e-Pauti campaign launched in Mysuru
Minister for Social Welfare H.C. Mahadevappa launched the e-Pauti campaign in Mysuru district on Friday. As announced in the 2025–26 Budget, the campaign aims at transfering land ownership records (pauti) identified during the Aadhaar linking of RTCs (Record of Rights, Tenancy, and Crops) to rightful heirs. Previously, farmers in rural areas faced several difficulties in updating ownership records. Now, the government will provide the service at the people's doorsteps to resolve their grievances efficiently, a press release said. According to Additional Deputy Commissioner P. Shivaraju, around 2,58,076 beneficiaries are expected to avail themselves of the benefit in the district, and the administration will take steps for effective implementation.

Mangalya Bhagya: 22 couples enter wedlock in Nanjangud
Additional Deputy Commissioner P. Shivaraju on Thursday emphasised that people should not take loans for marriages but should opt for simple weddings to set an example for others. He was speaking at Mangalya Bhagya, a free mass wedding programme organised on the premises of Srikanteshwara temple in Nanjangud. The event was organised by the district administration, hindu religious institutions, and the Endowment Department. Dr. Shivaraju said the purpose of this initiative is to prevent poor and middle-class families from falling into financial hardship due to extravagant wedding expenses. Launched in 2020, Mangalya Bhagya is an ambitious scheme of the State government. 'No one should take loans for lavish weddings and then struggle to repay them. Instead, opt for a simple wedding so that families can save money and use it for other essential needs,' he said. This year, 24 couples were married through the mass wedding. Mr. Shivaraj expressed hope that at least 100 couples would participate in the event next year. Nanjangud Municipality president Srikanta praised the Endowment Department for organising such a meaningful programme. 'This helps avoid unnecessary expenses and provides an opportunity for the underprivileged to get married free of cost. Hence, more such mass wedding programmes should be encouraged.' Tahsildar Shivakumar Kasanur, Jagdish Kumar from the Srikanteshwara Temple, and other officials were present.

The event was part of the Karnataka government's initiative promoting simple weddings for economically disadvantaged families. P. Shivaraju, Additional deputy commissioner, who presided over the mass wedding, emphasised the importance of financial prudence during life's milestones. 'There is no need to take loans for weddings. Simple ceremonies can set an example for others and prevent families from falling into debt,' he said. Launched in 2020, Mangalya Bhagya is a flagship programme jointly organised by the District Administration and the Department of Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments. It aims to support poor and middle-income families by covering wedding expenses, ensuring that financial constraints don't stand in the way of a new beginning, the ADC stated. Shivaraju expressed optimism about the growing impact of the initiative, stating, 'This year, 24 couples are beginning a new chapter without the burden of debt. We hope to see that number grow to at least 100 in the coming year.' Srikantha, President of the Nanjangud City Municipal Council , echoed this sentiment, commending the programme as a 'thoughtful and practical approach' to reducing unnecessary expenditure and supporting community welfare. 'Such events bring dignity and convenience to families who might otherwise struggle to afford wedding costs,' he added. The ceremony was also attended by Tahsildar Shivakumar Kasanur and Jagadeesh Kumar from Srikanteshwara Temple.
