E-stamp fraud busted in Anantapur dist; 3 held
Tirupati: Anantapur district police have uncovered a major e-stamp fraud at a local Mee-Seva centre in Kalyandurg and have arrested three individuals in connection with the case. Briefing the media, Anantapur SP P Jagadeesh stated that three construction companies—SRC Infra Developer Private Limited, Neo Construction Company Limited (Bangalore), and Suraj Infra—had recently lodged formal complaints at the Kalyandurg police station, alleging that they had been defrauded by the Babu Mee-Seva Centre in Kalyandurg. In its complaint, SRC Infra reported that it had purchased 410 e-stamps from the Babu Mee-Seva Centre and later identified fraudulent activity in 17 transactions. SRC Infra had paid Rs 16.5 lakh towards stamp duty, transferred to the bank account of Boya Yerrappa, but the Mee-Seva operators reportedly paid only Rs 2,000 to the government as e-stamp duty. Similarly, Neo Construction Company stated it had paid Rs 2.5 lakh for three e-stamps, while only Rs 300 was remitted to the government. Suraj Infra reported paying Rs 2 lakh for two e-stamps, but only Rs 200 was paid in stamp duty. Following the registration of three separate fraud cases, Kalyandurg police arrested Boya Yerrappa and his accomplices Mohan Babu and Bhuvaneswarion the outskirts of Kalyandurg town. Boya Yerrappa had procured 15,821 e-stamps from the Stock Holding Corporation of India, having paid Rs 32.8 lakh in total stamp duty . Authorities have seized mobile phones, computers, and e-stamp certificates from the accused.

Install CCTV cameras to promote road safety: SP
Anantapur: District SP P Jagadeesh has stressed the need to identify accident-prone areas and install CCTV cameras to enhance road safety. He made these remarks during the District Road Safety Committee meeting held on Friday at the Mini Conference Hall in Anantapur Collectorate. The meeting was conducted in coordination with District Revenue Officer Malola. Speaking on the occasion, SP Jagadeesh directed officials to identify accident hotspots (black spots) across the district and investigate the causes behind frequent accidents. He emphasiaed the need for installing CCTV cameras, speed-breakers, and signage boards in such areas. He also instructed officials to launch special drives to raise awareness about overloading of vehicles, particularly autos and transport vehicles. The SP called for the immediate completion of pending works on national highways (NH roads). He further instructed police to register cases against individuals involved in drunk driving, triple riding, and rash driving. Awareness programmes for drivers at village and mandal levels were also recommended to reduce road accidents. During the meeting, the District Transport Commissioner (DTC) provided updates on actions taken based on previous committee recommendations. From May 1 to June 24, 2025, police registered the following cases under the Motor Vehicle Act: 544 cases for driving without helmets, 749 cases for using mobile phones while driving, 13,892 cases for driving without valid documents like driving licenses and RCs and 282 cases for drunk driving. In total, 19,982 cases were registered, and fines amounting to ₹56,96,885 were collected. The Municipal Commissioner reported that parking spaces have been established in key town areas such as in front of the municipal office, near Mehfil Restaurant, and at the Tower Clock near the Municipal Complex. He also stated that 206 CCTV cameras have been installed across the town limits. Officials further informed that roadworks at Saptagiri Circle and Surya Nagar Circle along National Highway 42 have been completed. The meeting was attended by R&B Executive Engineer Rajagopal, DTC Veerraju, NH PD Tarun, Panchayat Raj SE Zaheer Aslam, APSRTC RM Sumanth, DCHS Paul Ravikumar and other officials.

Anantapur police recover stolen mobile phones worth Rs 3 cr
Tirupati: Anantapur district police wing recovered 1216 stolen and lost mobile phones worth approximately 3 cr. These recovered phones were handed over to the rightful owners by Anantapur SP P Jagadeesh at a special mobile phones mela organised at the police parade grounds at Anantapur on Friday. Anantapur SP told reporters that the district police wing has so far recovered 12594 stolen and lost mobile phones worth approximately 24 cr, which were all given back to the rightful owners. He also noted that around 1,179 recovered phones belonging to people living across 20 other Indian states were also returned back safely to them. Urging the people to make use of the police department's chatbot services in case they lost their mobile phones, Anantapur SP cautioned the public and mobile phone shop owners not to purchase phones from strangers or without proper documentation. Even if the seller is known, one must ensure the phone comes with a bill, original box, and proper IMEI details. The SP also advised the public to be cautious of fraudsters who attempt to sell phones at public places like bus stands and railway stations, as such purchases can lead to legal issues and financial loss.

Major breakthrough in Kurakulpalli teacher kidnap case
Anantapur: The District Police achieved a significant breakthrough by solving the kidnapping case of a female teacher from Kurakulpalli, Kambadur Mandal. As per the orders of District Superintendent of Police P Jagadeesh IPS, the Kalyan-durg Sub-Division Police arrested a 10-member gang responsible for the abduc-tion. The accused, shockingly, were family members of the victim, who allegedly kid-napped her to seize her property. The victim, Maruthamma, a teacher working at MPP School in Kurakulpalli, was kidnapped on June 12 while returning from school with her husband, Eggidi Erriswamy. As per police reports (Cr. No. 49/2025), her father Anand, along with nine others, intercepted the couple using a Bolero and two-wheelers and abducted them. Maruthamma, working since 2016, had become the main breadwinner for her fa-ther and sister's families. She purchased gold (about 15 tolas) and a residential plot in Anantapur. Despite her stable job, her family opposed her recent love mar-riage with Erriswamy (already married with two children) and saw the marriage as a threat to their financial support. In retaliation, the accused kidnapped her with the intention of forcing her to transfer her assets and marry her brother-in-law Ellappa. She was taken to Benga-luru, confined in a relative's house, tortured, and threatened with death unless she complied. SP P Jagadeesh directed immediate action, forming special teams led by Kalyan-durg DSP Ravi Babu, including three CIs and SIs. Based on solid leads, the police rescued the victim and arrested the accused on June 15. The SP commended the swift investigation and arrest made within 72 hours by CI Neelakanteshwara (Kalyandurg Rural), CI Yuvaraju (Kalyandurg Town), CI Venkata-ramana (Rayadurg Rural), SI Praveen (Kambadur), SI Nabi Rasool (Bommanahal), SI Nagamadhulu (Kanekal), and support staff including Rajesh, Khaja, Manjunath, Nagarjuna, Mohan Krishna, Rajyalakshmi, and SB personnel Anjaneyulu and Mo-han. A Bolero, two-wheelers, and a knife were recovered from the accused. The case underscores the importance of swift action and coordinated policing in dealing with sensitive domestic and property-related crimes.

Swift resolution of PGRS petitions is a must: SP Jagadeesh
Anantapur: District Superintendent of Police (SP) P Jagadeesh, IPS emphasized the importance of resolving PGRS (Public Grievance Redressal System) petitions without delay and urged police officials to handle public issues responsibly and transparently. He conducted the PGRS programme at the District Police Conference Hall on Monday, where he received a total of 97 petitions from complainants across various parts of the district. He personally interacted with the petitioners, listened to their grievances, and ensured their concerns were addressed. The complaints included family disputes, domestic violence by spouses/in-laws, land and property conflicts, road access issues, and other civil matters. He held Zoom video conferences with respective police officials to discuss and assess each petition. He instructed them to thoroughly investigate each issue, verify the facts, and take immediate legal action if necessary. He further directed the concerned officers to submit a detailed report on the actions taken to the District Police Office. The event also saw the participation of DSP of the Women's Wing, Mahaboob Basha, and other police officials.
