SIT Arrests School Mgmt Chief, Detains Teacher in Shalarth ID Scam
Nagpur: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the multi-crore Shalarth ID scam arrested Omkar Anjikar, 46, president of a school management body, for his alleged role in facilitating the fraudulent recruitment of a woman teacher.
The teacher, whose identity is yet to be disclosed, was also detained for questioning, with sources confirming her imminent arrest.
The SIT uncovered discrepancies in her documents, which enabled her to obtain a Shalarth ID and siphon off govt funds through undeserved salary and benefits. Anjikar is accused of enabling the teacher's recruitment by approving fake credentials, allowing her to exploit the Shalarth system, designed to streamline teacher payments.
The scam, involving crores of rupees, has exposed systemic vulnerabilities in the education sector's hiring processes.
The SIT investigation revealed a network of individuals manipulating documents to secure govt benefits fraudulently. Sources indicate the woman teacher is under intense scrutiny, with the SIT gathering evidence of her complicity.
