Tyla thrills fans at Open'er Festival and hints at new music era
Tyla has confirmed that new music is on the way and possibly sooner than fans expected. During her vibrant set on the Orange Main Stage at Poland's Open'er Festival, the 23-year-old South African star took a moment between songs to hint at what's next. 'You all need to catch up because there's some new music coming very soon,' she said, introducing Breathe Me, which she described as her favourite track from her debut album Tyla, released last year. She also shared a heartfelt message ahead of Priorities, telling the crowd, 'This is basically just about prioritising yourself… and it's something that I've been doing for a while now. I'm reminding my Tigers to do that every day, no matter what.' Despite technical difficulties that affected her stage setup, including being unable to descend from a platform and having to run backstage to re-join her dancers, Tyla kept the energy high and the audience engaged. 'I know I'm supposed to be professional,' she joked, 'but the number of technical difficulties I'm having… we're still having fun.' Her performance marked a long-awaited return after she was forced to cancel her 2024 appearance at the festival due to injury. Grateful for the moment, she told the crowd, 'I was very low today - my energy, my vibes. But I feel really good being here in Poland.' Tyla's dynamic set, which included both male and female dancers, was met with a warm reception from fans, who she lovingly calls her 'Tigers'. Sharing the line-up with acts like J. Balvin, Lola Young, and headliners Nine Inch Nails, Tyla stood out as a rising global force ready to take her music to the next level.

Tyla teases new music is coming as she performs at Open'er Festival
Tyla will release new music "very soon". The 23-year-old singer released her eponymous debut album last year and a new single, Bliss, in May and she's teased fans won't have to wait too long for more fresh material. Speaking on the Orange Main Stage at Open'er Festival in Poland on Thursday (03.07.25), she introduced Breathe Me and said: "The next song is my favourite song from my debut album. Have you listened to my album? "You all need to catch up because there's some new music coming very soon. "This song is actually my favourite so I want to see light, hugging, kissing, getting touchy, let's go." Tyla urged her fans - who she affectionately calls her Tigers - to take the time to look after themselves and take care of their own needs first. Speaking ahead of Priorities, she told the audience: "This is basically just about prioritising yourself. You know, it's very important. "And it's something that I've been doing for a while now. And yeah, the song is Mushy just about there and me reminding my tigers to do that every day no matter what. It's very important." The Water hitmaker bemoaned the technical issues she experienced during her set, which saw her accompanied by both male and female dancers, including one incidence where she was unable to get down from a raised platform as planned and was forced to use steps at the back of the staging, running around to re-join the choreography. She said: "I know I'm supposed to be professional but you guys, the amount of technical difficulties In having. "But we're still having fun." Tyla - who was photographed by Denys Didkovskyi during her set - had been supposed to perform at Open'er last year but pulled out for health reasons so she was delighted to finally make it to the festival to a rapturous reception. She said: "You guys are giving me so much energy but I'm loving it. "Today I was very low guys. My energy, my vibes. "But I just feel really good being here in Poland. I was supposed to perform here last year and I couldn't because of my injury and everything. So I'm glad that God brought me here today." Other artists who performed at Open'er on Thursday included Lola Young, J. Balvin and headliners Nine Inch Nails.

'I find toxic people to just be so addictive...' Raye speaks about her weakness at Open'er Festival in Poland
Raye finds "toxic" people "addictive". The 27-year-old singer noted there are many types of addiction in the world, which she believes is part of the "human experience", and she is particularly drawn to individuals she knows are not good for her but she just can't seem to resist. Speaking on the Orange Main Stage stage at Open'er Festival in Poland on Wednesday night (02.07.25) as she introduced her song Mary Jane, she said: "I believe addictions are part of the human experience. "You can be addicted to a lot of things in life. You, you could be addicted to exercise - which is not me, but I'm very happy for those of you who decided to be addicted to exercise. "You could be addicted to chocolate, cheese. "Or you could be addicted to a human being. I find the toxic people to just be so addictive. You know, when you just can't tell that person 'No'. "And then you have illegal addictions, no judgement, this is a safe space and for me, too. "But I think, it's deemed unattractive as a woman to talk about this kind of addiction." Raye famously had a turbulent start to her career, leaving her record label Polydor after the company allegedly refused to release her debut album for several years, but she relishes being an "independent artist" now, making the music she always wanted to. Raye - who made history at the 2024 BRIT Awards, winning in six accolades, including British Artist of the Year - told the crowd: "I'm an independent artist. "Now, I was telling my driver actually on the way up. I was giving it my whole backstory, come on, and I was telling him I was an independent artist, and he asked if I like being independent and I was like, yes I do. "I had a bit of a tough time early on in my career as a record label for seven years. And during that time, I was releasing a lot of music but it was fast, fast pop, like music created to sell. And that's not the reason I wanted to be a singer. It's not the reason I wanted to be a musician in a songwriter, I think art is about honesty." Other artists who performed on the first day of Open'er Festival included Jorja Smith, Schoolboy Q and the night's headliners, Massive Attack. Performers in the coming days include Nine Inch Nails, Muse, Wolf Alice and Linkin Park.

Raye gets emotional as she sings 'hardest song' she's ever written at Open'er Festival
Raye wiped away tears after performing Ice Cream Man at the Open'er Festival because it is "the hardest song [she's] ever written". The 27-year-old singer reflected on the healing power of music as she performed a rendition of the song, which details the impact of being sexually assaulted, something which Raye has experienced in her life. Introducing the track as she performed on the Orange Main Stage at the music event in Poland on Wednesday night (02.07.25), she said: "This next song that I would like to sing for you is the saddest song that I've ever written, the hardest song I've ever written. "But at the same time, this song is medicine for me. Music is medicine. "I started writing this song when I was 17 years old. "I've been through some really gut-wrenching stuff and the subject of this song is sexual assault and rape and sexual violence, which I know are really disgusting words and really intense and I'm sorry for taking it there." Raye hopes the track offers comfort to others who have endured the same experiences as she has. She continued: "But then when I read the statistic that one in four women and men will be affected by this in their lifetime, it's just heart-breaking. "So I know when I sing this song, as hard, as it is to sing and as horrible, it is to sing. Sometimes I know I'm not alone in understanding, just what a song like this can be for those of us, who, who need it." After a powerful performance of Ice Cream Man, Raye wiped away tears with a towel before continuing with her set. The British singer-songwriter also treated the audience in Gdynia to a new track called I Know You're Hurting, an emotional balled she admitted often left her "sobbing in the toilet". She said: "This is a song that means a lot to me. It's a new song, it's an unreleased song and this song has purely been my medicine. "I'm not gonna lie, you know I'd be flying all the time. I'll be taking flights like this song has me like going to the bathroom in the toilet and on the plane and just like sobbing. This this song is so important to me and um, I'm really excited to sing it for you right now." The song addresses the contrast between the "highlights reel" people show online and the emotional reality of their lives. She added: "The subject of this song how I think in life, you know, we put up this mask, or we post on our Instagrams acting like life is amazing and everything's great. And we show the highlights reel, you know, and I think that's not the reality of life and I think a lot of us are hurting. "I'm just excited to see this song to you. And if there is anyone out there in this crowd today, we've come to feel some sort of musical medicine. Maybe, that's all of us, you know? Then this one is definitely for you." Other artists who performed on the first day of Open'er festival included Jorja Smith, Gracie Abrams and headliners Massive Attack.
