Orphan Foundation launches school bag distribution for 5,272 orphans in capital

Sana'a – Saba: The Orphan Development Foundation launched on Sunday the distribution of school bags for the academic year 1447 AH to 5,272 orphaned boys and girls in the capital municipality. During the inauguration ceremony, attended by the Chairman of the Orphan Foundation's Board of Directors, Taha Jaran, the Deputy Ministers of Education and Scientific Research for Basic Education, Hadi Ammar, and of Social Affairs and Labor for Social Services and Welfare, Yasser Sharafuddin, emphasized that caring for orphans is both an official and societal responsibility, not limited to the Orphan Foundation alone—especially amid the ongoing difficult economic conditions resulting from aggression and blockade, which have exacerbated their suffering. They affirmed that orphans are among the most productive and impactful segments of society, citing the example of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) as well as the orphans in Yemeni society and within the foundation who have embodied its motto: "From Need to Productivity." Ammar and Sharafuddin highlighted the importance of drawing spiritual, educational, and Quranic lessons from the commemoration of Ashura, as exemplified by the Ahl al-Bayt (the Prophet's household). They stressed the need to instill noble values and morals in orphans and future generations, given their crucial role in shaping the future and confronting the enemies of God and religion. They also discussed the high status of orphans in the eyes of God, the virtues of sponsoring them, and the necessity of providing them with psychological, moral, financial, educational, and healthcare support—commending the level of care and assistance the foundation offers orphans across various fields. For his part, Dr. Yusuf Al-Khadmi, Director of the Foundation's Care Department, stated that the school bags symbolize society's commitment to securing the future of children and orphans who have lost their guardians, giving them hope and strength to move forward in life. He noted that the 5,272 school bags are not just numbers but represent dreams, new opportunities, and steps toward a brighter future. They also convey a message of knowledge and solidarity, affirming that society stands with orphans , considers their education a priority and a mission to be fulfilled. Al-Khadmi added that the distribution is part of the foundation's broader programs and services for orphans, under the project to prepare future leaders, innovators, and thinkers capable of building and managing a prosperous future with competence. Meanwhile, in a speech on behalf of the orphans, the child Yahya Al-Shamsi expressed their joy over receiving the school bags, describing them as "seeds of hope planted in their hearts" and a reminder that they are not alone—that there are those who extend a helping hand and believe in their future. Al-Shamsi praised the level of care and support provided by the foundation in collaboration with donors and benefactors. Whatsapp Telegram Email Print more of (Local)
