke), part of the hit songwriting team Rodgers & Hart. The film is set primarily in Sardi's Restaurant on March 31, 1943, the opening night of Oklahoma!, which marked Rodgers' first collaboration with Oscar Hammerstein II as Hart's replacement. The film is a Detour/Renovo production in association with Wild Atlantic Pictures, Under The Influence and Cinetic Media. Musical Series Based on Cinderella's Godparents in the Works at Disney+ With Jennifer Lopez Producing — GeekTyrant
A musical limited series based on Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella has landed at Disney+, from Skydance Television, Concord Originals and Nuyorican. The project is in development, and it's reported that the story is from the perspective of the fairy godparents. The series is being written by Rachel Shukert, who is attached as EP and showrunner. The UTA repped Shukert is an EP on Hulu's Nine Perfect Strangers , as well as an EP on the streamer's Handmaid's Tale , and the showrunner of Netflix's The Baby-Sitters Club . In addition to Shukert, Jennifer Lopez, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas and Benny Medina for Nuyorican Productions; Sophia Dilley, EVP of Concord Originals and Co-President of RKO, and former Concord CEO, Scott Pascucci; and Bill Bost will also executive produce. Skydance Television has a pact with Concord to develop a slate of original projects on the latter's vast catalog of musicals which includes Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella, and a modern-day adaptation of Oklahoma! from John Lee Hancock and Bekah Brunstetter. Cinderella is one of Rodgers & Hammerstein's most popular titles. It was originally written for television, debuting in 1957 with Julie Andrews in the lead. The TV movie was nominated for an Emmy Award for her performance. More than 100 million viewers saw the broadcast. Cinderella was re-made for TV in 1965 starring Lesley Ann Warren in the title role with Ginger Rogers and Walter Pidgeon as the King and Queen, and Celeste Holm as the Fairy Godmother. A further television remake followed in 1997 with Brandy as Cinderella, Whitney Houston as the Fairy Godmother, Bernadette Peters as the Stepmother, Whoopi Goldberg as the Queen, and Jason Alexander as Lionel. via: Deadline

Baton Rouge daycare shut down temporarily due to early morning fire
BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A Baton Rouge daycare is temporarily closed following an early morning fire on Thursday, June 5. According to the St. George Fire Department, crews responded around 12:15 a.m. to Smartee Pants Preschool Academy and Daycare, where they found a fire burning outside the structure. Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames, and no injuries were reported. Utilities to the building were shut off, and the daycare will remain closed until those services are restored and the extent of the damage is fully assessed. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
