Simple Minds, Bellahouston Park, Glasgow **** Back in their mid-Eighties pomp, Simple Minds were among a coterie of bands who modernised the tradition of the stadium show, with the beefy soundtrack to match. Four decades on, they braved the rain to perform their first outdoor gig in their native city since their legendary Ibrox shows of 1986, true events at a time when Glasgow was not so blessed with open-air extravaganzas. With his usual galvanising charm, frontman Jim Kerr claimed that, despite growing up on the southside of Glasgow, he and guitarist Charlie Burchill had never visited Bellahouston Park before now. Back in their adolescence, they couldn't afford the bus fare; now, he deadpanned, they have their bus passes. However, the main body of the set was to be given over to a celebration of their 1985 hit album Once Upon A Time, which caught the band at their commercial, if not creative peak. Album tracks Oh Jungleland, Come A Long Way and Wish You Were Here were scattered through the set, not quite landing with the potency of the big anthems nor the curated cuts from the rest of the catalogue such as the eternal Glittering Prize and atmospheric instrumental Theme from Great Cities. However, drummer Cherisse Osei made almost every song sound like the big finish, while soulful powerhouse co-vocalist Sarah Brown shone on All The Things She Said and Sanctify Yourself. Kerr encouraged the audience to milk those 'la-la-las' on non-album single Don't You (Forget About Me) before dialling down the volume and upping the Celtic mysticism for Belfast Child.

Don't like talking about this sh***. "But having a tough time just now. Lost my brother six months ago. Holding it together. "But dropped my kids off this morning and played 'someone you loved' and hit differently. Then burst into tears. Celebrity News "I didn't know I needed it. Maybe I did. X" The emotional and heartfelt post comes weeks after Sean announced his brother's death on his own account. Sean became a pop star after leaving EastEnders, scoring eight top 30 hits including Good Day which peaked at number 12 in the UK. And he joined the cast of Scott & Bailey in 2012. Sean swapped grey Britain for sunny California in 2000 and became a US citizen just in time to vote in the presidential election. His career has gone from strength to strength in the States. He played the lead role in 300 parody Meet The Spartans, starred alongside comedy Krod Mandoon, and took over the part of Robin Hood in ABC's Once Upon A Time. In addition to acting, he also teaches aspiring thespians through his business The Players Conservatory. Former in Glasgow in 1977, Simple Minds went on to become one of the biggest bands in the world thanks to a string of hit songs and albums. Don't You (Forget About Me) topped the US charts after appearing in the film The Breakfast Club, with the band having 24 top 40 singles (to date) in the UK, including the likes of Promised You a Miracle, Glittering Prize, Waterfront, Alive and Kicking and Belfast Child. Brad Pitt says The Adventures of Cliff Booth will be ‘an episode' instead of sequel to OUATIH
Brad Pitt has revealed The Adventures of Cliff Booth is 'an episode' instead of a sequel to Once Upon A Time In Hollywood. The F1 star, 61, is set to return as the titular stuntman from Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon A Time In Hollywood in the David Fincher-directed picture, and Pitt has now shared The Adventures of Cliff Booth is not so much of a direct sequel to the 2019 flick as it is an extension of the character's story. Speaking with Deadline, he said: 'This is something Quentin Tarantino wrote. It's an episode, not really a sequel, of the character from Once Upon A Time. '[Tarantino] didn't want to direct it at this point, so our friend David Fincher stepped in to direct it.' Pitt added The Adventures of Cliff Booth was set to enter principal photography next month. He teased: 'So, we're doing it with Netflix, we're going to start in July … should be really fun.' Recently, it was revealed Carla Gugino, Yahya Abdul Mateen II, Elizabeth Debicki and Scott Caan were attached to The Adventures of Cliff Booth, though it is unclear who they will be playing. The Adventures of Cliff Booth is said to feature two key female roles, 'one who runs a bar and mud wrestling establishment and one a trophy wife', but it has not been confirmed whether Debicki will play one of these characters or an entirely new part. The Adventures of Cliff Booth will be a reunion for Pitt and Caan, who previously worked together on the Ocean's series. It has also not been confirmed whether Leonardo DiCaprio would be returning as Rick Dalton for The Adventures of Cliff Booth. In Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, fading actor Rick Dalton (DiCaprio) and his loyal stunt double Cliff Booth (Pitt) struggle to stay relevant in a rapidly changing movie industry. As their fortunes shift, they cross paths with rising star Sharon Tate (Margot Robbie) and the looming threat of the Manson Family. Tarantino is believed to retain the rights to the characters from Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, while Sony - which financed and distributed the picture - holds the rights to the movie itself. As a result, The Adventures of Cliff Booth is not considered a sequel or prequel, despite featuring Pitt's character. Considering Fincher is directing instead of Tarantino, The Adventures of Cliff Booth will not count as the Pulp Fiction filmmaker's 10th and final project. The director was due to work with Pitt - who had also appeared in Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds in 2009 - on The Movie Critic, though the filmmaker dropped the project in April 2024. According to Deadline, Tarantino had 'simply changed his mind' after delaying production to rewrite the script. Now, he's expected to go back to the drawing board in a bid to find a firm idea for what will be his final film.
