Toning up party from booth level our mission: TG BJP chief
Hyderabad: Bharatiya Janata Party Telangana unit president N Ramchander Rao, who assumed charge on Saturday, sought to galvanize the party unit by declaring: 'The mission ahead is to strengthen the party from the booth level and make its organizational structure stronger with the sole objective of bringing the party to power in Telangana.' Suiting action to his word, Rao addressed the media after visiting the house of the president of the polling booth no:97, Amarnath, in Lalapet on Sunday. He reiterated the words of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah that the party should win at booth level to register its win at the Assembly and Parliament levels and then said, 'BJP is an ideological and cadre-based party and cadre are the roots for the tree of the BJP… When the roots are stronger, the tree will be strong.' The former MLC said that he visited the booth level president to partake of tea and participated in a plantation programme to send the message that he, along with the state party leadership, will be standing behind the party cadre. 'Apart from coming from humble backgrounds, the cadre has made immense sacrifices for the party's progress. Together, the cadre and party leadership would work hard to bring the BJP to power in Telangana in the next state Assembly elections,' he asserted. Later, paying rich tributes to the party ideologue and Jana Sangh founder Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee on his birth anniversary at the state party headquarters, he said that all BJP leaders and cadre drew their inspiration from Mukherjee who had fought many battles at a young age and bravely took up the issue of integrating Jammu and Kashmir with India. 'He has gone down in history as a leader who fought to ensure that there should not be two Prime Ministers, two flags, and two constitutions in the country.' Though Shyama Prasad Mukherjee's death was shrouded in suspicious circumstances, his life had become a symbol of sacrifice and an epitome of courage. It was with the Mukherjees' inspiration that the Modi government abrogated Article 370, and the party and the nation paid tributes to the Mukherjees' sacrifice to unite J&K with India, he said. Further, he stressed, emulating the same spirit, the party is working on the principles of 'One Nation-One Law,' 'One Nation-One Ration Card,' and 'One Nation-One Election,' and every activist of the party should carry this spirit to work for the unity and integrity of the country, he said. Union Minister, G Kishan Reddy, BJP MP and OBC Morcha national president Dr K Laxman, and other senior party leaders joined Ramachandra Rao in paying tributes to Mukherjee on his birth anniversary.

Country needs ‘One Nation-One Election' for national interest: UM Shivraj Singh Chouhan
Hyderabad: Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan stated that it is high time for the nation to consider the concept of 'one nation, one election.' He emphasised that the frequent elections lead to policy paralysis, adversely affecting development and wasting national resources. Speaking virtually at a 'One Nation, One Election' seminar organised by the Telangana BJP, attended by professionals on Sunday, he noted that over Rs four lakh crore is spent on conducting Lok Sabha and State Assembly elections, with the costs continuing to rise. He highlighted that the country has experienced multiple elections for both assemblies and the Lok Sabha within intervals of about four months. Once an election is announced, he explained, the entire political leadership, along with the administrative machinery—including doctors—become involved. The extended engagement of those in governance in the election process negatively impacts decision-making and policy formulation, hindering progress toward the 'Vikasit Bharat' agenda to transform India into a developed nation. Chouhan pointed out the benefits of having simultaneous elections, highlighting that it could save resources and ensure uninterrupted development for society and the nation. He mentioned that when the model code of conduct comes into effect, all government activities come to a standstill. Conducting simultaneous elections for the Lok Sabha and State Assemblies, as was done in the past, would allow the entire governance system to focus on development and addressing the issues faced by the people. He urged tough decisions and amendments to the Constitution to implement the 'one nation, one election' process, calling on professionals from various fields to consider this idea and convey its importance to the public. 'The BJP, as a political party, would benefit from multiple elections. However, the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP is 'Nation First' and 'Party Next,' prioritising national interests above party interests,' he affirmed. Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy remarked, 'We have completed 76 years of independence and are still adopting the policies of the British.' He noted that when PM Modi emphasised the need for laws to align with contemporary political and economic conditions for the nation's benefit, some changes had been made. Unfortunately, he expressed concern about attempts to obstruct these changes. Kishan Reddy stressed the importance of intellectuals, analysts, and professionals applying pressure on political parties to realise 'one nation, one election.' He recalled that it was the persistence under Modi's leadership that led to several significant reforms, including the GST, abrogation of Article 370, and the Triple Talaq legislation. Other participants included party national general secretary Sunil Bansal, One Nation - One Election National Coordinator Anil K Antony, and One Nation - One Election State Coordinator N Ramchander Rao. Earlier, Shivraj Singh Chouhan and other leaders paid tribute to the armed forces for successfully carrying out Operation Sindoor.

One Nation-One Election meets held across 500 places in TG: BJP
Hyderabad: Former MLC N. Ramachandra Rao stated that as part of a nationwide awareness campaign on 'One Nation-One Election,' approximately 500 meetings have been organised across Telangana, with more planned in the future. Addressing the media on Saturday, he explained that the awareness programs aim to gain support from the public. Prominent figures from various fields, including politicians, lawyers, doctors, and engineers, are participating in this initiative. 'To date, about 500 meetings and group discussions have been organised throughout the state, and these events are continuing successfully at the district level,' he added. Union Ministers Shivraj Singh Chouhan and G Kishan Reddy, BJP National General Secretary Sunil Bansal, Anil K. Antony and the national in-charge of the One Nation-One Election program will participate in a professionals' meeting here on Sunday. The BJP senior leader emphasised that the concept of One Nation-One Election is not new; from 1952 to 1967, Lok Sabha and Assembly elections were held simultaneously in India. However, they argue that the Congress party misused the office of the Governor, leading to the cancellation of elections, which undermined the Constitution. As a result, elections are now held in some states every two to three months, causing development to come to a complete standstill due to the imposition of the moral code of conduct. According to the Ram Nath Kovind Committee report, it was suggested that local body elections should also be completed within 100 days, allowing the remaining four years to focus on development programs. Once elections are concluded, it is essential to put politics aside and prioritise development, he said. Ramachandra Rao expressed concern over security arrangements at Gandhi Bhavan in Telangana state, stating that it was unusual to set up security in front of the state BJP office. He urged Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to keep his party workers in check and not engage in conspiracies to attack the BJP office. 'We are warning the Congress party to change its course now,' he said.

'One Nation, One Election' could potentially boost India's GDP by 1.5 percent : Anurag Thakur
Srinagar, Apr 22 (UNI) Former Union Minister and BJP leader Anurag Thakur on Tuesday strongly advocated for the implementation of One Nation, One Election (ONOE), citing its benefits in reducing election-related expenses and streamlining governance. He also reiterated the BJP's commitment to restoring statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, while dismissing concerns over rising militancy in the Jammu region. Thakur pointed out that five months before the last Lok Sabha election, assembly polls were held in four states—Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Telangana. Soon after the general elections, states like Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir also went to polls, he said. 'The frequent polls affects governance and costs the country immensely,' the former Union Minister told reporters in Srinagar on the sidelines of a function which was held by BJP to create awareness on 'One Nation-One Election'. BJP has started another mass contact programme for making citizens aware of the 'advantages' of the ONOE concept across the states. Thakur argued that simultaneous elections would not only reduce the financial burden—estimated at over Rs 1.5 lakh crore —but also increase voter turnout and allow government officials to focus on their primary responsibilities. He claimed the ONOE policy could potentially boost India's GDP by 1.5% and improve administrative efficiency. 'If implemented by 2029, all elections could be held together. In case a government falls mid-term, fresh elections would only be held for the remainder of the term, maintaining synchronization,' the BJP leader explained. The Minister also dismissed opposition concerns, asserting that ONOE doesn't infringe on democratic rights but aims to streamline governance. 'The idea is not new,' he added, citing that India conducted joint polls until 1967, and the concept has been backed by previous Law Commission and parliamentary reports. The former Union Minister mentioned that a high-level committee led by former President Ram Nath Kovind has consulted stakeholders including former judges, election commissioners, and political parties to prepare a report on the feasibility of the move. Responding to a question on Jammu and Kashmir's statehood, Thakur reaffirmed, 'We have promised statehood and it will remain.' He brushed aside criticisms that the BJP had failed to control militancy in the Jammu region. '…Compared to earlier, Kashmir is witnessing peace. Security forces have taken strong action against terrorist elements in Jammu. There is zero tolerance for terrorism,' Anurag asserted. Thakur also dismissed allegations that the BJP is creating pressure on political opponents or minorities, claiming instead that the party has worked for all sections of society. He accused the Congress of spreading misinformation and defaming India internationally. UNI MJR CS

"One Nation, One Election Bill is transformative, visionary, historic": BJP leader Anurag Thakur
Bharatiya Janata Party leader Anurag Thakur on Tuesday termed the proposed 'One Nation, One Election' Bill "transformative, visionary, historic," and said that the Bill will be in the national interest and will benefit the country. "The 'One Nation, One Election' Bill is transformative, visionary and historic. PM Modi's government believes in reform, performance and change. If the country is developing at such a rapid pace today, it is largely due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi 's initiatives and the efforts of his government. 'One Nation-One Election' is also in the same direction. If the assembly and Lok Sabha elections are held simultaneously in the country, time will be saved, money will be saved, and the code of conduct will be in force for a shorter period. Lakhs and crores of rupees of the country will be saved," Anurag Thakur told reporters in Srinagar. "This is not the first time. There was a 'One Nation, One Election' from 1952 to 1967, but Congress repeatedly toppled governments or they fell for other reasons, so the elections became isolated... If there is 'One Nation, One Election', it will be in the national interest and it will benefit the country," he added. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Free P2,000 GCash eGift UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now Undo Earlier today, Chairman of the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) on 'One Nation, One Election' PP Chaudhary said that the JPC all-state visit on 'One Nation, One Election' will begin from Maharashtra on May 17, followed by Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Chandigarh and Punjab.
