Outlander: Blood of My Blood season two announced ahead of launch
Outlander fans were treated to an unexpected announcement regarding the prequel Outlander: Blood of My Blood. Outlander fans are absolutely over the moon after the network Starz dropped the unexpected announcement. The broadcaster is going all in the Outlander universe, renewing Outlander: Blood Of My Blood for a second season, even before the first season has aired a single episode. In a statement, Blood of My Blood's showrunner and executive producer Matthew B. Roberts said: "The passion and talent our cast and crew have poured into Outlander: Blood of my Blood has been extraordinary and we're thrilled to continue these epic love stories in season two." "Just as audiences fell in love with Jamie and Claire, we hope viewers will be enamoured by these new couples when they meet them this summer," he continued. And much to the excitement of fans the production for season two of Outlander: Blood Of My Blood, is already in production. Kicking off earlier this week in the Scottish Highlands, in the exact same location Outlander was filmed over the last decade. The prequel follows the romance between Ellen MacKenzie and Brain Fraser, parents of Sam Heughan's beloved character Jamie Fraser. As well as exploring the connection between Julia Moriston and Henry Beauchamp, the parents to Caitríona Balfe's character Claire Fraser. The story is set in the battlefields of World War I and the rugged Highlands of 18th century Scotland. The two couples face challenges that try to tear them apart, intersecting them in surprising and unforeseen ways. The first season of Outlander: Blood of My Blood will premiere on August 8, with new episodes available to stream weekly on Fridays via Starz on Amazon Prime Video. The news of a second season came as a surprise to Outlander fans, as Outlander: Blood of My Blood was expected to be a limited series, with only ten episodes. Amid the news of season two, the official Outlander Instagram shared a series of unexpected snaps of the cast, alongside the caption: "We've only just begun: #BloodOfMyBlood has started production on Season 2!" The first picture featured an exciting image of the four main characters, who will be played by Jeremy Irvine, Harriet Slater, Hermione Corfield and Jamie Roy as they smiled at the camera in a group selfie. Fans were quick to share their excitement in the comments, with one fan writing: "What amazing news! I'm already counting down to BOMB's premiere - and Season 2 is already underway?! So exciting!" As another jokingly stated: "Season 1 isn't even out yet but season 2 is already starting. Oh yeah, I've got a good feeling about the trauma to come." While a third voice their congratulations, saying: "OMG!!! I'm not even surprised because we know this show is going to be that GOOD. Congrats to everyone," alongside fire and clapping emojis. However, a fan was quick to question, when season eight of Outlander was coming out, writing: "Love thaaaat but we also need season 8 date???" As of right now it is unclear when Outlander will be airing its eighth and final season.

Outlander fans can't get enough of Claire Fraser's mum as she stuns at Blood of my Blood premiere
Hermione Corfield plays Claire Fraser's mum Julia in the prequel show Blood of my Blood. The release of Outlander's prequel Blood of My Blood is just a few months away and fans are literally counting down the hours to get their Outlander fix. The brand new show will delve into the tales of how Jamie's and Claire's parents first crossed paths. The prequel is set to whisk viewers away to the "war-ravaged battlegrounds of World War One to the expansive Highlands of 18th Century Scotland", showcasing "two fresh love stories brimming with loyalty, passion and desire". The characters of Claire's parents, Julia and Henry, will be brought to life by We Hunt Together star Hermione Corfield and Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again actor Jeremy Irvine. The parents of Jamie Fraser, Brian Fraser and Ellen MacKenzie, will be portrayed by Condor's Nest actor Jamie Roy and Belgravia: The Next Chapter actress Harriet Slater. And now, the four have reunited for the official premiere of the show in LA. Fans couldn't get enough of Hermione Corfield, who plays Claire's mother Julia Beauchamp, as she shared snaps on her Instagram page. Sharing a series of snaps of herself in a stunning blue and white floral dress, followed by a snap of the cast in a pink cart, Hermione penned: "Blood of my Blood screening at @sonypictures shot by @cibellelevi." Many fans flocked to the comments to compliment Hermione. One said: "Oh my! This is next level Hermione." Another penned: "These are some really stunning shots." While one commented: "Love the dress girl!" And another said: "You look gorgeous." Joining the four on the cast list are Your Honor's Tony Curran as Simon Fraser, Rebus' Seamus McLean Ross as Colum MacKenzie, Ackley Bridge's Sam Retford as Dougal MacKenzie, Rory Alexander as Murtagh Fitzgibbons Fraser and BBC Two's Industry actor Conor MacNeill as Ned Gowan. The prequel, titled Outlander: Blood Of My Blood, is based on both the original TV series and the book series by Diana Gabaldon. It delves into the early 20th Century in England and the 18th Century in Scotland. Blood Of My Blood will explore the love stories of Jamie's parents Brian and Ellen, who must navigate clan politics, while Claire's parents, Henry and Julia, maintain a long-distance relationship due to the war. Outlander fans will recall that Claire's parents tragically died in a car crash when she was just five-years-old, adding a layer of tragedy to their story. Matthew B Roberts, the executive producer and showrunner of the original series, has written and produced Outlander: Blood Of My Blood, with Gabaldon returning as a consulting producer.
