After years of frustration up front, the Soweto giants have once again gone into the market in search of goals. Christian Saile and Ranga Chivaviro were both released after failing to make the desired impact, while Tashreeq Morris has yet to win over the technical team. In response, Chiefs moved quickly to bring in Portuguese striker Flávio Silva from Indonesian club Persebaya Surabaya. Silva, 29, is not a young prospect or a player signed for potential — he's expected to deliver immediately. But already, question marks are forming around his fitness and sharpness, especially after a pre-season campaign that has not inspired universal confidence. Some supporters have voiced concerns, wary of another stop-gap solution in a position that has been mishandled far too often in recent years.

Jorge Jesus named new Al Nassr coach to partner with Ronaldo
PORTUGUESE football manager Jorge Jesus has been officially appointed as the new head coach of Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr. The club confirmed the news on social media, stating, 'It's official: Mr. Jorge Jesus is the new Head Coach of Al Nassr.' Jesus, 70, returns to Saudi football after being dismissed by Al Hilal in May following their Asian Champions League semi-final defeat. His previous stint with Al Hilal began in 2023, marking his second spell with the club. With a managerial career spanning Portugal, Brazil, and Turkey, Jesus brings extensive experience to Al Nassr. His most notable roles include managing Benfica and Sporting Lisbon in his home country. The appointment comes shortly after Cristiano Ronaldo extended his stay with Al Nassr, signing a new two-year deal in June. Despite being the league's top scorer last season with 25 goals, Ronaldo has yet to secure a major trophy with the club. Al Nassr also fell short in the Asian Champions League semi-finals, adding pressure for success under Jesus.

Portuguese players pay tribute to Diogo Jota during Wimbledon doubles match
PORTUGUESE PAIR NUNO Borges and Francisco Cabral paid tribute to compatriot Diogo Jota by wearing black ribbons on court at Wimbledon. Borges wore the item on his cap during his third-round singles clash with 17th seed Karen Khachanov after Cabral donned one on his shirt sleeve during his doubles match earlier on Friday as the All England Club relaxed its strict all-white dress code to allow tributes to the Liverpool forward. Jota, 28, and his brother Andre Silva died in a car crash in Spain on Thursday while travelling to catch a ferry to the UK ahead of pre-season. Advertisement Cabral said he was driving to Wimbledon when he heard the news, describing the footballer as 'an idol, such an icon, such a good person' in Portugal. After his defeat in the men's doubles alongside Lucas Miedler, he added: 'Yesterday the idea of wearing a black strap came up – that was not allowed. 'I asked for permission to use the black ribbon and they let me play with it. 'It was an honour – it was not for the best reason. 'He was an inspiration not only for me but for the country in general.' Liverpool fan and British doubles player Neal Skupski had also brought a black armband for his match on Thursday but opted not to wear it. The 35-year-old then found out about the death of his grandmother shortly after coming off court of his first-round win alongside fellow Briton Joe Salisbury. Skupski suggested he may wear one later in the tournament, saying: 'Maybe in the next couple of days.'
