Al Khor Cultural Center launches summer camp for children
QNA Doha The Al Khor Cultural Center, affiliated with the Ministry of Culture, has launched its summer programme for this year under the theme 'Our Summer, a Launch into Creativity' . The programme will run until August 6 and feature a wide range of purposeful cultural and artistic activities. This initiative is part of the Ministry of Culture's ongoing efforts to offer summer programmes that enrich the time of children and youth, while fostering their talents and abilities in a stimulating creative environment. Director of Al Khor Cultural Center, Maryam Ali Al Muhannadi, stated that the summer programme aims to make productive use of children's free time during the school break by catering to their needs and interests in a way that benefits them, under the supervision of qualified trainers. Al Muhannadi explained that the programme includes a variety of workshops that cater to different interests, such as oil painting, creative candle-making, anime drawing, kids' crafts, bead and decoration art, 'Make My Own Doll' workshop, advanced resin art, colorful bracelet-making, and floral crown and arrangement workshops for special occasions. Additionally, a mosaic art workshop is offered exclusively for girls aged 7 to 18 years and above. She added that the programme also includes a cooking workshop to teach participants culinary skills, as well as a Majlis Etiquette workshop offered for the first time for boys, in cooperation with the 'Nomas' Center. This workshop aims to introduce participants to the traditional customs and etiquette of Qatari majlis gatherings.

Summer skills programme launched in Suhar, Khaboura & Shinas
Suhar – As part of its efforts to nurture young talent, Ministry of Labour (MoL), represented by the vocational colleges in Suhar, Khaboura and Shinas, has launched a series of specialised training programmes for school students in cooperation with North Batinah Governor's Office. Called Our Summer: Skills and Creativity, the programmes aim to equip students with practical skills that enhance their talents and prepare them for real-life situations. The programmes provide an interactive environment where participants can exchange ideas, experiences and questions. A ministry official stated that the series reflects the ministry's vision to support the younger generation by developing their capabilities through hands-on vocational training. The programmes taking place at Shinas Vocational College are focused on the fundamentals of the English language, basics of electricity and physics, drawing, refrigeration and air conditioning, welding, and fabrication. Khaboura Vocational College is conducting training in 3D model design, printing and assembly, marine safety, distress response and safe navigation. Suhar Vocational College is offering sessions on home water maintenance, wood design and shaping, painting, and decoration. The training programmes are part of MoL's broader aim to prepare students for the future by bridging the gap between academic learning and the technical skills required in the labour market.

Inclusive summer programmes promote wellness
Al Batinah North Governorate is currently experiencing a high level of public engagement in summer programmes that extend beyond traditional cultural activities. This year, there is a greater emphasis on the mental and physical well-being of children and youth. Organised by the General Directorate of Culture, Sports and Youth, the Summer Sports Days have attracted more than 1,000 participants of various ages and genders, reflecting the community's growing interest in inclusive and beneficial development. The programme, held at the Sohar Sports Complex and continuing throughout July, offers a wide range of activities. Boys have participated in football, swimming and karate, while girls enjoy a dedicated centre that provides a safe and motivating space to engage in sports that develop fitness and motor skills. Mohammed al Farsi, General Director of the Department of Youth and Sports Activities, highlighted that the summer initiative is designed to nurture talents, promote values of teamwork and citizenship; and offer meaningful experiences during the school holiday. He noted the high level of enthusiasm across age groups, which highlights the programme's success in meeting its developmental goals. Participants also shared their positive experiences. Azzan al Hinai, a 17-year-old who joined the football programme, said, "It's been a great way to stay active and meet new people. I've learned how to work better in a team and improve my focus both on and off the field". From the girls' centre, Noor al Maqbali shared her excitement: "This is the first time I've joined a sports programme just for girls. It's empowering and I feel stronger and more confident every day". To expand the reach of these initiatives, the Directorate organised a Sports Caravan in Yanba village, located in Suhar. The event featured football, volleyball, tug of war and games for children, drawing strong participation from residents of all ages and helping spread sports culture to more remote areas. Summer centres at local clubs also continue to operate under the theme "Our Summer: Leadership and Creativity", supported by the Office of the Governor of Al Batinah North. These centres provide a mix of sports activities in a safe, energetic environment. Sports activities were distributed across participating clubs like Al Salam (football, volleyball, hockey), Majees (football, volleyball), Sohar (football, volleyball), Saham (football, girls' handball, table tennis), Al Khabourah (football, karate for both genders), and Al Suwaiq (football, girls' chess).

Dubai Police summer programme for students kicks off in 16 training centres
29 June 2025 19:23 DUBAI (WAM) Dubai Police has officially launched its 2025 summer programme for students on Sunday themed "Our Summer is Safety, Happiness, Innovation, and Leadership." This year, the programme welcomes 1,332 students from 35 countries, aged 11 to General Department of Anti-Narcotics' International Hemaya Centre is organising the programme in partnership with the Ministry of Education, the Knowledge and Human Development Authority in Dubai (KHDA), various external entities, as well as several police stations and general of the General Department of Anti-Narcotics, Major General Eid Mohammad bin Thani Harib, underscored the Dubai Police's commitment to supporting and organising summer programmes and activities for students at the end of the academic noted that the goal is to maximise students' time, foster a strong sense of national identity, promote respect for laws and regulations, instil values of loyalty, and cultivate a generation of informed youth aware of significant issues and risks.'This preparation empowers them to tackle challenges responsibly and professionally, helping them avoid legal troubles,' he highlighted that developing a student's character necessitates the collaborative efforts of all institutions, grounded in scientific principles that can nurture a new generation of leaders for both the government and private sectors. He thanked the 40 strategic partners, including government and semi-government entities, various general departments within Dubai Police, and several police stations, for their invaluable support.'Their contributions have played a crucial role in ensuring the sustainability and remarkable growth of seasonal programmes over the years, as well as increasing participation in training centres,' he the Director of the International Hemaya Centre, Brigadier Abdul Rahman Sharf Al Maamari, announced that this year's summer courses will be offered across 16 training Al Maamari said they offer five categories of summer activities, events, and programmes: training programmes, specialised programmes, "Your Awareness is Protection," lectures from strategic partners, and field training programmes include field training, military training, sports training, Future Officer programmes, and sports competitions. Additionally, specialised programmes feature the Little Rescuer Course (Swimming), a diving course, Promising Investigator Course, martial arts course, Little Assistant 901 Course, Bicycle Patrol Course, and SWAT the "Your Awareness is Protection" lectures cover essential topics such as the dangers of drugs, electronic smoking, e-crime, electronic gaming, bullying, traffic safety, and more. Furthermore, field visits will include the Dubai Police Museum, Dubai Police 901 Call Centre, Care and Attention Programme for Police Dogs, Shooting Range, Forensic Evidence, and Horse Care.

Jabal Akhdar Festival 2025 from July 15
Muscat – Dakhliyah is preparing to host Jabal Akhdar Festival 2025 from July 15 to August 30, offering a wide range of tourism, cultural and entertainment activities to attract visitors from Oman and abroad. The festival aims to highlight the unique natural beauty and cool summer climate of Jabal Akhdar, reinforcing its status as one of Oman's top summer destinations. A preparatory meeting chaired by Sheikh Sultan bin Mansour al Ghafeeli, Wali of Jabal Akhdar, was held on Sunday to finalise plans and logistics. The session brought together officials from government and private sectors, civil society organisations and event organisers. Key topics included venue readiness, infrastructure improvements, health and safety measures, and managing visitor flow, alongside ensuring all supporting services are in place for a smooth festival experience. This edition will feature an expanded programme of theatre shows, cultural and recreational activities, and sports events. A new highlight is an event called Gulf Knights Gathering, which will bring equestrian enthusiasts from across the GCC to take part in heritage-themed presentations and competitions, adding a regional dimension to the festival. The festival is part of broader efforts to stimulate domestic tourism, support local businesses and create seasonal job opportunities. Small businesses and local families will be given dedicated space to promote and sell their products during the festival. To complement these efforts, a campaign called 'Our Summer is Cool' will promote Jabal Akhdar and other moderate-climate destinations in Dakhliyah as ideal summer retreats.
