‘90s country star's teeth fall out on stage: ‘The show must go on'

1990s country music icon LeAnn Rimes decided to get real with her fans about an experience she found hugely embarrassing. 'OK, so we're going to do a little story time about how the show must go on,' Rimes begins in a TikTok video posted this week. The 42-year-old star, who got started in country music at just the age of 13, reminded fans that she has had multiple dental surgeries and that she has a bridge in the front. 'Last night I was on stage in the middle of 'One Way Ticket' when something popped in my mouth,' she said of a show she was performing in Bow, Washington, at Skagit Valley Casino and Resort. 'And it fell out in the middle of my song last night.' The 'How Do I Live' singer said her first reaction was to panic. She ran to the side of the stage and popped the bridge back into her mouth. 'I just had to get real with everybody and tell them exactly what was happening or else I would have had to walk off stage.' For the rest of the show, she said she was pushing her teeth back in every few lines, and she said she never before realized how many 'ff,' 'th' and 'sh' sounds are in her music before. 'That was the most epic experience ever. I don't usually have firsts in my career,' she said. 'That was a first and hopefully a last.' Rimes is an international multi-platinum selling singer, who has sold nearly 50 million albums and won two Grammy Awards — one of which she won at the age of 14 — and more than a dozen other awards. Rimes said she hoped that others would draw strength from her story and understand that the show can go on, even in the face of 'sheer, utter embarrassment.' 'And you know what, just like I said, there wasn't a (expletive) thing I could do about it, except either walk off or just hold my teeth in. So I just ran with it.' Leann Rimes details ‘embarrassment' after her teeth fell out during performance

There's a first time for everything — but Leann Rimes hopes this first is more of a last. In a video posted to her Instagram, the 42-year-old Grammy-winning singer told her fans a story about the 'most epic experience ever,' which saw her musical talent put to the test live on stage. It all went down during a recent performance at Skagit Valley Casino & Resort in Bow, Washington. 'Last night, I was on stage in the middle of 'One Way Ticket.' I feel something pop in my mouth,' Rimes admitted in the June 21 video. What Rimes really needed at the time was a one-way ticket to the dentist. 'If you've been around, you know I've had a lot of dental surgeries, and I have a bridge in the front and it fell out in the middle of my song last night,' she continued. Rimes performed in front of the Skagit Valley crowd on June 20 and 21, according to her website. But instead of stopping her show, Rimes was living proof that the show must go on. 'I panicked and in the middle (of the song) said, 'Hold on,' and ran to the side of the stage and popped it back in and then just went on singing' she explained in the video. For the rest of the show, Rimes said she had to constantly push her front teeth back into place. She later confessed to the crowd about what happened. 'I had to get real with everybody and tell them exactly what was happening or else I would have had to walk off stage,' she added. Rimes further described it as 'the most epic example of the show must go on.' 'I don't have a lot of firsts in my career. That was a first and hopefully a last,' she joked. Elsewhere in the confession, Rimes said that she learned something about herself amid the panic. The 'Committed' singer went on to admit that she never knew how many difficult sounds she makes when she sings — especially the types of sounds that require front teeth to create. She singled out her song 'Can't Fight the Moonlight' as one that was particularly hard to sing, adding that her teeth 'completely fell out of her mouth' a second time while performing it. Rimes later joked that she hoped her teeth would stay in place when she returned to the venue the following night. 'If you catch them, return them,' she joked of her teeth. Rimes then used her mishap as a reminder for other artists who experience something similar. 'In case anybody has an issue on stage ever and feels embarrassed by it, just watch this video again and it'll remind you that the show can go on even in the midst of sheer utter embarrassment,' she explained. 'You just gotta be real with people. It's all good,' she added.

LeAnn Rimes' Teeth Fall Out Mid-Performance During Washington Concert

LeAnn Rimes is laughing through the pain after an unexpected onstage dental mishap. The country-pop star abruptly left the stage mid-performance at a recent show in Washington when her front dental bridge unexpectedly fell out. The incident occurred while Rimes was singing her 1996 hit 'One Way Ticket' at The Skagit Casino Resort, prompting the visibly flustered singer to rush offstage to address the situation. 'And if you've been around, you know I've had a lot of dental surgeries and I have a bridge in the front, and it fell out in the middle of my song last night.' Rather than cancel the show, the 42-year-old performer made a swift recovery, rejoining her band onstage and finishing the set while discreetly attempting to push her bridge back into place between lines. 'I literally was like this, pushing my teeth in,' she said, demonstrating the gesture. ''Can't Fight the Moonlight,' the teeth completely fell in my mouth.' Despite the unexpected interruption, Rimes took the moment in stride, calling it 'the most epic experience ever.' 'There wasn't a f—ing thing I could do about it except either walk off or just hold my teeth in and sing, so I just ran with it,' she said. 'The show can go on, even in the midst of sheer, utter embarrassment. You just gotta be real with people.' Rimes, who has long been open about her dental struggles, including a history of botched dental work that has required 29 surgeries, previously filed a malpractice lawsuit in 2013 against her former dentist, citing chronic pain and complications from failed veneers. In her Instagram update, she jokingly warned the front row of that evening's second show at the same venue to be on alert: 'If you catch them, please return them.' As of now, Rimes says her teeth are 'in for now,' adding that the whole ordeal was an unforgettable reminder that anything can happen live, and the only option is to power through with humor and honesty.
