Miri cops seize 18 motorcycles, issue 61 summonses during Op Samseng Jalanan

Miri police chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah said the operation was held between 10pm on Saturday and 3am yesterday at various locations here. He said the operation by the Miri Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division sought to stop illegal racing and ensure road users comply with traffic laws and regulations. 'During this operation, a total of 25 vehicles were inspected, of which 18 motorcycles were seized under Section 60 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for being modified from their original structure and for further inspection. 'Throughout the operation that was held at Jalan Bandaraya Miri, Jalan Marina Utama, Jalan Miri-Bypass, Jalan Tanjung Lobang, and Jalan Canada Hill, 30 individuals were checked, and a total of 61 PDRM (K) 257 summonses were issued for various traffic offences,' he said in a statement. Mohd Farhan said similar operations will be carried out from time to time. 'We want to also warn motorcyclists to refrain from participating in illegal street racing activities, avoid modifying the original structure of their vehicle, and not gather by the roadside in ways that cause traffic congestion and noise disturbances to public peace.
