A 23-year-old Ontario man has been arrested after being caught driving nearly 40 kilometres over the speed limit and having drugs in his vehicle.
According to RCMP, officers were patrolling Highway 17 in the RM of Fisher last Thursday when they saw a vehicle travelling 139 km/h in a 100 km/h zone. A traffic stop took place.
The vehicle was searched and roughly 160 grams of cocaine and crack cocaine, along with drug paraphernalia, was found hidden inside a speaker in the vehicle.
The driver, from Bowmanville, was arrested on a charge of possession for the purpose of trafficking. He was also issued a $561 fine for speeding and had his licence suspended after he provided a sample that tested positive for both cannabis and cocaine. He was released with a pending court date, RCMP said.
None of the charges have been proven in court.
