Outlander star flooded with support after sharing car crash ordeal that left her with broken bones
Outlander's Sophie Skelton has opened up on a car crash she was involved in that left her with several broken bones - but she still managed to film the movie she was working on
Sophie Skelton, famed for her portrayal of Brianna Fraser in Outlander, has garnered an outpouring of support from devoted followers after revealing she endured a frightening car accident during turbulent weather conditions.
The cherished actress took to Instagram, sharing gripping accounts of her traumatic experience, particularly regarding the aftermath of a severe storm that caused her vehicle to aquaplane and overturn on her journey.
Skelton posted several photographs from behind the scenes of working on the film Row, which won Best UK Feature at the Raindance Film Festival, detailing the extreme filming environments: "We filmed in the middle of nowhere on a cliff edge in an old, abandoned navy base. The weather was something else."
Recalling the harrowing incident, she wrote: "After shutting down Day 1 of shooting due to a massive storm, my car aquaplaned and flipped on the way to work the next day."
The brave star continued to work despite significant injuries, including: "After a fun night in the ol' hospital, I proceeded to film the next 5 weeks on the ocean with two broken ribs, a broken finger, and whiplash."
Skelton extended heartfelt gratitude towards the emergency crews who came to their aid, stating: "Featuring pics from a day out surfing, the police officers and @ who helped Loks and me after the wreck, our epic cast and crew - who powered through 70+mph winds most days - and my bleached sea salt head of curls in full swing. @rowthefilm hits UK cinemas in August. Hope you enjoy the ride."
Upon discovering her ordeal, fans swiftly took to the comment section to offer solace and good wishes, with user Brilliantly_balfe commenting: "OMG Sophie! So glad you're ok! You are a trooper! Looking forward to seeing you in the film!"
