Texas Receives Exciting News on Commit Dia Bell

Texas Receives Exciting News on Commit Dia Bell originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Texas Longhorns have three five-star commits from the 2026 class via On3 Sports, but none may be more important than quarterback Dia Bell. The Longhorns also have commitments from five-star linebacker Tyler Atkinson and five-star edge rusher Richard Wesley. ESPN's Billy Tucker ranked the top recruits regardless of class on Thursday and had Bell at No. 5. Bell is the No. 4 overall recruit and top quarterback in the 2026 class via the On3 Industry Rankings. He recently had a dominant performance at the Elite 11 Finals in Los Angeles, California, alongside other top quarterback recruits in the class. The quarterback prospect has been committed to the Longhorns since June of last year and is a native of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He attends American Heritage High School and comes in at 6-foot-2.5, 220 pounds. Texas boasts a top-10 class for the 2026 cycle on On3 Sports, which is not surprising considering the high-quality talent it has attracted. The Longhorns recently earned a commitment from four-star cornerback Samari Matthews. However, there are some prospects that Texas has missed. The Longhorns were not able to add to their class with the commitment of four-star athlete Jalen Lott, who instead pledged to the Oregon Ducks. Before Bell arrives in Austin, the Longhorns begin the Arch Manning era at quarterback. Manning played in 10 games last season with two starts, leading his team to wins over UL Monroe and the Mississippi State Bulldogs. It is safe to say that the future is bright at Texas, especially at the quarterback story was originally reported by Athlon Sports on Jul 17, 2025, where it first appeared.

College football cash kings: Texas A&M ranks among nation's top spenders this season

NEW: Top 10 Biggest Spenders in College Football this season💰(Survey via @PeteNakos_) In a recent survey compiled by On3 Sports, Texas A&M ranks as one of the top spenders in college football this season. Becoming financially sound is an integral part of garnering national attention from recruits and translating that to success on the gridiron in this era of collegiate athletics. According to Pete Nakos, second-year head coach Mike Elko and the Aggies are tied with Miami as the fifth-biggest spenders in the country this season. Texas is the only team in the Southeastern Conference ranked above Texas A&M, as the Longhorns rank at No. 1 on Nakos' survey. While the sport, and college athletics as a whole, have become more focused on a school's economic situation, the transfer portal has increased dramatically and recruits are hanging their hats on where they can benefit the most from NIL (Name, image and likeness) compensation. Here is the full list of the top-spending programs in college football, provided by Nakos and On3 Sports on Tuesday morning: After hiring head coach Mike Elko on Nov. 27, 2023, Texas A&M recorded its first eight-win season since 2021. The Aggies finished Elko's first campaign in Bryan-College Station, Texas, with an 8-5 overall record, which included a loss to USC in the Las Vegas Bowl to cap off the year. If the program wants to reach the next level, it will require a financial investment in prospects who will help mold the future of the program through their performances on the gridiron. The last time the Aggies achieved a 10-win season was in 2012, when quarterback Johnny Manziel was shredding defenses every Saturday. Can Texas A&M become one of the top programs in the country? The short answer is that they absolutely can. Athletic director Trev Alberts seems to be invested in adapting to the ever-changing landscape of college football, as he continues to praise the way that Elko and company handle the shift on the recruiting trail. "I've had a chance to listen to all of what they're selling. Again, it's genuine. It's real. It's not just football," Alberts said. "It's the total person development. That kind of stuff matters to moms and dads and grandparents and other people. So, again, I just think Mike (Elko) has worked really, really hard at it. I'm excited about the future of our football program." Following a full summer of recruiting that still has yet to officially end, the program has secured the No. 4 recruiting class for 2026. With one five-star and 18 four-star prospects already committed to gear up in the Maroon and White uniform next fall, the Aggies' class has received an impressive 92.377 score via On3 Sports. Bringing top-ranked talent to Aggieland can only increase Texas A&M's chances of setting the program up for success. With Elko continuing to help rebuild the infrastructure from the ground up, the next few years of wise NIL spending and recruiting in College Station could help boost the Aggies to new heights. Hugh Freeze Explains Auburn's Approach to Recruiting After Recent Struggles

Hugh Freeze Explains Auburn's Approach to Recruiting After Recent Struggles originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Auburn Tigers' 2026 recruiting class ranked No. 8 overall on On3 Sports at one time. Advertisement That has changed drastically, as Auburn's class now ranks 71st and is dead last among the SEC. On a recent edition of "See Ball Get Ball with David Pollack," Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze offered insight into the program's recruiting tactics. Freeze stated that the program is trying to play the long game when it comes to recruiting and stressed that Auburn was operating within the rules of the new house settlement. The $2.8 billion antitrust settlement was approved in June and allows for colleges to pay student-athletes directly. Auburn Tigers head coach Hugh Freeze with Ole Miss Rebels head coach Lane Kiffin. Jake Crandall / USA TODAY NETWORK "I think it's a long game play for us that I think is gonna work out in our favor, because we're doing it very transparent in the way we believe the settlement is written to operate, if that makes any sense," Freeze said. Advertisement Auburn's 2026 class is led by four-star edge rusher Hezekiah Harris, four-star athlete Peyton Falzone and three-star linebacker Adam Balogoun-Ali. Recently, the Tigers have lost the likes of Shadarius Toodle to the Georgia Bulldogs, Devin Carter to the Florida State Seminoles and Denairius Gray to the Kentucky Wildcats. Linebacker JaMichael Garrett, who was also once an Auburn commit, reopened his recruitment this offseason. Auburn's recent recruiting struggles are rare under Freeze. Since he took over in 2023, he has had top 10 classes in the 2024 and 2025 cycles. However, the results still have yet to come for Freeze, who enters 2025 with an 11-14 record and one bowl game appearance. The Tigers open the 2025 season with the Baylor Bears on August 29. Kickoff is at 8 p.m. ET on Fox. Related: Hugh Freeze Breaks Silence on Backlash for his Golfing This story was originally reported by Athlon Sports on Jul 12, 2025, where it first appeared.

Georgia Predicted to Deal Recruiting Blow to Struggling SEC Program

Georgia Predicted to Deal Recruiting Blow to Struggling SEC Program originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Auburn Tigers and Georgia Bulldogs are on two different trajectories entering 2025. For starters, Auburn has not competed for a national title since 2013, when the Tigers lost to the Florida State Seminoles 34-31. Georgia's last national title was in 2022 after beating the TCU Horned Frogs 65-7. Advertisement Things got worse for Auburn on Wednesday, as it was predicted to lose the race for four-star safety Tyriq Green to Georgia. On3 Sports' Steve Wiltfong, Chad Simmons, Adam Gorney and Sam Spiegelman all had the Bulldogs landing Green. Georgia has the advantage already with Green, as he is a native of Buford, Georgia. Auburn Tigers head coach Hugh Freeze and Georgia Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart. Joshua L. Jones / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images Green is the No. 13 safety in the On3 Industry Rankings for the 2026 class. The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine also heavily favors the Bulldogs. Georgia is the frontrunner, with a 93.5% chance to land the prospect. Auburn is in second at 2.5%, followed by the Miami Hurricanes at 1.3%. Advertisement If Kirby Smart does earn a commitment from Green, it would not be the first time Georgia has hurt Auburn in recruiting. The Bulldogs already flipped longtime Auburn commit Shadarius Toodle in June. Georgia is not the only SEC team to steal a commit from Auburn, either. The Kentucky Wildcats flipped four-star receiver Denairius Gray from the Tigers on July 1. Auburn's 2026 class currently ranks 71st on On3 Sports and is highlighted by four-star edge rusher Hezekiah Harris, four-star athlete Peyton Falzone and three-star linebacker Adam Balougun-Ali. The Tigers face the Baylor Bears in their season opener on August 29. Kickoff is at 8 p.m. ET on Fox. Texas A&M football's 2026 prospects rank as one of nation's top recruiting classes

After landing another massive commitment from four-star EDGE Bryce Perry-Wright, Texas A&M's 2026 class ranks No. 3, according to On3 Sports/Rivals Team Recruiting Rankings. Head coach Mike Elko has been busy this summer on the recruiting trail, landing commitments from five-star cornerback Brandon Arrington and 19 total four-star prospects. The 2026 Aggie prospects also rank as the second-best class in the Southeastern Conference behind the Georgia Bulldogs. Perry-Wright's announcement on Saturday, July 5, helped boost the Aggies' recruiting rankings among most media outlets. June was an outstanding month, with numerous top-rated recruits, including Arrington, running back KJ Edwards, EDGE Tristen Givens, IOL Samuel Roseborough, and many more, committing to Texas A&M. The month of July looks to be more of the same, with many more talented prospects placing College Station as one of their top destinations. If Elko keeps this momentum going, Aggieland could soon become where the No. 1 recruiting class for 2026 resides. The last time that the program landed the top-ranked recruiting class was in 2022 under former head coach Jimbo Fisher. Elko's outstanding job at making genuine connections is a massive reason why the program is flourishing in recruiting. His style of play on the field brings excitement and opportunity for players to make their mark in the Maroon and White, but his ability to be personable with the student-athletes is just as important. One of the most integral factors in Edwards' decision to commit to Texas A&M was Elko and company presenting him with the ultimate hospitality, as they surprised one of the nation's top running backs with family members during his official visit in June. "So when we came down this weekend, it was originally supposed to be me, mom, dad, my sister, my younger brother and my auntie," Edwards said. "Once we got out there, coach Trooper and coach Elko surprised us with my grandparents. They had reached out to them, and we didn't know anything about it, so when we saw them, we were surprised." It doesn't get much better than that. The way that Elko recruits has earned him national recognition as one of the top recruiters in the country this offseason, as he continues to raise the bar for Texas A&M moving forward. June was an incredible month for the Aggies and July is shaping up to be even bigger.
