Sidrah 4.0 opens applications: Calling Oman's next generation of women leaders

Muscat – Sidrah 4.0, the celebrated youth leadership initiative designed to inspire and equip young Omani women, has officially opened applications. Since its inception in June 2022, Sidrah has supported over 169 graduates from 11 governorates, who have gone on to launch projects, step into management roles, and contribute meaningfully in multiple ways. Co-designed and co-delivered by Lahunna Oman in collaboration with Outward Bound Oman, Sidrah 4.0 seeks Omani women aged 20-33 from across the Sultanate of Oman. This three-month program offers a blend of immersive outdoor experiences, engaging workshops, mentorship, online courses, and professional coaching, closely aligning with Oman's Vision 2040 priorities. "Sidrah offers Omani women the tools, confidence, and inspiration to shape their futures and drive positive change in their communities," said Shatha Al Maskiry, Founder of Lahunna Oman. "We're excited to welcome a new group of ambitious young women ready to embrace this transformative journey.' Mohammed Al-Zadjali, Acting Executive Director of Outward Bound Oman, added: "We look forward to hosting a new group of young Omani women in our Jabal Akhdar training centre where they will embark on an immersive and inspiring educational and training journey through the Sidrah program. We hope that the program will build on its success in its fourth edition and contribute to supporting female leadership in the Sultanate of Oman." The Inspiration behind Sidrah The program draws its name from the local Sidr tree - a symbol of strength and adaptability located across various environments - with some specimens in Oman dating over 350 years. When the roots of the Sidr come across a barrier, they twist and turn to overcome it, adjusting beautifully and resiliently, just as the program's participants will find within themselves the flexibility and strength to adapt and grow over the course of this unique experiential journey. Sunday 4th May 2025: In partnership with bp Oman, Outward Bound Oman in collaboration with the SME Development Authority announced the launch of 'Wa'ed' programme, to empower Omani startups in the fields of technology and innovation, aiming to contribute to their growth and sustainability. The programme targets 100 Omani entrepreneurs from startups and students companies and offers them with a comprehensive training experience in three phases, with each phase focusing on developing skills that support the growth and sustainability of their companies such as leadership, communication, teamwork skills as well as collaboration, innovation, and environmental stewardship, by combining both indoor and outdoor training activities. Mohamed Al Zadjali, Acting Executive Director at Outward Bound Oman, said: 'Our partnership in the 'Wa'ed' programme reflects the importance of collaboration between government sector, private sector, and civil society, unifying efforts to serve the entrepreneurship sector, which is a key component of the Sustainable Development Goals in the Sultanate of Oman. ' Ibrahim Al Hinai, Social investment manager at bp Oman, Kuwait, and Qatar, commented: 'Empowering local capabilities is a key focus at bp Oman, and supporting Omani start-ups growth plays a crucial role in this. This programme will work with various promising Omani start-ups, allowing them to expand, develop, and grow, which will further enhance Oman's economy and contribute to building a stronger community.' Bp Oman and Outward Bound Oman conclude ‘Sustainable Future' programme

Outward Bound Oman concluded the 'Sustainable Future' programme, in partnership with bp Oman, which aimed to overall enhance the environmental awareness within the Omani youth and the role of each individual in contributing towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The "Sustainable Future" programme is an outdoor training course for university/college students specialised in environmental studies, as well as job seekers interested in the environment. It aimed to raise awareness among Omani youth about critical global issues such as climate change, environmental sustainability, and the transition to green energy. The programme benefited more than 128 participants in eight training courses held in the Sharqiyah Desert and Jabal Akhdar. The courses included various activities and group discussions, as well as hiking and camping outdoors for three days. The programme was further enhanced by hosting specialized mentors working in the environmental field to share real-world experiences with the participants. Mohammed Al Zadjali, the Chief Operating Officer at Outward Bound Oman, added: "At Outward Bound Oman, we are committed to our responsibility towards the environment which is the classroom hosting our training programmes. We are proud of our collaboration with bp Oman in the 'Sustainable Future' programme as a true reflection of this commitment by inspiring the next generation of youth about the importance of environmental sustainability." Outward Bound Oman and Mission Spiritus celebrates the success of a 21 Day Scientific Research Expedition

Muscat: Under the auspices of His Excellency Sheikh Mahmoud bin Rashid bin Hilal Al Saadi, Wali of Al Qabil, Outward Bound Oman and 'Mission Spiritus' celebrated the successful completion of a 21 day scientific research expedition, crossing more than 1,000 km from Salalah, across the Empty Quarter Desert, to the final destination at Outward Bound Oman's Desert Training Centre in the Sharqiyah Sands. 'Mission Spiritus' is an extraordinary research expedition led by British Explorer Alan Chambers and Columbia University. It represents a critical milestone in advancing environmental research and raising global awareness about the impact of micro and nano plastics in remote environments. This global initiative is conducted over a four-year period and focuses on collecting samples from extreme environments, including icy landscapes and dry deserts. Its goal is to study key environmental issues, such as the presence of nano and micro plastics and their effects of climate change on coastlines. Following their groundbreaking work in Antarctica, the 'Mission Spiritus' team chose the Empty Quarter Desert in Oman as their second destination for research. This ambitious mission was conducted in Oman in collaboration with Outward Bound Oman and Sultan Qaboos University, showcasing the Sultanate's commitment to supporting global research efforts and environmental preservation. Outward Bound Oman is a pioneering educational non-profit organization that was launched in May 2009 and was further established in 2014 by Ministerial Decree. It provides transformative programmes that foster personal growth, resilience, and leadership skills through unique training courses in the Sultanate of Oman's stunning natural landscapes. As the first Outward Bound center in the Arabian region, Outward Bound Oman proudly contributed to empowering more than 28 K participants including youth, professionals, and communities to excel in their personal and professional lives, aligning with Oman's 2040 vision for a sustainable future.
