Fire at uninhabitated in Oshkosh under investigation, officials seeking evidence to find cause
OSHKOSH, Wis. (WFRV) – The Oshkosh Police and Fire Departments were called to the scene of a fire at 1 p.m. on Saturday, which is being investigated for its cause. Officials announced that the departments were sent to the 1100 block of Pioneer Drive, reporting that smoke was seen from an uninhabited building with a fire inside. Man stabbed to death at Oshkosh's Menominee Park after large fight, teen arrested
OSHKOSH, Wis. (WFRV) – Authorities launched a homicide investigation after a man was found stabbed to death near Oshkosh's Menominee Park on Saturday night. Officers with the Oshkosh Police Department say the stabbing happened inside Menominee Park in the 1200 block of East Irving Avenue in Oshkosh. Man flown to hospital with life-threatening injuries after head-on collision in Outagamie County Around 11 p.m. on July 5, officers were initially called to a crash in the 900 block of East Irving Avenue, where they found a man with multiple stab wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Further investigation revealed a fight taking place between 'several' people who were at Menominee Park. Officers say that is when the fight escalated, leading to the man being stabbed. The Fond du Lac Police Department later helped to arrest a 19-year-old man from Fond du Lac for first-degree intentional homicide. Oshkosh police investigating a homicide after finding stabbed body near Menominee Park
The Oshkosh Police Department is investigating a homicide after finding a deceased male who had suffered multiple stab wounds on July 5. A 19-year-old man from Fond Du Lac has been taken into jail for first degree intentional homicide in connection with the person's death, according to information released by police on July 6. According to Oshkosh police, officers were dispatched to a car accident at the 900 block of E. Irving Ave. around 11 p.m. on Saturday. Once police arrived, they found the adult male driver deceased with multiple stab wounds. According to police, the stabbing is connected to a "physical altercation" between several people at nearby Menominee Park. The situation escalated and "resulted in one adult male being stabbed," according to the police news release from July 6. Menominee Park is less than a mile away from the location where the body was found. It is located on the western shore of Lake Winnebago in Oshkosh. 1 dies in fatal stabbing at Menominee Park in Oshkosh, Fond du Lac man in custody
OSHKOSH – A 19-year-old Fond du Lac man is in custody after police say a man was the victim of a fatal stabbing inside Menominee Park Saturday night. Oshkosh Police Department said officers were dispatched to a car crash in the 900 block of East Irving Avenue at around 11 p.m. July 5. When they arrived, they found the driver had suffered multiple stab wounds and was deceased. Police said further investigation revealed a physical altercation had occurred between several individuals inside Menominee Park in the 1200 block of East Irving Avenue. That altercation, according to police, escalated and resulted in the man being stabbed. Oshkosh residents are advised to buy only legal fireworks. What to know ahead of July 4.
OSHKOSH – Law enforcement is looking to crack down on illegal fireworks. The Oshkosh Police Department said in a June news release officers will be inspecting local dealers and stores to ensure illegal fireworks are not being sold to people who do not possess permits to buy those fireworks. OPD said officers also will respond to fireworks complaints 'to determine if a violation has occurred.' 'Fireworks may be enjoyable, but they can also cause distress to many in our community, especially those with PTSD or noise sensitivities,' OPD said. Risk of injuries and property damage are also reasons for the city's restrictions on fireworks. According to Wisconsin Emergency Management, fireworks-related injuries in the state resulted in 126 emergency room visits in 2024, with a quarter of those being children younger than 18. In October, the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office said a 41-year-old man was hospitalized after fireworks exploded and severely damaged his left hand as he was using a power tool to disassemble it.
