Blue's Anthony Costa reveals how band have dramatically changed their ways

EXCLUSIVE: Blue are set to celebrate 25 years in the business with a summer packed full of gigs and festivals - but life on the road isn't quite the late-night blur it used to be Boyband life may have once been all backstage antics and wild nights out, but Blue's Anthony Costa says the upcoming tour is looking a lot more grown up these days — and that's exactly how he likes it. With a whopping 25 years (yes, really!) in the business next year, the band are celebrating with a summer packed full of gigs, festivals, and a sold-out jaunt to Italy. ‌ 'It will be 25 years next year and that's crazy,' Anthony tells us. 'I mean things are really great. We're writing in the studio again. There's a lot of excitement things happening, but we're so lucky to be to be doing it after all these years on and off.' ‌ He adds: 'The whole of this summer, we've got festivals, gigs booked and we're going to Italy next week and we've put a couple of sold out shows there. We can't complain, you know.' ‌ And while the crowds are just as big and the bangers just as nostalgic, life on the road isn't quite the late-night blur it used to be. 'Things have changed… just a bit! When we were younger after every gig we went OUT! But we just can't do it anymore,' he laughs. 'We haven't done it for ages, but, you know, we're in our 40s and it's just like, I can't think of anything worse than waking up, even with a hangover, headache and no voice.' Now it's all about staying healthy — and responsible. 'We're in the gym all the time and keeping fit and trying to keep healthier and everything else. But yeah, a lot changed but it's changed for the better. And the thing is we've all got kids now. We've all got families and we just want to work and be grafting and pay our bills and pay our way in life.' ‌ And it's that family life that gives Anthony the most joy these days — especially when his daughters get to see their dad doing his thing on stage. 'It's my favourite. My girls love to come and watch but they love hanging out backstage best,' he beams. 'They came the other week to see us in Chelmsford… they loved it. They loved the backstage the most.' 'They like getting their passes and their access all areas passes… they can go to school the next day and tell their friends. My girls love the fact that, you know, their dad and his mates get up on stage and sing All Rise and One Love. They love the VIP experience." ‌ "You know, I never had that growing up, so to be able to say to my kids look this is where your dad works — as a dad all you want is to give your kids the best in life.' The singer is a proud father to two daughters, including Savannah, whom he shares with his fiancée Rosanna Jasmin. Over the years, Anthony's spoken candidly about how fatherhood changed his life, describing his girls as his greatest joy and motivation. While he occasionally gives fans glimpses into his family life on social media, he's always been protective of their privacy — opting to share sweet moments without putting them fully in the spotlight. ‌ Whether he would encourage them into showbiz? "Listen, it's up to them. It's up to them what they want to do I' support them," he says. "They want to become a doctor or a scientist or a lawyer or travel agent, or whatever they don't good luck to them, I'll always support them. If they want to go into to showbiz, where, I just said, theatre or music, I'll always support them, but I'll always say, look, you know, if it's not as easy as you think, so, yeah. 100%, yeah." "I feel really blessed right now to still be doing what I'm doing in mid 40s. Life is very good right now." Antony Costa is currently starring as Nikos in Mamma Mia! The Party at London's O2 until 4 September 2025. Book tickets at

Explained: Why the rainbow armband is dividing opinions at Women's Euro 2025

The rainbow armband at Women's Euro 2025 is sparking debate, with some teams proudly wearing it to support LGBTQ+ rights while others opt for UEFA's 'Respect' armband, citing broader inclusion. The controversy echoes similar debates from the 2022 Qatar World Cup. read more The rainbow armband, which is meant to show support for LGBTQ+ rights and diversity, is creating mixed reactions at the ongoing Women's Euro 2025 in Switzerland. It is dividing opinions among players and fans despite being a symbol of inclusion. Some captains like Switzerland's Lia Walti, Norway's Ada Hegerberg, England's Leah Williamson, and Wales' Angharad James have proudly worn the rainbow armband. Even England defender Lucy Bronze added a rainbow wristband during their quarterfinal win against Sweden. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Also Read: Why is rainbow armband dividing opinions? But not everyone is wearing it. Spain's Irene Paredes chose not to wear the colourful band, and France's captain Griedge Mbock Bathy wore a plain armband with the word 'Respect' instead. UEFA has given teams a choice between the rainbow armband and the 'Respect' version. France explained their decision, saying the rainbow armband focuses too much on just one issue, whereas the Respect band is of wider range. 'Highlighting a single issue also potentially excludes the others. We cannot champion a single cause through our diverse group because there are so many causes to defend,' Mbock said. More from Football 'Our team is so diverse that we cannot highlight just one cause. I think that the armband with the word 'respect' really represents what we want to convey as a message and that is the most important thing,' she added. Out of 16 teams in the tournament, nine have worn the rainbow armband. 'Standard yellow and blue armbands are provided to all teams and rainbow armbands are available upon request,' UEFA told Associated Press. This means that the teams who chose to wear the rainbow armband made an intentional decision. Also Read: This debate is not new. A similar controversy happened during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where FIFA banned the rainbow 'One Love' armband. German players famously covered their mouths in the team photo after their first match to protest the ban, saying they were being silenced. FIFA banned the armband because same sex relationships are not legal in Qatar. Qatari fans later responded with their own protest by holding pictures of Mesut Ozil, referencing racism he faced in Germany. Germany was a big supporter of rainbow armbands but later some voices, like coach Julian Nagelsmann, asked for fewer political statements in football because they distract from the game.

Germany captain Gwinn to wear rainbow armband at women's Euros

Germany's Giulia Gwinn speaks during the team's press conference ahead of Friday's UEFA Women's Euro 2025 soccer match against Poland. Sebastian Christoph Gollnow/dpa Germany captain Giulia Gwinn will wear a rainbow coloured armband at their women's Euro 2025 matches. The rainbow flag mainly used by the LGBTQI+ community is a symbol for diversity and against discrimination. Advertisement Germany got approval from the ruling body UEFA to use the armband. UEFA also provides yellow and blue armbands with the word "Respect." "It is nice for us that it has been made possible. And it wasn't a question of changing the armband," Gwinn told reporters on Tuesday at Germany's base camp in Zurich. The Euros start on Wednesday, with Germany's first match on Friday against Poland. The final is on July 27. Germany's women used the rainbow armband at the last Euros in 2022 as well, while the men's World Cup in Qatar later that year saw world governing body FIFA outlaw a "One Love" armband Germany and other teams had planned to use. Advertisement Gwinn said that "our team stands for so many things. And we want to spread exactly those values. And of course it is nice we can do it on this stage." Gwinn was interim captain since last year when Alexandra Popp stepped down and the role was made official this year. She has been wearing the rainbow armband in most matches. The defender said being skipper at a big tournament for the first time was "a huge honour. "I started playing and loving football as a young girl. To be captain now ahead of a big tournament is hard to put into words," Gwinn said.

In an ode to her cheerful and happy demeanour, the song One Love by Bob Marley and The Wailers played out over the speakers as the procession into the church began. Originally from Carlow, she married her husband James in 2018 before starting a family in Bree with their two sons Jacob and Adam. A number of symbols representing her life were brought up to the altar, including a family photograph, books, her son's toys, flowers, and a handbag as she had a great love for fashion and style. Her brother Jonathon took to the altar to speak about the huge impact his sister had on their lives and everyone she met. "These words are from my heart, which I have struggled to get out over the last few days. Firstly I would like to thank James, her husband for always taking care of her – not only during her illness but over the years they have spent together. He has been a saint.' "I would like to thank Tanya for being in our life; Tanya was a gift. Anyone who knew her was blessed to know her. She was the kindest most loving person, who always put the needs of other above her own. She was also a very creative person – she was writing a children's book and hoped to get it published and she was a passionate teacher. Her students remember her as a great and fun teacher who have support,' he continued. He highlighted that her husband and her sons were her life and that she loved them beyond what words could express, before advocating for people to hold their loved ones closer while they could. "Tanya was our heart, she was the kindest and most fun sister a brother could have. To be honest, I don't know how to live in a world without her. The only thing I can say is, cherish the special people in your life and tell them you love them every chance you get. Our time is short.' Next up to speak was James' brother, who extended thanks on behalf of the family to the various people who gave their support, including the hospitals, the palliative nurses, the schools, and counsellors from the Hope Cancer Support Centre. To truly show the legacy she left on her students, having taught in Loreto Secondary School in Wexford and CBS Tramore, he read out a letter on behalf of one of her former students. She was always full of compliments and when she passed one onto you, you felt like you were beyond brilliant. She made you feel important. I can't understate how nice she was, such a comforting presence. She listened, and she stood up for us in situations where we were silenced. It meant a lot,' he read out. "Mrs. Whelan could have rivalled life itself with her enthusiasm. She may not be here anymore, but these stories she's shared and her compassion will live on. May the world show her family all the kindness she's shown to my classmates and I.' Loved ones also took to to leave messages of condolences and messages detailed her role in the lives of her students and co-workers. One mourner wrote: 'My heart goes out to the O'Brien and Whelan families, especially Tanya's two little boys. I worked with Tanya in Tramore. She was a lovely girl, full of creativity, ideas and enthusiasm. It is terribly unfair to lose someone so young.' Another wrote: 'I had Ms Whelan a number of times throughout my time in Loreto, she was truly an incredibly bright person not just the way she teaches but in her spirt. Joe Jonas On Dating After Sophie Turner Divorce

Of course, you know Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner split back in 2023. They finalized their divorce last fall. The split was, at times, quite public — and since it's been finalized, the pair have wasted no time going their separate ways. Sophie dated British aristocrat Peregrine Pearson for about a year and a half; as of last month, there were rumors that their relationship was on thin ice, so we'll see. As for Joe, his brief relationship with model Stormi Bree came to a close last spring. So, Joe's got a new album out, Music for People Who Believe in Love. (I would've workshopped that title a bit more, but that's just me.) According to a recent interview he gave to TalkShopLive, one of the songs on the record, "One Love," was apparently inspired by a recent dating experience. 'I was seeing somebody at the time, and I was kind of having this idea of dating again," Joe said. "It was really scary and intimidating. Love takes different shapes and forms, and I was rediscovering what that was.' 'And this person kinda comically, sarcastically was like, 'It's only love.'" 'And I was like, 'OK, it's a big deal to me,'" he continued. "And a big deal to them, too. But it's OK to take a leap of faith and just try again and just put yourself out there.' There you have it. Maybe we'll find out who, exactly, he was talking about one day, but I doubt it.
