Law & order during Muharram: CM directs action against dissemination of fake news

LAHORE: On the direction of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, special measures have been taken for the first time to monitor and prevent fake news for establishing law and order during Muharram-ul-Haram. A new system has been implemented and a special Control Room has been established in this regard. The CM directed to launch strict legal action against the dissemination of fake news on the social media during Muharram-ul-Haram. On the direction of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, tracing of people who are involved in disseminating controversial contents on the social media accounts has been launched and a strict legal action is being taken. Dozens of controversial social media accounts have been blocked across Punjab on the report of the Special Branch. On the direction of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, a Cyber Patrol Unit will perform its duties for the first time in the province during Ashura. A special portal of PITB has also been activated for monitoring and reporting objectionable social media contents. The special cell will monitor 24/7 social media contents pertaining to religious hatred and sectarianism. After reporting controversial content on the portal, the account is blocked and the whereabouts of the account holder is traced. The Chief Minister directed to initiate special measures to ensure a complete ban on the promotion and publication of contents based on religious hatred and speeches. She also directed to ensure a complete ban on the usage of drone cameras under any circumstance. She directed to carry out the deployment of a Quick Response Force to ensure complete security of Muharram processions and gatherings. Iron pipes will be installed on all sides for security purposes during the Muharram processions. Special cameras will be installed at the entrance gate of every procession during the Ashura so that the visitors can be identified by their faces. The CM directed to deploy female police officers and personnel for the security of female mourners in the gatherings and processions. She highlighted, 'The Karbala incident imparts us a lesson to adopt peace and tolerance. All possible steps will be taken to ensure peace and order during the Ashura.' She asserted, 'In the context of the current global situation, the holy month of Muharram is extremely sensitive and there is absolutely no room for committing negligence by the relevant stakeholders in the performance of their duties.' PITB holds training session on e-filing

LAHORE: The Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) organised a training session on the e-Filing and Office Automation System (e-FOAS) for officials of the South Punjab Secretariat. According to the PITB on Friday, South Punjab Additional Chief Secretary Fuad Hashim Rabbani chaired the session while Special Secretary Communication and Works Aftab Pirzada, Additional Secretary Ghulam Abbas and Focal Person from S&GAD South Punjab, Engineer Iram Abbas were also present. The training, conducted by the PITB's e-FOAS team, was aimed at acquainting the participants with the modern digital platform developed to streamline official processes and eliminate manual file movement in government offices. LAHORE In a move towards digital transformation, the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) conducted an online meeting on Tuesday with the Pakistan Railways (PR) to formally initiate the development of the 'inspection regime software.' The session was chaired by Pakistan Railways Secretary Syed Mazhar Ali Shah and attended by senior officials from both organisations. The PITB representatives included Additional Director General (ADG) Syed Qasim Ifzal and Joint Director (JD) Arsalan Manzoor, alongside Pakistan Railways' Chief Officers. The meeting outlined the strategic roadmap for launching the inspection regime software, a core component of Pakistan Railways' digital modernisation agenda. The software will be designed to enhance inspection protocols, ensure data-driven oversight, and improve the overall operational efficiency of Pakistan Railways. Both institutions reaffirmed their mutual commitment to deploying innovative, citizen-centric, and sustainable digital solutions to uplift public service delivery. In this regard, PITB Chairman Faisal Yousaf stated, 'The digitisation of inspection regimes will enable Pakistan Railways to move toward more transparent, accountable, and efficient operations.' The initiative underscored the importance of inter-institutional collaboration in driving forward Pakistan's digital governance goals, with PITB continuing to lead the charge in public sector IT enablement. LAHORE: The Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), in collaboration with the Punjab Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA), organised a comprehensive training session on the e-procurement system for officials from divisional, district, and tehsil-level offices across the Multan division. According to the PITB, Waqar Azim, Managing Director of PPRA, provided a detailed overview of the legal and regulatory framework governing public procurement in Punjab. The PITB's e-procurement team conducted hands-on training across various modules of the system and actively engaged participants through interactive Q&A sessions and feedback collection. The e-procurement system, developed by PITB, leverages modern technology to facilitate secure, paperless, and efficient procurement. In this regard, PITB Chairman Faisal Yousaf stated that, under the directives of the Punjab government, the PITB has implemented the e-procurement system across various government departments to make the procurement process more efficient, transparent, and streamlined. Through this system, vendors from across the province and beyond can submit bids online, eliminating geographical barriers and streamlining the entire procurement cycle.
