All Luzon dam gates closed —PAGASA
The gates of two Luzon dams which were previously opened have already been closed, data from PAGASA showed on Saturday. At 12 a.m. on July 12, one gate at Ambuklao Dam in Benguet, which was open at 0.5 meters on Friday, was closed, according to PAGASA-Flood Forecasting and Warning Section. Likewise, one gate of Binga Dam in Benguet, which was open on Friday at 0.3 meters, was closed at 12 a.m. The dam gates were opened earlier this week to release water amid heavy rains from the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat). On Saturday, the Southwest Monsoon will continue to prevail across the Philippines, PAGASA said. Western Visayas, Cavite, Batangas, Palawan, and Occidental Mindoro will see occasional rains, while Metro Manila, Mindanao, Central Luzon, Bicol Region, Pangasinan, the rest of Visayas, CALABARZON, and MIMAROPA will expect cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms. Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms will be observed for the rest of Luzon, PAGASA said. —KG, GMA Integrated News

Ambuklao, Binga dam water gates remain open
Two dams in Luzon have gates that remained open on Tuesday to release water following rains in the country over the past few days. According to data from the PAGASA-Flood Forecasting and Warning Section on Tuesday morning, Ambuklao Dam had one gate open at 0.3 meters. The outflow of water had risen to 92.98 cubic meters per second (cms) from 47.23 cms on Monday. Ambuklao Dam's reservoir currently holds 751.71 meters of water, which was a 0.32-meter increase from 751.39 meters on Monday morning and was close to the dam's Normal High Water Level (NHWL) of 752.00 meters. Meanwhile, Binga Dam has closed one of its water gates and left one open at 0.3 meters, with 50.50 cms water outflow. The dam previously had two gates open at 0.80 meters with 113.87 cms water outflow on Monday. The water in Binga Dam's reservoir had lowered down to 573.18 meters from 573.45 meters on Monday. The dam's NHWL is 575.00 meters. PAGASA earlier reported that the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) is causing rains across the country. The Philippines also experienced heavy rains over the past week as a result of the effects of the then-Tropical Depression Bising before it left the Philippine Area of Responsibility. —Jiselle Anne Casucian/KG, GMA Integrated News
