Georgia nabs commitment from 2026 4-star over Ohio State

The post Georgia nabs commitment from 2026 4-star over Ohio State appeared first on ClutchPoints. Georgia football is ending an epic June by topping Ohio State for a four-star recruit. The Bulldogs secured one more college football recruiting win before the calendar flips to July. Advertisement Georgia landed elite 6-foot-4, 260-pound defensive lineman PJ Dean Monday. Hayes Fawcett of On3 shared the Buckeyes were in the final running. So was Georgia's Southeastern Conference rival South Carolina. But Dean fired off this message after committing. 'A dawg always finds his way home,' he shared via Fawcett. Dean adds to a fast-growing 2026 recruiting class in Athens. Again, head coach Kirby Smart and his staff are aggressively putting a bow on their '26 class for the summer. Especially with universities everywhere getting the green light to host official visits in June now. Georgia grabbed new accolade on recruiting trail Joshua L. Johnson arrived to Georgia Sunday before Dean's decision. Johnson enters the class as the nation's top-ranked defensive lineman. But that handed UGA this new claim per Fawcett. 'Georgia is the only school to land TWO No. 1 Ranked Recruits at their respective positions in the '26 Class,' Fawcett posted on X (formerly known as Twitter). That's because quarterback Jared Curtis became the first five-star pledged to Georgia. Curtis chose the Bulldogs in May. However, one SEC rival caught up to the Bulldogs on the five-star end. Alabama now boasts a national-best three five-star commits as of Monday. Xavier Griffin boosted the Crimson Tide class by choosing 'Bama Sunday. The linebacker even heads to Tuscaloosa as a former USC commit. But Griffin additionally becomes an in-state loss for Smart and and the Bulldogs — because he hails from nearby Gainesville, Georgia. Fellow four-star wide receiver Craig Dandridge turned down three SEC rivals for the Bulldogs. Georgia football continues recruiting surge with 4-star DL addition

The post Georgia football continues recruiting surge with 4-star DL addition appeared first on ClutchPoints. The Georgia football team is one of the hottest programs in the country right now on the recruiting trail, and it had quite a day on Monday. The Bulldogs picked up three commitments in total, with two coming from the 2026 class, and one coming from the 2027 class. The first 2026 prospect to commit to Georgia was four-star defensive lineman PJ Dean. Then later in the day, another four-star DL decided to play for Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs as Preston Carey announced his commitment. Advertisement 'BREAKING: Four-Star DL Preston Carey has Committed to Georgia, he tells me for @Rivals,' Hayes Fawcett said in a post. 'The 6'5 300 DL chose the Bulldogs over Florida, Auburn, & Rutgers.' Florida, Auburn and Rutgers were all recruiting Preston Carey hard, but they were no match for Kirby Smart and the Georgia football team. The Bulldogs are on another level on the recruiting trail right now. After announcing his commitment to Georgia, Carey had a short message to share: 'To be the best in the country, you have to play with the best in the country,' he said. Carey is a four-star recruit, according to 247Sports' composite rankings. He is the #309 player in the 2026 recruiting class, the #36 DL and the #48 player in the state of Florida. Carey currently attends IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL. The in-state Gators recruited him hard, but Carey chose rival Georgia. Advertisement The 2026 Georgia football recruiting class is shaping up to be another special one. After this commitment from Preston Carey, the Bulldogs have the #2 recruiting class in the nation, according to 247Sports. Georgia now has commitments from one five-star, 18 four-stars and six three-stars. Kirby Smart has always been good at bringing top talent to Athens, and he is outstanding at turning those players into NFL draft picks. The Bulldogs are poised for long-term success in this new era of college football. Nation's No. 7 defensive lineman announces commitment date

Four-star defensive lineman PJ Dean announced that he will make his college decision on Monday, June 30 and choose among Ohio State, Georgia, and South Carolina, according to Hayes Fawcett. Dean is a four-star defensive lineman from the class of 2026. The 6-foot-5, 255-pound defensive lineman plays football for West Forsyth High School in Clemmons, North Carolina. He is ranked as the No. 7 defensive lineman and No. 66 prospect in the nation. Dean is the No. 6 recruit in North Carolina. Advertisement Dean has no more scheduled official visits, but visited South Carolina on May 30, Georgia on June 6, and Ohio State on June 13, so all that's left for him is to announce his commitment at West Forsyth High School. If Dean commits to Georgia, then he will add to the immense defensive line talent in Georgia's class of 2026. Dean would be joined by three-star JUCO recruit Seven Cloud and three-star Norcross recruit Carter Luckie in the defensive tackle room. New four-star edge rusher commit Khamari Brooks and three-star edge rusher Corey Howard could line up alongside him. Dean would be Georgia's highest ranked defensive line commitment. Georgia's current defensive line includes a lot of new faces after the majority of the 2024 group left for the 2025 NFL draft. Junior Christen Miller, the most experienced player in Georgia's defensive line room, will start at defensive end, while sophomore Jordan Hall figures to take the starting nose tackle spot. Junior Gabe Harris looks to be a starting edge rusher, while incoming Army transfer Elo Modozie is projected to start in the Jack linebacker spot alongside them. New Photo of Coveted Star Emerges Sparking Georgia Rumors originally appeared on Athlon Sports. One four-star recruit has been around the Georgia Bulldogs football program for years. But the Bulldogs have had to court the prospect just like everyone else. Advertisement On Saturday, though, four-star defensive lineman PJ Dean provided a little peak into what he would look like donning a Bulldogs uniform. "4-star DL PJ Dean sporting the Georgia uniform on his official visit," On3's Jeremy Johnson wrote as a social media caption to a picture of Dean in the black Georgia uniform. Over the weekend, Dean was set to work with Bulldogs defensive line coach Tray Scott. Dean was complimentary of the coach while speaking to Johnson before the visit. 'It's been smooth because coach Scott is a likable coach,' Dean told Johnson. 'He's definitely a cool, even-keeled guy. I was in the defensive line room, there wasn't really a lot of yelling going on. Advertisement "It was more of a stern, just, hey, he's teaching you. That's just the way he goes about things. I feel like all of them go about it like that, but he goes about it. I love it.' Georgia Bulldogs football head coach Kirby Smart© Stephen Lew-Imagn Images Dean's older brother, Jared Wilson, started at center for the Bulldogs last season. In April, the New England Patriots drafted Wilson in the third round. Originally, Dean was set to become an offensive lineman in college as well. But he recently switched his focus to defense. With his brother playing for the program, the Bulldogs could have the inside track on Dean. However, On3's Recruiting Prediction Machine projects the Ohio State Buckeyes to land the defensive lineman. Advertisement According to the 247 Sports composite rankings, Dean is the No. 7 defensive lineman and 68th-ranked recruit overall in the 2026 class. Ohio State gets crystal ball prediction to land four-star lineman out of North Carolina

Ohio State gets crystal ball prediction to land four-star lineman out of North Carolina Ohio State is just a week removed from its annual Spring Game that gave fans a glimpse of what the future holds in Columbus. While Buckeye Nation watched with anticipation, a slew of recruits got a chance to see firsthand what their future could be in Scarlet and Gray. One of those in attendance was PJ Dean, a four-star prospect who could play on either the offensive or defensive line. Steve Wiltfong of On3 gave a prediction for Dean to land with Georgia just a few weeks ago, but after another visit to OSU, that prediction has now been flipped in favor of Ohio State. Dean is in a unique situation as most guys at this level have a set position. Dean is a Top 10 offensive line prospect, and a Top 100 overall player according to 247sports. However, it seems as if the Buckeyes are recruiting the North Carolina native to play for Larry Johnson on the defensive line. At this point, it may not matter as long as they can get the kid to commit. It sounds like he's the kind of athlete who can play at a high level wherever he's needed the most. Dean is down to a final three of Ohio State, Georgia, and South Carolina. It would be another outstanding addition to a class that is already ranked No. 3 in the country.
