List of Contents: Azuki to Kouri (Yoyogi-Uehara) Ginza Ginger (Ginza) Oribe (Shimokitazawa) Asakusa Naniwaya (Asakusa) Magie du Chocolat (Jiyugaoka) Wa Kitchen Kanna (Sangenjaya) Yelo (Roppongi) Sabo Okuno Shibuya (Shibuya) Related Posts View this post on Instagram A post shared by あずきとこおり (@azukitokouri) Azuki to Kouri (Yoyogi-Uehara) Tucked away in a stylish street in Yoyogi-Uehara, Azuki to Kouri (literally 'red bean and ice') opened in January 2022, headed by Miho Horio, a former pastry chef at a French restaurant. The shop's signature azuki and meringue shaved ice is a fusion of crisp meringue, velvety mochi sauce and cooked azuki beans. Seasonal highlights rotate roughly every two weeks, with past creations like the strawberry and meringue kakigori and passion fruit creme chiboust kakigori showcasing Horio's French techniques and Japanese sensibilities. Beyond shaved ice, the shop, which is completely cashless, also offers handmade azuki-studded brioches, seasonal soups and a tea menu. Address: 1F Grand Duo Yoyogi, 1-46-2 Yoyogi, Shibuya ward, Tokyo View this post on Instagram A post shared by 銀座のジンジャー (@ginza_ginger_official) Ginza Ginger (Ginza) If you're a fan of the tangy taste of ginger, then Ginza Ginger is for you. This specialty shop crafts colorful syrups and confitures from ginger, yuzu citrus, strawberry, lemon and more, each with a warming kick. Its flagship Namiki-dori location offers kakigori made with its signature milk ginger syrup, layered with seasonal toppings like ginger-infused foam or slow-cooked confiture. Summer specials this year include a lemon-scented Okinawa pineapple and kiwi tropical yogurt kakigori — though you'll have to check out Ginger Ginza's Instagram to find out when each flavor is on offer. The shop has also had exclusive deals for Instagram followers in the past, including a retro-style melon cream soda kakigori and a first flush matcha and muscovado milk kakigori — another good reason to check Ginza Ginger out online. Address: 1F and 2F Quartier Blanc Ginza, 1-4-3 Ginza, Chuo ward, Tokyo View this post on Instagram A post shared by ✿ 休日ご褒美グルメ ✿ (@oishi_gohobi) Oribe (Shimokitazawa) Step inside Oribe , and you'll be welcomed not just by the scent of roasted tea and sweet red beans but also by shelves of beautifully crafted Japanese pottery. This Shimokitazawa gem is part cafe, part gallery, showcasing traditional wares like Mino-yaki, Arita-yaki and Hasami-yaki that are also occasionally for sale. The shop's kakigori is also served in these elegant bowls — fluffy mountains of ice topped with options like hojicha milk, matcha syrup with kinako warabi mochi (bracken starch cakes dusted with soybean powder) or red bean paste. For the adventurous, there's the Namaste kakigori, a punchy mix of Indian spices and spicy passion fruit syrup. The shop also hosts monthly exhibitions by up-and-coming ceramic artists. Address: 1F, 2-2-3 Kitazawa, Setagaya ward, Tokyo View this post on Instagram A post shared by keiko (@kei.114345) Asakusa Naniwaya (Asakusa) Naniwaya has been around since 1909, quietly serving up nostalgic sweets to loyal locals in the city's historic neighborhood. Its kakigori is cloud-like, topped with seasonal fruits and slow-simmered sauces that bring out just the right balance of sweetness and tang. Add-ons include a sweet potato sauce that melts into the ice. The shop is equally famous for its taiyaki — golden fish-shaped cakes with an ultra-thin crispy crust and a core of azuki from Hokkaido's Tokachi region. Address: 2-12-4 Asakusa, Taito ward, Tokyo View this post on Instagram A post shared by マジドゥショコラ (magieduchocolat) (@magieduchocolat) Magie du Chocolat (Jiyugaoka) Magie du Chocolat is best known for its ethically sourced chocolates — but in warmer months, its luxurious kakigori is a seasonal favourite. The bitter chocolate kakigori hides scoops of mascarpone and the shop's signature ice cream under layers of snowy ice, all crowned with delicate chocolate shavings and available with a rich chocolate sauce. Another standout is the decadent white chocolate kakigori, featuring luscious strawberry confiture, frozen fruit and a dreamy condensed milk-white chocolate drizzle. Address: 6-33-14 Okusawa, Setagaya ward, Tokyo View this post on Instagram A post shared by 和kitchenかんな (@wa_kitchen_kanna) Wa Kitchen Kanna (Sangenjaya) Tucked into the backstreets of Sangenjaya, Kanna feels like a serene hideout. The wooden interior has a soft, Japanese-inspired aesthetic that pairs perfectly with its elegant kakigori offerings. Crowd-pleasers include the tiramisu kakigori and the wakaba ('fresh verdure') kakigori — a blend of strawberries and matcha. A big reason fans follow Wa Kitchen Kanna on Instagram, however, is to keep abreast of the shop's experimental monthly specials. Recent showstoppers include yhe Sumomo BC, which features plum sauce, compote, kefir yogurt and mascarpone, and a kakigori made with Noto blueberries — part of the proceeds from which support recovery efforts in the earthquake-affected Noto region. They also serve hearty teishoku meal sets, so come hungry and stay awhile. Address: 2F COMS Shimouma, 2-43-11 Shimouma, Setagaya ward, Tokyo View this post on Instagram A post shared by KAKIGORI CAFE&BAR yelo @六本木かき氷 (@yelojp) Yelo (Roppongi) A late-night favorite in Roppongi, Yelo elevates kakigori into an after-hours indulgence. Its secret lies in temperature-controlled ice that's shaved to an impossibly fine, cloud-like consistency. Standouts include Ichigo Miruku DX, a strawberry-milk creation, and Tiramisu DX, both of which are topped with a generous swirl of mascarpone whipped cream. For the adventurous, the Night Kakigori series introduces alcohol into the mix, with flavor combinations like rum and fruit liqueur. Alongside its kakigori, the shop also serves a hearty selection of hot dogs, sandwiches and late-night bites. The Best Summer Hair Products Every Blonde Needs

Summer is officially here, and so are its villains: chlorine, UV rays, and saltwater. If you're blonde (natural or not), you already know the stakes. The dream is luminous, healthy, brass-free hair that feels as soft as it looks, and now, that's more achievable than ever. From smarter ingredient lists to post-pool rescue plans, the new rules of summer haircare go way beyond purple shampoo. Whether you're a platinum devotee, balayage obsessive, or simply want to preserve your tone and texture through heat waves and pool parties, we've got you covered. Hair health in 2025 is not about aesthetics alone; it's about resilience. Between rising temperatures and increased UV intensity, hair faces real oxidative stress. Recent studies link environmental damage to keratin breakdown and increased porosity in chemically processed hair. Plus, with the booming popularity of mineral sunscreens and chlorine-based sanitizers, it's no surprise color-treated hair needs more TLC than ever. Adam Livermore, Global Artist at Oribe Hair Care, doesn't mince words: 'If you're a color-treated blonde, pool water will badly damage your hair and will literally annihilate your color. Chlorine is the main culprit.' 'Your hair is like a sponge,' says Livermore. 'A wet sponge is a lot less absorbent than a dry one.' Before you swim, soak your hair with clean tap water. Then, coat strands with coconut oil or a leave-in conditioner to create a hydrophobic barrier. For serious swimmers, a silicone swim cap is your armor.' Oribe's Bright Blonde Collection is a cult favorite for a reason. 'It's formulated with violet and reflective pearlized pigments that help maintain tone,' says Livermore. But here's the kicker: it's gentle enough for daily use, unlike traditional toning products that can overdry or overtone. Minerals in pool water (hello, copper) don't just dull your shine, they'll turn your blonde hair green. A chelating shampoo like Ouai Detox Shampoo helps remove buildup from chlorine and heavy metals without stripping your color. Dermatologists confirm that mineral accumulation can exacerbate color distortion and dryness in chemically processed hair. Protein masks rich in amino acids help rebuild internal bonds weakened by UV and chemical exposure. Think of it as post-sun rehab for your strands. One study found that environmental damage causes keratin loss and breakage, especially in hair exposed to sunlight and oxidizing agents. Choose conditioners and masks labeled color-safe but loaded with hydrating ingredients like glycerin, hyaluronic acid, and sea buckthorn oil. Hydration protects your cuticle, keeps brass at bay, and extends time between salon visits. In fact, hydrating from within and sealing it topically has been shown to improve skin (and hair) resilience, smoothing texture, and preventing inflammation. Let's talk toner myths. Overuse of purple products can leave hair dull or grayish. The fix? Rotate with a moisture-replenishing, pigment-free formula. Another myth: clarifying is the same as detoxing. Not so. Clarifying strips; chelating removes buildup. You need both, but strategically. Invest in UV-protective sprays, wear a hat, and avoid hot tools when possible. Louise McSharry: I've ditched my intense hair routine but curl cream is a must

Some subscribe heavily to the incredibly strict 'curly girl method', which has rigid guidelines about the products you can and can't use and how you apply them. Some suggest a combination of three or four products is the secret to getting the glossy curls of your dreams. Others insist it's technique, and things like 'plopping' or the 'bowl method' are the answer. The truth is, it can all be a little too much. I spent a couple of years wearing my hair exclusively in its natural texture and experimenting with various methods. I discovered that there were some techniques that absolutely helped my hair reach its curliest peak, and yes, the use of multiple products could certainly enhance them. I also discovered that I simply don't have it in me to maintain an intense curl routine. Now, I break the rules. I brush my hair after my shower, I use products which contain sulphates because I really missed the lather when I used products without them, and I decided that when I want to wear my natural texture, I'm OK with it being less curly than it has the potential to be. What I am entirely dedicated to, however, is curl cream. Curl cream adds definition and shine while allowing your hair to fall into its natural curl or wave pattern, without it developing a stiff cast or becoming overly done. It's a simple 'your hair but better product', and I love it. Many curl experts will recommend that you only brush your hair in the shower, while it has conditioner in it, before carefully applying your chosen product to it afterwards. This definitely helps your hair to achieve its maximum curl potential, but these days my hair is long and I'm going for a grungier beachy vibe, so I apply some leave-in conditioner (I like Aveda's Botanical Repair Strengthening Leave-In Treatment, €42 via after the shower and brush it through. This results in looser, more lived-in waves, but obviously if your hair is coarser or curlier than mine, a different method might be better for you. Then, I apply a reasonably generous amount of curl cream (similar to the amount of conditioner I use) all over my hair, before scrunching it and allowing it to air dry. The amount or type of curl cream you use will depend on your individual texture and preference. So much of embracing your natural hair texture is about experimentation and having the confidence to ditch methods that don't work for you — this is my method five years in! At the moment, I'm loving Oribe's Curl Control Silkening Créme (€52 via It's light and leaves the air soft and glossy while providing definition. Another great option is Curlsmith's Weightless Air Dry Cream (€29.99 via which is also light but doesn't leave any crunch. For coarser hair, Ouai's Curl Créme (€34 via is creamy and easy to apply while delivering nourishment and definition. ADVERTISEMENT Learn more If you're just testing the curl cream waters, Camille Rose Curl Love Moisture Milk (€9.99 via is a gorgeous leave-in conditioner which almost functions as a very light curl cream. Buying Irish I've been incredibly impressed by Iconic Bronze's launches of late. The brand, which began with false tan, has moved heavily into the cosmetics space, and in short, the products are great. The latest launch, Iconic Bronze Filter Glow, is a 'skin perfector', meaning it adds glow and evenness to the complexion, without any real coverage. There are plenty of products in this category these days, but this works well for the price point. Use it under foundation to add glow or on its own for a 'your skin but slightly better' vibe. Something old… Lots of us are familiar with the benefits of vitamin C in a skincare routine, but for those who aren't, they are numerous. It plays a vital role in collagen products, which boosts elasticity and firmness. It is known to brighten the skin and even to reduce dark spots or hyperpigmentation. It is an antioxidant, meaning it protects the skin from free radicals and pollutants, it acts as an anti-inflammatory and even contributes to hydration. In short — it's great. I've been using Dermalogica's brilliant Biolumin C Serum (€108 via as my vitamin C product for years now. It delivers ultra stable vitamin C, which provides all of the aforementioned benefits. It also features lactic acid, which provides light exfoliation. Texturally and experientially, it's a pleasure. The light serum glides on and, frankly, I love it. ... Something new I always feel excited when Jennifer Rock launches a new Skingredients product. The range is full of excellent products, all of which perform well, and you can trust that they have been carefully developed with intense consideration. The latest launch is 15% Vit C, E + Tri-Mushroom Skin Booster (€45 via which features a potent level of vitamin C alongside tocopherol, which adds extra antioxidant power and hydration. Tri-mushroom is a new ingredient for me but, according to the brand, it is highly nutritious and has been designed to optimise skin health. This booster is designed to be used alongside the existing products in the Skingredients family and has a liquidy texture which is slightly heavier than water but not as thick as a serum. It glides easily across the face and is designed to be used morning and night as part of your usual routine.
