'Just do it': Sky News host ‘sickened' after Abbie Chatfield signals for American incels to assassinate President Donald Trump

Influencer Abbie Chatfield is under fire for signalling to American incels to assassinate US President Donald Trump, leaving a Sky News host 'sickened' as a Senator calls on Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to condemn the 'vile rhetoric'. Chatfield asked Americans 'when are you going to do it?' in a TikTok video which is now deleted. "Why isn't it already done? You, every day there is another (gun finger hand gesture shown) happening right? Awful for your country, awful right?" Chatfield said. 'Why don't we re-direct this energy to something else, you know, there's all this incels that are going 'no one wants to f*** me', so they go and do (gun finger hand gesture shown). 'You know what would actually make people respect you a little bit and maybe want to f*** you, as if you did it, as if you did it. 'You would get heaps of fan mail. Oh my god, oh my god … just do it. Like you are doing it every day anyway. Like I don't f***ing get it … like what.' Sky News host Rowan Dean suggested her 'bizarre' rant incited young men to assassinate Trump. 'So, there is lots of hand gestures of a gun. She's not explicit, so I will make that very clear,' he said on Sky News' Outsiders on Sunday. 'But the implication that I read from that was that she was saying to American young men, who are incels, who struggle to find a girlfriend or whatever, to go and assassinate President Trump. 'That seemed to be the implication behind 'just do it' and this (gun finger hand gesture shown) and that. I may be wrong and there may be a completely other explanation to what she was saying. 'But as a viewer taking it as face value, that's how I read it, and it sickened me." Fellow Sky News host Rita Panahi called for Mr Albanese to be asked about the deleted video. 'Well, I would like the Prime Minister to be asked about this because he chose to go on her podcast,' she said. 'I can guarantee you if it was a Liberal prime minister who went on someone's podcast who then uttered anything approaching that, they would be questioned about it, they would be asked to disassociate or at least pass some sort of comment on the association with that person.' Mr Albanese sat down with Chatfield for a 90-minute interview on the It's a Lot with Abbie Chatfield , prior to the federal election this year. United Australia Party Senator Ralph Babet said the Prime Minister must 'immediately' condemn Chatfield's 'vile rhetoric'. '(She is) calling for the assassination of the sitting President of the United States - our most important security ally - is not just unhinged, it's stochastic terrorism,' he said on X. has reached out to Mr Albanese's office for comment.

The drama-plagued MP once headed for top job

Mark Latham was once poised to become prime minister of Australia but has now become embroiled in controversy over allegations he abused his former partner and covertly photographed female colleagues in parliament. The former Labor leader and one-time NSW One Nation head was back in the spotlight this week over a series of allegations, many stemming from an apprehended violence order application by his ex-partner, Nathalie Matthews. Mr Latham, whose term ends in 2031, has strenuously denied the allegations contained in Ms Matthews' AVO application that have not been tested in court, and he has not been charged by NSW Police with any criminal offence. Who is Mark Latham? Born in Sydney, Mr Latham shot to prominence in the Labor Party as a research assistant under former leaders Gough Whitlam and Bob Carr. He first joined the Liverpool City Council in the city's southwest in 1987 and later served as mayor before entering the House of Representatives as the member for Werriwa. Mark Latham has become embroiled in controversy over allegations he abused his former partner. NewsWire / Nikki Short Credit: News Corp Australia Mr Latham went on to narrowly defeat Kim Beazley for the Labor Party leadership in 2003, the youngest leader of the party since 1901. As leader of the opposition, he took the Labor Party to the 2004 federal election where he was defeated by the incumbent prime minister, John Howard. The defeat was widely blamed on an aggressive handshake with the Liberal leader outside an ABC radio studio on election eve. Mr Latham left politics the following year but returned in 2017 as a member of the Liberal Democratic Party and later as NSW One Nation leader. He successfully stood for One Nation in the upper house in the 2019 state election and again in 2023 but was removed from the party that year by Pauline Hanson. He has since stood as an independent, serving on Legislative Council committees in the NSW parliament. In the news Mr Latham's departure from politics in 2005 marked a pivot to social commentary, including publishing a memoir and a stint hosting Sky News' Outsiders. He was fired from the program in 2017 over comments he made about fellow presenter Kristina Keneally and the 15-year-old daughter of then RBA governor, Phillip Lowe. Mr Latham and that handshake with then prime minister John Howard in 2004. John Feder Credit: News Corp Australia Mr Latham has regularly voiced his opposition to so-called left wing policies, being critical of immigration, voting against same-sex marriage, and supporting a burqa ban. He was taken to court in 2023 for defamation by Sydney MP Alex Greenwich over homophobic tweets crudely describing a sex act. The Federal Court ordered Ms Latham pay Mr Greenwich $140,000 last year. He was also accused of breaking a taxi driver's arm in a dispute in Sydney in 2001. What is happening now? The most recent controversy began earlier this week when The Australian published Ms Matthews' allegations. The allegations include claims Mr Latham pressured Ms Matthews into 'degrading' sex acts and threw dinner plates at her. Mr Latham described the allegations on X as 'comically false and ridiculous' and said police had not been in contact with him. That was only the beginning for Mr Latham, with reports over the coming days alleging he sent sexually explicit messages to Ms Matthews while in parliament. Mr Latham acknowledged sending the messages, stating the 'big news is I have a private life'. Alexander Greenwich successfully sued Mr Latham for defamation. NewsWire/Tamati Smith. Credit: News Corp Australia 'I had a sex life that I've got to say was fantastic,' he said. Mr Latham was further alleged to have used his parliamentary office for 'sordid' sexual trysts captured on video and covertly photographed female colleagues in parliament. He was also alleged on Friday in a report from The Daily Telegraph to have not disclosed tens of thousands of dollars given to him by Ms Matthews. Mr Latham disparaged the report later that morning but did not deny receiving the gifts. He described a reference to him throwing Ms Matthews' possessions in a dam in an invoice as being an 'in-joke'. 'Matthews used to joke if we ever broke up, I would throw her stuff in the dam on my property,' Mr Latham said on X.

David Morse: 'We Were Liars' is modern-day 'King Lear'

Photo courtesy of Prime Video NEW YORK, June 18 (UPI) -- The Last Thing He Told Me, Outsiders and John Adams actor David Morse says he sees a glimmer of William Shakespeare's doomed patriarch King Lear in Harris Sinclair, the character he plays in the new series We Were Liars. The adaptation of E. Lockhart's best-selling young adult novel premieres on Prime Video Wednesday. It follows teen Cadence Sinclair Eastman (Emily Alyn Lind), who summers with her cousins and friends on her grandfather Harris' New England private island. Vying for Harris' attention are his adult daughters Bess (Candice King), Penny (Caitlin FitzGerald) and Carrie (Mamie Gummer). "It was hard not to see it that way a little bit, not that I could really go down that road, but it definitely had those parallels, especially because he's -- and it's one of the reasons I wanted to do this and nobody in the story knows it -- but he has dementia in the future," Morse, 71, told UPI in a recent Zoom interview. "He can feel it coming and there's a kind of a clock ticking for him," the actor said. "There's things that he wants to get done before he's really gone and it makes him very vulnerable and touching to me and unexpected in a character like this. So, in that way, I suppose it's like King Lear." Fall of the House of Usher, Midnight Mass and Haunting of Bly Manor alum Rahul Kohi, 39, plays Carrie's boyfriend Ed, while Shubham Maheshwari portrays Gat, Ed's nephew and Cadence's love interest. Ed is one of the only men in the family to hold his own with Harris and his daughters. "They're the best of friends," Kohi quipped about Ed and his demanding future father-in-law. "They're very similar. They're both protecting their families in very different ways. Harris is, obviously, the way he is through wanting to protect his family and Ed endures what he endures from Harris in order to protect his family. So, they're kind of mirroring each other, but coming at it from different ways." One reason they clash, however, is their perspectives on wealth. Harris has always had money and takes it for granted, while Ed and Gat know how hard it is for regular folk to live without it. "It's been a part of his life for so long," Morse said about his millions. "His daughters do not handle their wealth well and he really has a hard time with that because he feels he has taken care of it extremely well and expected them to do the same and they have not done the same," he added. "So, he's actually looking for someone to do a better job with it and he focuses on Cadence, who is the central character in the story." A bit of an outsider who is always trying to prove himself, Ed is wary when Gat begins a romance with Cadence. "Gat, in some way, could be potentially walking the same path as Ed," Kohi said. "Ed's not his father, obviously. He's his nephew, but I feel like, at this point, with what Gat's going through, it felt the most fatherly Ed had to become in order to help him navigate what he was going through, through an experience that, obviously, Ed is dealing with himself." Kohi said he was excited about his scenes with Maheshwari from the show's table read until the cameras started rolling. "Those kind of 'Rocky Balboa' pep talks were some of my favorite to do," he added. "I remember the table reads. They were great. They went down well and I was really excited to film them and they exceeded my expectations."
