Sonam Kapoor Donates 12 Inches Of Her Hair To Charity, Thanks Anil Kapoor For The Genes
Last Updated: Sonam Kapoor cut 12 inches of her hair for charity. She credited her genetics for her long hair and thanked her stylist Pete and her father Anil Kapoor on Instagram. Bollywood's fashionista Sonam Kapoor just did the coolest thing ever. The actress went snip snip on her super long, luscious hair as she donated 12 full inches of her tresses to charity. Sonam took to Instagram to show off the moment she went from Rapunzel to refreshed! In the video, Sonam is seen casually sitting in the salon, grinning like she's about to do something bold. 'Hi everyone, so I decided to cut 12 inches of my hair," she says, holding the chopped strands. 'It doesn't seem like much on video, but it's literally a foot of hair!" And of course, she had to throw in a shoutout to papa Anil Kapoor for the great hair genes. 'My hair's become really long because of my genetics… i.e. Anil Kapoor," she laughed. She went on to say she'd been wanting to do this for a while and that it was finally time to say goodbye to some of the length and do something meaningful with it. Her longtime hairstylist Pete took on the task. Even after losing a whole foot of hair, Sonam's locks still look super long and fabulous. 'Very happy and refreshed," she smiled. In her caption, she wrote, 'Decided to cut off 12 inches off my hair and give it away! @peteburkill thanks @anilskapoor for the genes." The upcoming film is based on Anuja Chauhan's 2010 bestseller Battle for Bittora, which tells the story of two young, idealistic politicians who are madly in love but run against each other in an election. The film is being produced by Anil Kapoor's production house in collaboration with Communication Network. Sonam also got nostalgic recently about two of her songs that quite literally broke the internet — Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo and Abhi Toh Party Shuru Hui Hai. Talking about the PRDP title track, Sonam told IANS, 'I still remember when the Prem Ratan Dhan Payo title track was released—what a time it was! The Dubsmash videos were everywhere. It totally broke the internet." She added that filming that song was one of her all-time favourite memories, saying, 'It honestly feels like it happened just yesterday. I'm so touched that people still love the song… it really means a lot!" Then came the 2014 bop Abhi Toh Party Shuru Hui Hai from Khoobsurat, which is still ruling party playlists even a decade later. 'This has always been one of my favourite songs from my career—and it still makes it to my dance playlist!" Sonam said, adding that she let her hair down (literally) while shooting it. 'It brings me so much joy to see that the song continues to be a popular party anthem even today," she shared. First Published:
