Primetime 585 Spotlight Team: Honeoye Boys Basketball
HONEOYE, N.Y. (WROC) — The Primetime 585 Spotlight Team is the Honeoye boys basketball team. They have won 24 consecutive games after dropping the first contest of the season.
The Bulldogs captured their second regional title in school history this past week after knocking off Westfield of Section VI 64-60 in the Class C regional matchup.
Owen Cuba and Owen Reynolds both made big contributions on defense before fouling out. Dylan Washburn came up big from the free throw line, going 3 for 4 in the closing minute and finishing with 10 points.
Braiden Schneider also went 3 for 4 from the line at the end of the game, finishing with 15 points. Landon Washburn, only a sophomore and already a 1,000-point scorer, finished with 28 points.
The 6'7' wing averaged nearly 26 points and 8 rebounds this year. He is a rising star in Section V basketball.
Honeoye will begin their quest for a state title when they face Moravia in the semifinals on Friday at 3:15 p.m. in Binghamton.
